This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of July, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [633], Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Miss [480].

R E A D I N G

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, [633] and those relations with the universe and universal forces; that are recorded by the entity itself.

2. In giving that as may be helpful to the entity, in making the application of the abilities in the present from the material, the mental and spiritual angle also, know that these phases of experience in human endeavor are - or should be - one.

3. Yet the body, as is seen, is but the shadow or the temple of the living soul, or the real I AM that lives on and on.

4. And the records that are made by an entity or soul and body through its experiences in materiality, as seen and known by the carnal mind of man in the earth, are only a portion of the experiences of the soul, or soul in its activity in the various spheres.

5. As it might be said, the childhood and the teen age and the more mature man lap, or are one and the same; yet various phases by the activity of the entity as it has done or does that about Creative Forces which gives life, light and immortality, the expression of an entity that may be its own. Yet if it separates itself from the Creative Forces it must eventually become null and void; for it separates itself from Life itself.

6. The soul, then, must return to its Maker; the WILL being that factor which may be used to carry the entity, the soul, back to the First Cause, to identify itself as being an entity worthy of acclaiming the name that makes it ONE WITH the Whole yet known to be itself, a part of the Whole.

7. As to the astrological aspects, or those sojourns of the soul during the interim of its entrance into materiality, or to the earth plane as termed by man:

8. These are the environs within the earth's activity in and about this present solar system, which is only a part or

parcel of the great whole of the divine universe.

9. Yet, as known and experienced by the application of the entity itself in the analyzing of same, there are the energies in each atom even of the physical body that are the shadows of the whole universe.

10. So the entity or the soul or one body, that is separated and has its abilities for life and activity and movement in its various spheres, is as the atom in the universe; that may make or mar that which will create with the Creator the purpose, the need to which it has been appointed. Or it may turn empty handed, and indeed - as has been given - to outer darkness.

11. The shadows of those things from the sojourns of this entity in Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Venus and the influences of the general system's activity as in the Sun and Moon, have their portion in the very relationships and activity of the entity. These are but the mental urges that arise, and become as the individuality of an entity in expression in the material world; while the appearances in the earth through the various sojourns that are become active in the experience of an entity at any one given place or position or appearance or period, are as but the personality in the entity's experience - and are as the urges from the emotions that have been created.

12. Just as the entity's attending this or that university, this or that place of learning, would make for a parlance peculiar unto itself. Even though individuals may study the same line of thought, one attending Harvard, another Yale, another Oxford, another Stanford, another the University of Arizona, they each would carry with them the vibrations created by their very activity in those environs.

13. In the same way emotions arise from individual activity in a particular sojourn, and are called the SPIRIT of the institution to which the entity may have carried itself in its activity.

14. So we find those astrological sojourns making these vibrations or impressions in the present entity:

15. Mercury brings the high mental abilities; the faculties that at times may become the developing for the soul or at others turned to the aggrandizement of selfish interests.

16. For the entity is among those who have entered the earth during those years when there was the great entrance of those who have risen high in their abilities; and who are then passing through those periods when there must be the application of the will, else the very abilities that have been maintained in the Sun and Mercurian influences will become as stumblingblocks - and they become EXTREMISTS, as

the Uranian influences indicate.

17. So these influences find expression INNATELY in the great store the entity itself places upon position, power, name, this or that degree, this or that social accomplishment, this or that activity.

18. These are the influences that innately arise from the sojourns in Uranus and a combination with Saturn and Mercurian forces; INNATELY.

19. As to their expressions, as they come into or find activity in the material faculties, or come into being into what is known as matter as activative influences upon the minds and the associations of the entity or the individual with its fellow man, they become either very good or very bad.

20. Set thy house in order and keep thy purposes and desires towards creative and constructive forces in thine activities!

21. For the abilities are within thine grasp, my son, to do much good or to do much harm! Thou hast an urge that bespeaks of questionable things! Yet thou hast seen, known, heard, and have those desires in, those things that may be turned so as to make for a constructive force; that not only in thine own day but in thine own heart there may come peace and harmony and understanding!

22. Make the home as a home that is INDEED a shadow of a heavenly home; where peace, harmony, beauty, love, may be the ruling factors! Let not shadows nor doubts nor fears arise! Let not secret thoughts in thine associations or activities mar the beauty of those things that may come in thine experience, must come - as thou must meet thine own self in all thine activities with thy fellow man!

23. For it has been given by Him who is the Maker and the Creator of the influences and forces that manifest in the earth, "As ye do it unto these, my little ones, ye do it unto me!" And, "As ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them!" For "With what measure ye mete, it SHALL BE measured to you again!"

24. Be CONSTRUCTIVE! And let the purposes of thine heart keep thy ways in Him.

25. As to the appearances in the earth and those that have to do with the emotions and the abilities of the entity in the present, we find these are the motivative forces in the present experience:

26. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those periods when there were the settlings in and about that place now known as Dubuque, in Quebec - or WAS then.

27. The entity then was among the settlers from the French land, that were active in establishing relationships with those peoples as traders for the furs, traders for those things that made for the adornments of the bodies of individuals.

