This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 9th day of June, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [578], new Active Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by her mother Mrs. [413], and Study Group #3.

R E A D I N G

Born June 5, 1913, Park Avenue, in South Norfolk, Virginia. Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those records that have been made by the entity in the sojourns in the earth, and in the earth's environs, [578]. [GD's note: EC pronounced her middle name Irma instead of Inez as presented, and added "son" to her surname.]

2. In entering the present experience we find that the self, the soul, the entity, and those that were responsible for the manifestation of the soul in the earth were both equally responsible for the entrance of the entity at this time - and will remain so. [See 578-2 Par. R6.]

3. As to the activities in the earth, then, that may be given, and the developments that have been made by the soul and the entity through the experiences and sojourns in these environs, they will be and are much of a pivot upon this present experience - much more than ordinarily seen.

4. The astrological influences, then, are as urges, while that which has been builded in the present and experienced in other earth's sojourns have the greater bearing upon the experience of the entity in the present - than just urges.

5. So, from the psychiatrist or psychological aspects, this entity would be a very good example - from the spiritual - will depend upon the environs.

6. The astrological sojourns and urges as we find are as these:

7. Venus is the ruling innate urge in the entity; what is termed love and honor and those things that make for the higher associations with individuals and groups and the activities of same.

8. Hence the entity in the earth will be inclined to make relationships with those that are both good and bad, but the activity will depend upon that which is the ruling influence

in the experience of the entity.

9. Hence of the earth and its environs do the activities come about in the present activity of this entity.

10. Too, it will be found that those whom the entity contacts will ALWAYS be friends - and friendly; easy for the entity to make friends, friendships, and easy for the body to forget them if the association or activity of such is in such directions - though there is always felt an urge to help, counsel, or a WONDERMENT about those that pass from the immediate association or relations with the entity.

11. Also there is the seeking for new urges, new bases for urges, in those directions that are nominally accredited to or from activities or sojourns in Venus.

12. Hence the marital relations of the entity in the present [with Mr. [1003]] will always be more or less, to many, ideal; though to self always there is always a row to hoe so that it may be kept in that line, the associations that are the ideals and ideas of self. And the entity sets its own standards!

13. As seen from the urges from the sojourn in Venus WITH Jupiter's relationship following, there will be periods when the entity will be in that plane of activity where there will be travel, the going places and seeing things, doing things that are the unusual for the general activities; not only as urges but these, as we find, will be in consummation in those periods in the 25th and 28th year of the entity's present experience or sojourn in this earth.

14. Too, the relationships from the sojourn in Mars as combined with Saturn make for those things where there is the urge for immediate change, when there are those experiences or activities when wrath, madness or UNDUE action is on the part of any; for the entity's desire is to move or make immediate changes in its relations and environs.

15. From these urges, as we find, it may be deduced that certain influences are to be chosen or selected by the entity in making its associations or friends, or setting for itself the environs in which it may find for itself not only the more ready response but that which will make for growth in a constructive way and manner; and thus add or make for soul development in this present sojourn or experience in the earth.

16. Those things that have as their basis, then, that founded in what may be chosen not only as an idea but as an ideal - whether it be in relationships of those whom the entity may contact or the mental, secular or spiritual things. For, the greater the entity holds to an ideal the

higher will be the entity's own standard that it sets not only for itself but for those whom the entity does and will influence in its sojourn. For, it is not that acquired for self that makes for growth, but that the self makes in the experience of others.

17. When an entity or soul so lives, so manifests its ideals that others are not only attracted to but desire in themselves to be better for having known and been with such a body, then growth may be assured in the experience of any soul.

18. As in this entity choosing, making for itself those standards from its environs, associations and urges, let the self continue in that manner of expression of its own ideals such that others will EVER seek to be in those associations with that activity.

19. Well that the entity keep its own self so that it may be ever said that in whatever home or group the entity may enter, the home, the group, those individuals whom the entity contacts, will be having the urge to be better for having contacted, having known the entity.

20. As to the manifestations or appearances in the earth:

21. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those periods when there were the first settlings in the land near to where the entity came into the present experience, or what is now still known as Williams - town or burg.

22. The entity then was among those people when there were the first establishings of that as a city, or as an organized activity of a body or peoples; then in the name Lucnough, and there still may be seen some of the re-enactments or the places where the entity has enacted an aid to those that developed the land; not only for the material gains but for the spiritual and mental activity in that particular experience.

