Time of Reading 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y. (Body and enquiring mind - questions on mental affairs and material associations.)

1. EC: [554] - yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [554] - this we have had before.

2. In the relations that are contemplated in the present, where there has been carried forward negotiations for associations that are to be those connections wherein the body is to supervise those expansions, and the service and sales, these - we find - are the better channels, through which more satisfactory results may be expected - but ready for questions.

3. (Q) Shall I wait for a position now pending with Stern Bros? (A) This, as we find, would not prove wholly as satisfactory as where there have been some negotiations for the body in handling an output or sales department for some others. While this, as we find, would not prevent - should this prove to be to the body the activities that were not as satisfactory as being in a stationed place - then we would not wait, unless there is more definite time set as to when this might be expected to culminate.

4. (Q) Will it materialize real soon, or shall I forget it? (A) We would not forget, but - as we have said - we would rather consider, for the present, those associations where the sales end of a proposition is pending.

5. (Q) Shall I look for a buying or merchandizing job, or would it be more advisable for me to take up selling for manufacturers? (A) As we find, there have been some negotiations for the body in the selling end, and the servicing end of a proposition. This, as we find, would be the more satisfactory. These, naturally, would be in the lines and through those channels going to the same character of distributors that the body has engaged in, with, and for. See?

6. (Q) Should I organize a house to house canvas on a bridge table that I am interested in?

554-6 Page 2

(A) This would be very well to consider, while these other negotiations are pending, if the body desires to begin operations at once. This, however, would not materialize in a very successful extensive campaign for at least thirty to forty days yet.

7. (Q) Should I start this house to house canvas in and around Philadelphia? (A) This would be very well. Better if the beginnings are made with the adjoining vicinities and work toward the town, or city itself proper.

8. (Q) Should I work out a deal with the chair I am about to get from the inventor, with the same manufacturer who is making the table? or do you advise to turn over the chair to a different factory? (A) This may be worked out satisfactorily with those making the table, as we find; and especially could this particular character of chair be begun in such a manner as the same house to house proposition - see?

9. (Q) Will the money invested in the moving picture project be returned to me, or will it be lost? (A) Eventually the greater portion, and should there be those returns that are contemplated in the near future it would be a good investment.

10. (Q) Will Mr. Keeler have an interesting proposition for me? Shall I see him? (A) See him by all means, for these may lead to other propositions that will be as much or more satisfactory; for, as we have given, there is a proposition wherein there is the sales management and a service management with same, that would prove the most satisfactory at this time. This, to be sure, does not prevent the organizing or carrying out of the proposition on the table for the present.

11. (Q) Shall I see Shipley for a connection? (A) Not necessary to go out of the way, but do not leave any of these in the position where they may not be used again when necessary.

12. (Q) Shall I see him in New York or Philadelphia? (A) New York.

13. (Q) Any other advice or information that would be of benefit for the body at this time? (A) As has been given, there is that proposition which will come for sales management, and service connected with same. This we would consider the more seriously at this time. This not preventing, to be sure, the carrying out of the proposition in which the body itself is interested, nor of there being worked out a proposition wherein the sales management or the management of canvases in various

districts may be made most satisfactory - especially at these particular periods. These should be arranged for as through those distributing points, as a better proposition.

14. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " File
