1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [549], Millinery Department, ..., now waiting on a lady in front of a glass with knot on posts - two sit together, you see - on the back one. Yes, quite an interesting lady, though, she is waiting on; she needs a reading, too! to take this knot off of her!
2. As we find with this body, [549], there are those conditions that disturb the better physical functioning of the body. These, as we find, affect the digestive system as well as the general circulation, and are of the natures that affect the tissue in portions of the body; especially in the lower pelvic organs, making reflex conditions through the nerve systems. And unless there are measures of some nature taken for corrections, there will eventually be builded such conditions in the system as to form lesions or adhesions in various portions that will become detrimental for the physical body of [549].
3. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body we are speaking of, [549], ... Millinery Department, ..., Tennessee:
4. At present there are those effects of quite a bad taste in the mouth. This is from belching and gas, produced by those things as we will see in the trunk or torso portion of the body, especially in the right side - in the ascending and transverse colon area.
5. First, in the BLOOD SUPPLY, we find that the pulsation and the number of red and white blood corpuscles vary; yet there is a tendency for a form of anemia. Not that there is an excess in this direction save at times, but the assimilations are of such natures that these portions of the system become impoverished at times; causing a metabolism that is not always good; low in the blood pressure. As to the elements of the blood supply, we find there are indications of adhesions in the torso portion or - more
549-1 Page 2
specifically - in the left portion of the ovaries there. And this produces inflammation in such a manner that gradually there has been produced a plethora in the portion of colon indicated. And this causes that tendency for foods to ferment easily in the duodenum, and for the liver to become torpid in its activity; causing the bile ducts to become rather sedimentary in the effluvia thrown off in the secretions. This makes for the backing up into the stomach proper a fullness; a feeling of distention, gaseous formations and the like. These naturally, affecting the system in such a manner, produce the conditions that have been indicated in the blood supply.
6. In the NERVOUS SYSTEM we find there are specific centers that have in the main been involved, and involve the condition that has become apparent. Hence we may say that most of these conditions being described, though of a specific nature, are effects and not causes; though causes of distress, to be sure, arise from these conditions.
7. In the 11th and 12th dorsal area we find subluxations, and these have gradually lessened the impulse for activity during the periods of eliminations through the menses; causing the coldness that exists in the activity of the eliminations through the Eustachian [Fallopian?] and through the tubes in the pelvic organs, especially in the left ovary and the left tube. This has gradually made a drying condition, until there were the periods of inflammation. These running along the internal nerves that affect or make pressures to the portions of the lymph and emunctory circulation through the internal organs, or the flow of the water blood - as it were, or the emunctory and the lymph, produces a lack of eliminations. And taking up the effect of the muscular forces to the intestines, causes slow or poor peristaltic movement; giving or gradually building these effects, changed according to the manner of diet and the character or kind of eliminant taken to produce the activities through the alimentary canal.
8. Hence we have in the 11th and 12th dorsal area a subluxation of a nature which is to the right, provided it is viewed from the back, and hence in making the correction the pressure should be made on the left portion of the spine in the area. With such adjustments and treatments there should be a GENERAL massage along the spine, and - to be sure - making the corrections in the hypogastric and pneumogastric cross plexus in the 3rd, 4th and 2nd cervical area; these would be secondary, though the application would be as necessary there as in making the corrections.
9. We also find that the ORGANS of the system, as indicated,
549-1 Page 3
make for the tendencies for a character of headaches, that at times makes for a pulsation not only in the head itself but to the extremities and lower limbs - and even the hands and through the shoulders suffer from the repressions produced by the thinned or poor circulation and the character of the metabolism in the system.
10. In meeting the needs of the conditions of this body then, [549] we are speaking of, we would find that it would be well first to begin with the osteopathic rather than chiropractic treatments; for just to make adjustments alone will not make the proper coordination through the rest of the system, though they may aid. As we find, however, it would require not more than six to ten or thirteen such treatments and adjustments, osteopathically given, if made properly. In the first portion these would be taken twice each week; while in the latter portion it would be well that they be made only once each week.