28. The entity aided in building and establishing those relationships in such manners as to make for great activity, until there arose the questionable conditions between the French and the English and the early American peoples.

29. Then in the name Hugo Gumblateuel, the entity knew SOMETHING also of the milling, or the preparations of the corn and grain for such activities.

30. Hence those things in the present that deal with peoples' lives and their associations one with another, those activities that may be known as the professional in any line of endeavor, are of the greater interest to the entity.

31. The question ever arising innately and manifestedly in the entity's experience is that, unless those who are active in an influence are beyond question, those who are termed by some as professionals - whether the gambler, the banker, the doctor, the lawyer, the statesman or what - must (to the entity the professional MUST) indeed be above the ordinary.

32. Yet know, my son, he that would be the greater among you, among men, let him be servant of all! whether it be in power in the political, economical, social, financial, home, or in whatever the relations be. He that would be the greatest among you, let him serve the HUMBLEST the better!

33. From that sojourn there arise the interests in the present in the professional life, as the lawyer or the physician; and in either of these fields of activity - or as an assistant in any of these directions - may the greater influence come to the entity.

34. For as given, when the entity - to itself - sees this or that degree, this or that honor, this or that place, it has a decided influence upon the entity; and the entity thinks well of such.

35. As long as the entity thinks well of self, it is alright; but be sure thy brother, thy servant - yea, thy neighbor, thinks as well of thee as thou dost of thyself or better! Yet thinkest thou not well of thine self, it is because sin lieth at thy door!

36. Before that we find the entity was in that land known as the Roman, when there were the periods of much questioning as to WHO was to REPRESENT in the court or in the land of Rome those peoples of the Holy Land.

37. The entity was among the Sanhedrin during that period

when the Holy Land first came under the supervision or rule or power of the Roman peoples.

38. In the name then Josepheush, the entity made overtures for the representation of his peoples, of his activities, among those that were to rule. And through the very activities, through the very comings of those peoples, the entity gradually rose to one of power, one of affluence; yet always QUESTIONED as to the purposes of same. And being fearful of the power, the entity was reduced oft in rank owing to those conditions that arose as envy and strife among his own brethren.

39. In the present those very same influences that make for the urges towards power, place, position, become as an innate urge from those experiences of the entity during that sojourn.

40. Before that we find the entity was in the period when there was the return from captivity of the Chosen People, in the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem, when Nehemiah returned with the orders from the king that had risen in power in the Persian land - or those lands about the mountain areas.

41. The entity then was an aide to the peoples as they returned; coming first with Zerubbabel and aiding with those under Nehemiah. These the entity saw under varied activities; the one disregarding the influence of forces from without, relying wholly upon the spiritual promises from within that they would be cared for, yet with the Nehemiah influence the entity saw those activities wherein there was the trusting to the power of might, to the name of the king, to the effect that this must produce upon those lands and peoples through which the first of the bands under Nehemiah passed.

42. Then in the name Jeel-bached, the entity gained; for the entity held close to those things that became the precepts with those activities under Zerubbabel.

43. Also the entity saw the greater application of those activative forces that impelled the writer of same to say that the work progressed because they all HAD A MIND and a purpose to work, to serve a living God!

44. These should be EVER those influences that prompt the activities of the entity in all its relationships, drawing more and more upon the meeting of that great I AM Presence, as it was given to the fathers of old: "Whom shall I say hath sent me? I AM THAT I AM!"

45. When these influences are relied upon, in the experiences of him who has set his house in order, then such an one may be indeed be guided aright. Do not rely upon the

fleshpots of Egypt, nor the places of the high hills, but rather in HUMBLENESS of purpose serve the Lord; for He is good.

46. Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land, when there was the breaking up of the isles and it had been given out that those who would or were to be saved must journey forth to the various centers to which the leaders had been given the passports.

47. The entity was among those who came first to what is now the Pyrenees, and later to the activities - after they had been set up years before - in the Egyptian land.

48. In the name then Xar-pen, the entity gained and lost and gained. For the entity was among the sons of the Law of One, to whom there was given much power.

49. The changes wrought in the experience of the entity in the environs made for the expression in materiality of feeling that self had been debased, because the service became the greater in the foreign lands or the exchange or changing scenes about the entity.

50. These made for self-indulgences and self-aggrandizements, and the tendency to attempt to hide.

51. Know in thine heart, my son, that what is done in secret must be proclaimed from the mountain top in thine own experience. Even though to man's mind or idea it may be a few thousand years or centuries, you must meet that ye sow. In WHOM WILL ye meet same? In the strength of thine own self? Rather harken to that thou hast heard as of yore; "If ye will be my people, I will be thy God."

52. In so doing may ye bring in this experience, in thine activities; those days when ye by many will be blessed, ye by many will be called blessed; for ye may deal to thy fellow man that which may not only bring harmony and peace but joy and happiness to the children of him who seeks His face.

53. Let thy yeas be yea; let thy nays be nay, IN the Lord. For He is RIGHT, and will do thee good!
