Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [533].
2. As we find, conditions are improved from that as we have had heretofore. However, much may be desired - or much change may be desired yet for the body to be able to function the near normal.
3. In the present, as we find, we would use the oil rubs and have the gentle use of not cathartics but rather laxatives; that may not raise the temperature by too great an exercising of the gastric flows - or an increase in the excitement of the lacteal reaction. That is, we would rather use an application of the oils.
4. Use about an equal portion of Olive Oil and Russian White Oil, WARM. Then massage this thoroughly into the abdomen and across the spine. This we would do each day.
5. We would also take each day one to two teaspoonsful of the Olive Oil. This should be, of course, or is preferable to be a more refined or rectified oil than that used for the rub. Should this make for too great a belching, or too great an amount of nausea, then reduce the quantity but continue to take the smaller quantity. But there should be no trouble in the assimilating of at least two teaspoonsful.
6. Keep the body warm. And when we massage the abdomen or lower portion of the spine, or all of the spine, we would also massage the feet - especially through the soles of the feet, around the heel, and the instep or the bursae in the feet; that the bursae in the feet may be OILED, as it were. This will prevent this tired feeling. This will enable the body to function nearer normal until there may be those corrections given osteopathically that may DISTRIBUTE the eliminations throughout the system, and cause a better coordination in all the eliminating channels.
7. Ready for questions.
8. (Q) When will I be able to go to Norfolk to take [Dr. M. L. Richardson's] treatments? (A) As soon as the weather has improved somewhat; if these
533-8 Page 2
applications suggested are made.
9. (Q) How many treatments should I take? (A) If these are kept along with those things suggested, as we find, not more than six to ten would be necessary at this time.
10. (Q) What kind of food should I avoid? (A) That which tends to make for gas forming; that is, then, starches and sweets should not be taken at the same meal. Beware of hog meat or fresh meat, except the portions of same that are easily digested - as in the tripe or souse, or pig knuckle, or the like; or the liver, or the liver, melt, light and sweetbreads - these put TOGETHER are very good, provided there is the grease taken off when these are boiled together. Beware, then, of starches and sweets together. Not too much of Irish [white potatoes] potatoes, though yams with butter - and milk - may be taken; also the jackets of Irish potatoes may be taken. Turnips, things of that nature are very good - if they are not taken in too great a quantity.
11. (Q) By following suggestions correctly, how long will it be before I can walk? (A) This should be within six to eight weeks.
12. (Q) How long before these adhesions will break loose? (A) When there have been those applications sufficiently of the oil rubs, the oil packs, and the stimulations along the cerebrospinal system for the circulation to cause these to produce the proper flow through the alimentary canal and through the abdominal areas.
13. (Q) Should Oil Packs be taken now? (A) Whenever there is pain - These are well to be taken once or twice or three times a week, that there may be the aiding. Now, when the massage is given, massage the abdomen thoroughly - but do not beat too HEAVILY in the massage.
14. (Q) What laxative would it be advisable to take? (A) As indicated. If it becomes necessary for stronger than these, then use same; though if these are followed - with the oil rubs and the oil packs, and the Olive Oil taken internally - there should not be required others. Preferably use enemas rather than laxatives, with these.
15. (Q) What causes the pulling and making of gas? (A) Those tendencies for the adhesions, as indicated. Follow those suggestions as given, thoroughly. Take these and leave off others will be more preferable, unless conditions arise or changes come about not indicated in the present.