11. But be mindful of the diet and the general activities of the body. This would be an outline, though not this ONLY would be taken:
12. Beware of too much white bread, or of eating too fast at any time; and of taking too many carbonated drinks or waters at any time!
13. It would be well for the body to begin and take one or two courses of Crazy Crystal water, for the proper adjustments for eliminations - but because the body feels better - from the eliminations being set up, and from the activities of the organs that we have indicated are under distress - DO NOT leave off all the treatments and adjustments in the osteopathic manipulations!
14. Mornings - citrus fruit juices or dry cereals with milk, but do not eat the cereals and the citrus fruit juices at the same meals; else we will find we change the activity of citrus fruit juices with the gastric juices of the stomach, by combining those that are acid and those that are alkalin reacting but of an acid nature. Crisp bacon, brown toast of whole wheat, Graham crackers, coddled egg, stewed fruit, fresh fruit; all of these are well, but not all at one meal, to be sure.
15. Noons - preferably a green and fresh green vegetable salad; as tomatoes, celery, lettuce, peppers, radishes, carrots, and the like. These should be grated together or chopped very fine. An oil salad dressing may be used.
16. Evenings - a general vegetable diet, well balanced with three vegetables above the ground to one grown below. Well-cooked and well-seasoned vegetables. And the meats should only include lamb, fowl or fish. Do not take shell
549-1 Page 4
fish, but the fresh water fish would be preferable to the salt fish, see? Mackerel, and the like, don't take; but the fresh water fish will be much better for the body. Some little condiments may be taken at this meal, if so desired. Be mindful that not too much sweets are taken, but sufficient that there may be created a balance with the green vegetables for a sufficient fermentation in the proper proportion and nature. Hence tarts or fruit pies, or rolls, or the like; but not just cake alone, for this is not so well. Coffee and tea in moderation.
17. We find that it would be well also for the body to take at times small quantities of Cod Liver Oil, and the Russian White Oil at times. These should preferably be taken of evenings, just before retiring. Not large quantities, but small quantities taken should create the vitamins necessary to produce in the alimentary canal activities, in the organs of digestion and throughout the whole system, the proper relations of the bacilli as necessary for carrying on the activity of eliminations and actions throughout the whole of the alimentary canal.
18. Occasionally it would be well for the body to use the high enemas to relieve those pressures, especially of evening when the body is tired from standing on feet and having a dull headache. A high enema will relieve such conditions, especially if there has not been at least two evacuations from the alimentary canal during that day.
19. Do these, and we will find we will bring for the physical body much greater abilities for the mental and the physical to react to that about self.
20. Keep the mental in the attitude of constructive forces. See in every individual the body contacts that which is hopeful, helpful. See GOOD in every one! Do not look for others' faults, but rather for their virtues; and the virtues in self will become much more magnified. For that we think upon, that we become. In our mental world we create that which is manifested in our spiritual as well as our material conditions.
21. Keep rather, then, in this attitude: MAY I GIVE PRAISE ALWAYS TO HIM WHO, THROUGH THE GIFT OF THE CHRIST INTO THE EARTH, MAKES THE AWARENESS OF HIS PRESENCE ABIDING WITH ME. LET ME SEE IN MY FELLOW MAN THAT I WOULD HAVE MY FELLOW MAN SEE IN ME. LET ME GIVE PRAISE AND GLORY WHERE IT IS DUE IN MY FELLOW MAN AND TO MY MAKER. LET THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH AND THE MEDITATION OF MY HEART BE ACCEPTABLE IN THY SIGHT, MY LORD AND MY REDEEMER.
22. Ready for questions.
23. (Q) What causes dark spots in arm pits and how may they
549-1 Page 5
be removed? (A) The poor circulation, with the character of the diets that have been taken. Keep those things as outlined for creating a better blood supply, a better elimination and coordination for the whole system, and we will find these spots will disappear.
24. (Q) Is there any change I can make that would prove advantageous to my mental welfare? (A) Think differently; rather along the lines that have been outlined. Don't feel sorry for self. Feel sorry for others that don't know self, and then live that way!
25. We are through. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file " of portion to Work book (See letter for Osteopath [which was attached]. Other portion should be quite clear. Let us hear from you. GD.)
