Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [632].

2. Now, as we find, conditions are rather serious. There is so little vitality, and little to build upon. The emaciations in the physical body are such as to give little resistances; yet, as we find, in part the conditions have been found by those that have been seeking for the physical forces that produce the disorder.

3. Yet the applications are not wholly in accord with those that would be for the better for the body, [632].

4. These are conditions as we find them:

5. The body has been in a state of strain that has been produced by adhering tissue in the digestive and in the eliminating system, produced by an injury first to the body. Then with the inflammation arising from infectious forces that have entered through cold and congestion, these injuries became active in themselves; so that this has taken from the body-forces to such an extent as to cause a swelling. Not altogether a growth, but a swelling in the tissue; thus producing a lack of the vital forces in that capable of being assimilated to combat the conditions; hence raising the temperature, making the heart's activity irregular, making the eliminations through the alimentary canal almost nil at times, reducing the activity of the hepatic circulation as to slowing up the circulation through the liver, the kidneys, the spleen, the pancreas and the digestive forces of the body.

6. Not a great deal of medications as taken internally of an astringent or even of a sedative nature would be the most helpful. While sedatives will be required, these so overtax the circulation (that is already depleted) that the body should be kept just as far from such as is possible under the existent conditions.

7. As we find, we would make these applications, that should not interfere but should be helpful with SOME of those

medications being used; but refrain from any DRUG activity internally save those that are of a body-BUILDING nature.

8. We would begin immediately with Castor Oil packs applied continuously for at least twenty-four hours; principally over those areas where the swelling is indicated, in the abdominal area as WELL as across the liver, the spleen, and through the caecum area. Use three to four thicknesses of flannel dipped in Castor Oil and applied warm, as hot as the body can well stand same. As soon as one pack gets cold put on another.

9. Also we would begin with small quantities of Olive Oil taken internally every two or three hours; very small quantities, but only as the body assimilates same. Keep this up. This may add to the gastric forces of the system. All that it will assimilate.

10. We would be mindful more with the diet. The juices of meat; no meats, but the JUICES - as beef juice, the essence of liver, junket, arrowroot, and all such. These will not only be refreshing with the activities of the system but make for buildings in the body.

11. Also use Ventriculin (without the iron) until there is better resistance built.

12. Along the spine, from the base of the head to the lower end (always massaging down; the limbs also, that they may have rest), we would massage the body with a compound combined in this manner:

13. To 4 ounces of Russian White Oil, add: Rub Alcohol.................1 ounce, Witchhazel..................1 ounce, Sassafras Oil.........5 to 10 minims. Shake this well together each time before pouring a small quantity in an open container to use in massaging the body.

14. Do these, and we find the better conditions will be arising for this body.

15. The swelling, the plethora, the tissue that has caused the adherence and the enlargements, must be eliminated by the absorption; for the body in its weakened condition, in its fainting or weakness that almost produces coma at times, could not stand operative forces - and it IS, as we find, not yet an operative case nor one that would be materially aided by such measures; but if all these are applied as we have given better conditions will come for the body of [632].

16. Ready for questions.

17. (Q) Would Armour's Liver Extract be alright?

632-1 Page 3

(A) Not as well as the fresh; but use the Armour's Ventriculin, without the iron!

18. (Q) Should Ventriculin be given according to the directions that go with it? (A) Rather according to the directions of the physician! for these must not be too strenuous, and they must not produce a regurgitation.

19. (Q) Just what was the injury, and when, that produced this condition? (A) This was an injury to the central portion, or just below the navel, that injured the body - striking against something. After the first twelve to fourteen hours of adding the Castor Oil packs (bathing the body off after same, as applied), then we would give more of the general massage over the body; not heavy. This should be done by the nurse or those in charge, and especially along the spine, GENTLY. Then rest for a period, you see; then begin the Castor Oil packs again, giving them for two or three hours at a time, followed by a rest period with the massage; then repeat.

20. We are through for the present. Copy to Father, Special Delivery " " Ass'n file (8/10/34 GD enclosed directions for making pure beef juice.)
