Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body and those conditions that disturb the body, preventing the better physical and mental functionings in this body, [480].
2. These conditions, as we find, are arising from hindrances in the nerve forces of the body. While the reactions are to varied portions of the body, the character or kind of disbance makes for a distribution of the effects so that we have a physical and a mental complication.
3. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [480] we are speaking of:
4. As to the disturbances, we find there has been in the activities of the body that which has caused - not so much through injury as through a repression, which produces a subluxation in the lumbar area. And these pressures hindering in the action of the sympathetics to the activities of the impulses and to the sensory forces make for those periods of not only the wandering of the mental forces, but the tendencies for the melancholia and of the nerve excitement to the organs of the body themselves. So, there are periods when there is experienceed a shortness of breath, choking, full sensations; also periods when the digestive areas refuse to react in normalcy; the nerve exhaustion becomes overwhelming and the tendency for either too much activity or none whatsoever; in the mental producing rather the tendency not to desire any repression to the body, repression to activity. Hence the total deficiency comes from that which, unless corrected, will eventually produce - in the activity of the brain forces themselves - a diversion of the reaction to all sensory forces or all impulses for coordination.
5. In meeting, then, the conditions as we find them, it will require some patience, some persistence, and from time to time the changing of the influences about the body; and if there are added those things that either are of the nature
480-3 Page 2
to make for the repression of sensory forces or sedatives, bromides or hypnotics, it'll be just too bad. For, such would only add to the influences that have already been set up.
6. The main cause we find reflexly in the 3rd and 4th dorsal and, specifically, in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th lumbar plexus areas; a repression that has tended to cause the activity of the Fallopian tubes in the left side to fall. The falling of the tubes is an effect, not a cause, you see; but the repression that is created to the activity of the glands (in the adrenal, the reaction in the pineal, especially the influences - from this repression - to the lyden, [Leydig] and the activity of same through the medulla oblongata) makes for the flightly periods, the desire for change - and yet at times the repressions that affect the whole of the physical reactions in the organs' supply themselves.
7. In meeting the needs in the present, we find that it would be better to first make the applications of the plain Radio-Active Appliance - to make for the skip in impulses to the circulatory system. The first anode would be applied to the 4th dorsal plexus, and the other anode would be applied next (or last) to the 2nd cervical plexus; and these would be kept in contact with the body for thirty minutes to two hours at least once each day - or thirty minutes twice each day would be really more preferable.
8. About twice each week we would have the general reactions from a thorough osteopathic massage and adjustment treatment to the whole of the cerebrospinal system. Not that there should be MORE adjustments in the cervical and upper dorsal than in the rest of the body, either; for if so there would only be an accentuating of the repressions through the 3rd and 4th dorsal and the upper cervical area. But give the GENERAL treatment for the whole body; not too deep in the beginning.
9. But these treatments we would follow for at least twenty-eight to thirty days; then we would give further instructions.
10. As to the matter of diet and the surroundings for the body:
11. A specific diet should be rather one inclined to be less acid, or THIS we would give as an outline - though, to be sure, it may be altered at times:
12. Mornings - the body should not be allowed to sleep or rest or lie in bed too long of mornings, but after arising - as soon as the activities are begun - take citrus fruit juices, or fresh fruits, stewed cereals, but do not combine these together at the same meal; take one at one time and
480-3 Page 3
another at another. At each morning meal there may be taken any character of stimulant such as tea, coffee or milk, IN MODERATION; or, preferably still, a cereal drink, see?
13. Lunch - rather green vegetables entirely, or fresh fruits entirely. Among the vegetables may be included spinach, lettuce, celery, carrots, peas (half cooked, or as canned) - or beans that have been cooked may be added, or beets. Mayonnaise or oil dressings may be used. Or the salad may be made from fresh fruits; as oranges, apricots - a SMALL quantity of apple - bananas, grapes, pears and the like. Tomatos may be used with either the fruits or vegetables, see? or at the same meal with either.
14. Evenings - a well-balanced vegetable diet, WELL-cooked; two above the ground to one below the ground. Of meats, only mutton, fowl or fish may be used - or any of the seafoods may be included at times.
15. Of course, this is just an outline.
16. In the activities, some one should be with the body the greater portion of the time; not as caretaking, but rather as companionable - and keep the mental reactions on being busy, MOSTLY for the relief of SOME ONE ELSE rather than the thoughts of self, whether in preparing things, visiting others, in various activities of others' experience, or in what - just so the speech, the activities and the relations are such that the body is BUSYING itself in - not others affairs, but AIDING others in better relations for their own living.
17. Then, in twenty-eight to thirty days we would give further instructions.
18. Ready for questions.
19. We are through for the present. Copy to Mother " " Ass'n file (1/7/34 GD's notes: Notations to facilitate following entire reading correctly. The plain Radio-Active Appliance recommended may be obtained from Gray Salter, Route 2, Box 20, Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Price $12.50. I am enclosing one of our Bulletins which carries an article on such appliances by Gray Salter. No doubt you know of a good osteopath who may make the correct adjustments and spinal treatments. We do not know of one in your territory to whom we could refer you, although when you choose one - we would like to refer him to
480-3 Page 4
the following osteopaths (a few out of many) who have had experience with this work, and who have gotten wonderful results by following the reading instructions exactly: Dr. M. L. Richardson, Bankers Trust Bldg., Norfolk, Va. Dr. Frank Dobbins, 551 Fifth Ave., New York City. Dr. Percy Woodall, First Nat'l Bk. Bldg., Birmingham, Ala. Dr. Wm. A. Gravett, 325 W. 2nd St., Dayton, Ohio. Dr. C. O. Wright, 4341 N. Damen Ave., Chicago, Ill. It is important that he give the GENERAL osteopathic treatments in the manner outlined in the reading. You might show him that part of the reading, if not all of it, and refer him to the above individuals with reference to carrying out the treatment prescribed. The diet seems quite clear; also the suggestion as to the body's environment and activity. Should any of it not be perfectly clear, please let us try to clarify it for you. I might add here that the lyden gland [Leydig], referred to as being among the glands affected, is not generally understood; that is, very few doctors seem to know what it is. I quote from a reading of several years ago, explaining this gland: "Lyden [Leydig] meaning sealed; that gland from which gestation takes place when a body is created through coition, or inception, through conception of two bodies meeting in creating a body. Located in and above the gland called the genital. In the male, above the glands corresponding to testes. In the female, that above gland responding to testes in the male. The basis or seat of the soul is in the lyden gland." [3997-1, 7-A] Please let us hear from you. Mr. Cayce will no doubt write in a few days. Sincerely, GD.) [GD's note: See 1800-24, Par. R7 explaining theory of the Radio-Active Appliance.]