23. So, the entity gained in the activity there; and if the entity will go to the hall - or town hall as it was then, look out of the window towards the east from the top, enter into meditation, it may find self in its own re-enacting of an experience that was much worth while to the entity during that sojourn. For the entity looked, yea for her lover - and he came - and she saw him first from that window.

24. The urge from that experience comes as being not wholly dependent upon others, but - as is often termed by others - an entity or body that is extremely careful and minds what other people say. This may oft be to self's own misunderstanding, yet is rather a virtue than a fault - and shows development in the inner self.

25. Before that (among the appearances that have an influence in the present upon the entity's activities and choices that are to be made in this present now) we find the entity was in that land now known as the French when there were the journeyings of many from that land to defend an ideal - or during the period of that called the Holy War.

26. The entity then was in the same sex as in the present but bemoaned its fate during that sojourn; for many of those women of that land were left by the young and the old for the carrying on of a defense rather an offense, yet in purpose materially as of good.

27. The entity suffered privation, and suffered in those things pertaining to the material activities in that sojourn. For, there were the activities of those people wherein there came the distrust of the men for their families; and those activities brought to the entity, with the constant staying away, with the constant activity that was heard and known about the entity, the distrust in many, the distrust oft in man, the distrust in the relationships as to material things; and left upon the entity during those last years of its activity during that experience not exactly hate but intolerance.

28. This is a lesson, then, the entity must learn in the present sojourn; not that intolerance is an exception to the entity, but those things that pertain to the same character of relationships as from that experience will be in the experience of the entity when tolerance must be a virtue if the entity is to rise in the present sojourn to the higher development that may be in its own self.

29. As to the activities brought to the entity in the present, there are the abilities in many directions that are innate - yet may be manifested in the activities of the hand and of the emotions of the body. These may be turned into those things that may bring contentment even in this sojourn; as in music, as in art. And EVER should the entity have about its body something blue, and something that is delicately carved. Why? For, these are as counterbalancing influences for those things that are the urges towards that to be met from that sojourn. You will rarely find individuals being intolerant with others with something intrinsically carved being worn; or never very, very mad with blue being worn, though they may put on much!

30. Before that we find the entity was in the Palestine land, or the Promised Land, during those periods when many in the land about Nazareth and Bethany and Capernaum suffered from the edict of the ruler that only ruled with a reflected power or Herod, the Great.

31. The entity then was among those mothers whose young were taken from them at the edict, for the destruction of the children that the son of Mary might be destroyed also.

32. Then in the name Jacobinus, the entity came to know Elizabeth, the mother of John the forerunner, as a real friend; and later knew the activities of many of those that followed in the teachings of Him of Capernaum and Galilee.

33. In the experience the entity gained, for though suffering in body in the real activities of the soul the entity gained throughout; and when there were the needs for the ministering to the ones that labored in the field of the teacher, the entity supplied much to those peoples in that experience throughout the sojourn.

34. And innate and manifested in the present experience comes what is commonly called the open hand and the bigness of heart, the ever willingness to lend self in the service of a friend, a neighbor, and to help those who need in any of the things that pertain to the manifestations in life.

35. In that experience also did the entity find much pertaining to the activities of the open field, or the garden, or those things that partook of the fields that supplied the needs of the body. And in these will the entity find interest, especially in those that are the fruits.

36. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Persian, during those periods when the Romans - or the Grecians and LATER Romans - came into the land.

37. The entity was among those that were the hangers-on, as it were, with those that would overrun the land; yet when the entity - in the name Gaius - came into contact with those that were of that city which had come the closer in the teachings of that teacher Uhjltd in that particular experience, the entity gave self rather in the service there, belittling many who forsook those things that were of the better way to join with the activities in the return to the Grecian land - or what is NOW the Grecian land, then the Scythian.

38. In that experience the entity lost and gained; lost during those periods when there was rather the gratifying of the desires for the material expressions of those influences in the activities of the material body and the material things; gained in those periods when irrespective - of whether the gains were for the material or bodily needs - the mental and the soul and the spiritual came to be the greater part and greater portion of the experience.

