Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [402].
2. Now, as we find, there are disturbances in the general physical functionings of the body. These, as we find, in the causes and the effects, are apparently quite at variance to one another. While the conditions in the present are somewhat improved, through the cleansing of the system from the poisons that have assisted in bringing about the high temperature and the nausea in the system, these causes are not - in the main - of the nature known as malarial infection. But, when there has arisen the temperature to such an extent as to destroy the red blood cells, through the condition in the liver, spleen and hepatic circulation, these destroyed cells or broken down cells BECOME of such a nature as to produce the effect of the malarial infection; and would be called such, were they classified or separated and segregated from the conditions that exist in the blood supply. And the condition becomes such as to produce this high temperature; hence is very draining on the system.
3. The condition which produces this, as we find, is rather the infection of the tube that carries certain forces in the system for the digestive area to the new blood supply. Hence, as may be seen, the soreness, in the back at the edge of the liver, that extends on over the right shoulder; and the soreness in the upper portion of the right lung.
4. This is produced by the developing body being incapable of handling, through the assimilating system in the lacteal ducts, any quantity or proportionate quantity of properties not assimilated or acted upon by the secretions of the spleen and pancreas with the gall ducts' activity upon the food values that are drained from the ducts of the system in this area. Hence foods of scarcely any nature are assimilated, then, through such periods (such as has just been passed by the body. Though the fever or temperature
402-1 Page 2
has broken a great deal, there still remains these conditions in the system.); and the fermentation taking place in the lower portion of the duodenum, throughout the jejunum, and forming then conditions in the area of the caecum and the ascending colon, produces a very high temperature. And the breaking of the cells in the circulation, as indicated, makes for those results that have been experienced by the body.
5. Then, as we find, the condition is from the LACK of sufficient elements of the natures that will work with the system to produce a balance in the body, for the expansion of the activity of this duct that digests or carries foods into the circulation.
6. Unless the cause is removed, these would be as warnings:
7. Tendency for the continued inclination of the body to be easily upset by any elements that produce an especial activity of the hepatic circulation; as watermelon, cantaloupe, apples, bananas, or meats or fats that are not easily assimilated. But fruits of certain natures and characters, that carry elements calling for the functioning or production within the system to produce assimilation through the hepatic circulation's activity, will be just as effective in upsetting the system as would be oils or fats.
8. There would be produced in the system a tendency for crystallization about the gall ducts, and a condensation of the activities in the pancreas; such as to make a tendency for creating too great quantities of other elements in the system, making for an overactivity of the kidneys and a tendency for inflammation (necessarily overactive in the body) to produce packs or obstructions in the caecum area, as to be either of these:
9. Inflammation of lungs, with a tendency towards anemia in the body.
10. Lack of strength and vitality, and necessarily a lowering of the abilities for a quick mental reaction in the body.
11. A tendency towards poisons accumulating from the undigested foods in the system, creating an unbalanced force in the body - or towards inflammation of the appendix; inflammation of the liver itself.
12. Then, in meeting the needs, even under the present condition, with a watching of the diet in the present, this particular period might easily pass away, with the system's attempting - through its developing period - to create a balance; but we would find a body continuing to be somewhat listless at times in its activity, peevish, and inclined to be irritated easily, tendency for the continuation of the
402-1 Page 3
inflammation to easily arise and to cause temperature in the body.
13. How may we, then, correct the conditions in the present?
14. We would add to the system, as this:
15. First, we would get a small size bottle (containing 900 drops) of Fletcher's Castoria. Opening the bottle, we would take OUT about - or at least - a teaspoonful of the compound. Then add to the rest of the compound left in the bottle 3 grains of Senna (which makes for a tendency of an excess, as Senna is one of the active principles upon the digestive system already contained in Castoria, but there are many other compounds in the same just as effective). Then add also to the Castoria (with the extra amount of Senna) 2 drops of Sweet Spirits of Nitre. Then shake the compound well together, and begin with broken or very small doses (of that that's left in the bottle, you see). We would take 15 to 20 drops every fifteen minutes for a period until there is a flushing of the system thoroughly, and then continue the doses farther apart - that is, after the properties have begun to act upon the system; say half a teaspoonful every hour, you see, until the whole quantity has been taken.
16. As soon as there has been the first flushing of the system from the Castoria, we would begin with the massaging along the cerebrospinal system of a compound prepared in this manner: To 4 ounces of Russian White Oil, add: Witchhazel.................1 ounce, Spirits of Camphor.......1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras..........10 minims (drops).
17. There will be a tendency, to be sure, for the Sassafras Oil to separate whenever allowed to stand for any time, but when ready to use shake well together and massage only that which the body WILL absorb. The compound may be shaken well together and a small quantity poured into a saucer, so that the fingers may be dipped in same. Massage this into the cerebrospinal portion of the body, from the head to the end of the spine. We would also massage this over the liver area and the right shoulder, especially, see? over the upper portion of same, to the whole area of the lungs in this portion; that is, around the right lung, especially. Do this massaging every other day, for at least ten days.
18. Of course, just the one bottle of the Castoria would be taken in the present; prepared in the manner as given.
19. Be mindful of the diet. This would be an outline,
402-1 Page 4
though - to be sure - it may be altered or changed as conditions improve, or as changes come about in the body:
20. Mornings - citrus fruit juices; such as orange, lemon or grapefruit juices; with a little dry toast, and a little Ovaltine or milk that has been heated - not boiled, but heated - may be taken.
21. Noons - prunes, with a little cream; or pie plant, or any stewed fruits, provided they are not apples.
22. There also may be taken at this time a little meat broth, see? Not any of the meats. Vegetable broths. Strained vegetable juices, as Gerber's, very good, provided they are not overly weighted with salt, see? Not too much salt.
23. Evenings - a well balanced meal with well cooked vegetables, and properties that are easily assimilated. Ice creams or sherbets are very good; preferably the fruit sherbets would be well for the body.
24. We will find, too, that occasionally beef juice would be well; but when given do not give large quantities, just a few teaspoonsful at the time; and this should not be heavily loaded with salt or with those properties that only make foods palatable to the body.
25. We will find that, if these directions are followed, the conditions will be overcome; and we will make for a normal, healthy, developing body, rid of all these conditions.
26. Not following these directions, and we may look for trouble later on.
27. Ready for questions.
28. (Q) What will aid her speaking more plainly? (A) The massages as we have given, with the properties outlined, will assist greatly in releasing those pressures in the body that tend to make for hesitancy, stammering, and the like.
29. (Q) Is New York the best location for the family - (A) (Interrupting) Very good. The whole surroundings are very good, provided a BALANCE is created for the body. Of course, open air is always well for the body; but not too great an activity - even in the open air - for some time; two to three weeks.
30. We are through for the present. Copy to Parents " " File (GD's note: DIRECTIONS FOR MAKING PURE BEEF JUICE - Put small chunks of raw beef in covered fruit jar. Put jar inside pan of water (water coming to about half the depth of jar). Boil until chunks of beef are thoroughly done. Strain. Keep juice in cool place.