39. There is seen in the present the necessity for the entity setting its standards high, and for the environs it

chooses for itself to measure up to those things that are constructive in the experience of life. Then may the entity use those experiences there as steppingstones rather than reversing them, as some might do.

40. Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were turmoils and strife, and when the time came that the priest was to be banished and those of the land chose among themselves as to whether they would enjoy the favor of the king or take those chances with the activity of that which had to them been something of an ideal - or an idea, who is to say which? Only from the experience that came to those.

41. The entity then refused rather the king's offers and followed with those people into the Abyssinian land, becoming later associated in the activities of the Temple with the return from the banishment.

42. And lavender, odors that come from sandalwood have a peculiar influence upon the body in the present; for these bespeak of something innate within self that bespeaks of the abilities of the soul, mind and body to revivify and rejuvenate itself as to an ideal.

43. In the sojourn the entity gained; and in the application from the lessons and those things of that experience the entity may bring into the present those things that will bear upon the development; for as the ideal is spiritual rather than mental or material alone, let the self find that in the application does the knowledge of those things even as then make for the satisfying and bringing peace and harmony and contentment into the experience of the soul that makes such applications in the material things of life.

44. Then, as to the abilities of the entity in the present and that to which it may attain and how:

45. Hold fast to that thou hast in those experiences found as the hope of thine material, mental and spiritual self; for they take hold on things eternal.

46. In the application of the abilities, make thyself safe first in the spiritual - and those things thou hast need of will be added unto thee as thy body and thy mind requires for its development.

47. Ready for questions.

48. (Q) For what special development was I born to my present parents? (A) As indicated, in self and those responsible (or the parents) there were the activities that brought the body into this experience, that each might find in such relationships that which would draw them to the centralizing in an ideal; for, as was seen in those experiences in the

past, the ideals were varied - and must be crystallized in what? Life eternal.

49. (Q) What was my name in Egypt? (A) Apt-Shepat.

50. (Q) For what vocation am I best fitted? (A) For the greatest vocation of all - home.

51. (Q) How can I best prepare myself for it? (A) Look within and know that self is in accord, in attune, with that He has given is the better way for such activities. For His blessings, His actions were as He gave, "I go to prepare a place, that where I am ye may be also." Then, in the home, prepare such that all who may enter - the stranger, the foe, the friend and the brother - may find it a joyous place, one wherein they oft desire to be. For, those who have entertained others have oft entertained angels unawares. For, God uses men and women as His emissaries, in words; those that are just kind to those who enter their home. Woe unto those who would make their home, their place of abode, as a place where others are afraid to come.

52. (Q) In which previous incarnations have I been associated with my husband, and how? (A) You looked from the window and saw him! [1003]

53. (Q) Why do I have fear especially in darkness? (A) This is from those periods when there was the destruction by the soldiery; for the young was hidden in darkness and they took the body unaware.

54. (Q) Are the eyes I see when meditating an optical illusion or something with meaning? (A) Rather of meaning; for that soul thou lost in Nazareth may again come to thee in this experience - if ye would make thyself as a channel for such an event in this sojourn.

55. (Q) Would I be able to sing through practice, or is singing a gift? (A) All that speak may sing, through practice.

56. (Q) Why do I have such a great love for children? (A) For He gave, "It is as Rachel weeping for her children and is not comforted until she knows that which was lost there is in her arms materially again." So may this bring to the self the awakening as nothing or any experience may, for in him will be the blessings to many. [7/18/39 See two-day old daughter's Life Rdg., 1958-1, Par. 56-A, saying that [1958] is not the same soul mentioned in 578-2 that would come to her.]

57. (Q) Will I be able to become a teacher of groups through the new teacher's course fostered by the Ass'n, and is there a message which will help me in taking this course?

(A) To some is given the abilities, through the application of self in the sojourns in the earth, to minister; to some to teach; to some one thing, to some another. With this entity, as it has been seen through the experiences in the earth, to teach is one of those things that is not only innate but is NATURALLY manifested in the experience; and much may be gained and much may be given. As to how to apply it, first know the basis of that thou would teach; through applying it in thine own experience, and it will be found that to give out then is not only the natural bent but - as He gave - there is no thought necessary, for in the selfsame hour it will be given thee that thou shouldst say. Study self, for self is the reflection of that thou thinkest of thy God - and as thou thinkest in thine heart to do, so will thy life be.
