1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [642], present in this room.

2. Now, as we find, the conditions that disturb the better physical functioning of the body are of long standing; while the present existent disturbing forces are rather from an exaggerated or acute condition that did arise, and the condition at present is somewhat better.

3. These, we find, are conditions that disturb many portions of the system; and while not as yet a constitutional condition, it borders very much onto same - from the reactions that are seen. At times the effects have been such as to cause a misinterpretation of the real cause of the condition.

4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [642] we are speaking of, present in this room:

5. In times back there were those reactions that have caused an unbalancing of the elements that go to make up what may be called a proper chemical balance necessary in the system. We had then an expression of what may be sometimes called a catarrhal condition, which developed in the sympathetic functioning system, by the amount of reduced circulation to the head, throat and nasal cavities. And this, tending to be of a drying nature, affected the muco-membranes especially in the upper portion, or in the head, antrum, nasal cavity, throat at times, the ears even. Not to the extent as to produce falling antrums or falling Eustachian tubes, yet these have been at times affected. This reducing then the quantity of the activity of the lymph circulation has caused lesions to form in various portions of the body, especially in the soft tissue; more adhesions than lesions, as related to muscular forces, though the toxic poisons that arise in the system from the poor eliminations (as it has affected throughout the system the lymph and emunctory

642-1 Page 2

circulation) cause the banking up of accumulations - or the lack of proper eliminations; affecting, to be sure, the blood supply, until we have an unbalanced condition in same, at times red blood running below normal and the white - especially in the leucocyte and the urea - making for lack of the quantity of blood in both its whole circulation and in its component parts. This is indicated by the character or type of distresses caused in same. For, at times we have had those experiences of a rash in the cuticle on various portions of the body. At other periods we have had occasionally a tendency for boils or abrasions, that cause considerable distress in portions of the system. At others we have found there were periods when the digestion was so upset as to find little that would assimilate properly with the body; tendency for keeping the body in rather a tautness. And lacking in replenishing powers made for these forms of adhesions in the antrum, the head, at times in the caecum - as we have at the present, and an action that has tended to cause the engorging of the colon; making for in the extremes, or in the lower portions of the body, not exactly rheumatic conditions nor wholly muscular reactions, but sciatic lumbago - these effects have been in the system at various times.

6. That the body in its own mental forces has been capable of coping with much, by the manner of activity of the mental forces of the body, has used often those things that have produced - and do produce for the sympathetics - an aid to adjusting, through those activities, without the use of those things to create a balance.

7. As we find then, in meeting these conditions in the physical forces of this body, [642] we are speaking of, all these conditions should be taken into consideration. And it becomes necessary to meet in a physical body conditions that are in those elements that may be acted upon by the forces and influences which will affect conditions in their proper relations one to another.

8. No body, no mind, should construe from this that there is the attempt to say that the spiritual life in a body is not capable wholly at all times of caring for or directing that necessary for keeping an even balance. But if that balance has attained such proportions as to cause those very forces or influences in the body to set themselves up as in adhesions or lesions, or destructive forces in the elements of the vital forces or organs themselves, then those elements that are constructive and antipathetic or in sympathy (according to the needs) must be added also to the body to bring about a coordination. For, should the body

642-1 Page 3

not coordinate in its blood supply, in its nerve reaction, in its functioning of the organs as related to digestion, assimilation or eliminations, we have disruptions - as a house divided against itself.

9. Then, in meeting the needs as we would find, the more active force in creating a balance would be to take in the system those properties that will add elements that will create such a stimuli to those portions of the body that have been disturbed by these drying effects and the lack of the blood and lymph and forces necessary to create a balance. And these, as we find, would be the better through those that would work with the glands of the system; as would be found in the atomic iodine, or Atomidine. This would be taken in small quantities, increased at a time and then gradually decreased, so as to make for a proper balance. Now the effect of these properties at first will be to produce rather an irritation, but the quantity would then only be reduced (should such an irritation arise) and we would continue to take same in this manner or order: First we would begin with two minims twice each day in half a glass of water. Each day increase the quantity until five minims are being taken twice each day. Take the five minims for only two days. Then begin over again with the two minims, and increase. When this course has been repeated three times, leave it off for a week and then take another course of the same.

10. During such periods also it would be well that there be the manipulations that will assist the glands that are being stimulated, and the organs themselves that are being enlivened by the change that will be brought about by these activities in the body, as to produce better coordinations with the eliminating system, so that drainages are set up without causing an arising of inflammation in any of the centers where there have been those activities that cause or produce the effects from the adhesions; as in the nasal cavity, antrum, caecum, intestinal area itself, and the digestive system. Hence the stimulations to the various portions of the body would be in the upper cervical area and the head, neck, face, and specifically in the 9th and 10th dorsal center or plexus, as well as those that will aid the adrenals in the 4th lumbar center to drain and make for a proper activity through the eliminations in the kidneys themselves.

11. We would also be mindful during these periods that there would be the diets rather inclined toward the alkalin than the acid nature, for the acids tend to make for the irritations to those portions of the body where the

642-1 Page 4

distresses have existed.

12. It would be well at times for such electrical vibrations as the ultra-violet or the plain violet ray to be given to stimulate capillary and the superficial circulation, as well as deeper - when they would be applied soon after or before the manipulations and adjustments osteopathically would be given.

13. We will also find that the sprays carrying the oils will prevent the irritations from dust, pollen, or other conditions in the nose, mouth and throat; and if these are used occasionally they will be most beneficial.

14. Do that. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) What oils should be used in the spray? (A) Those that are of the antiseptic nature; which would be combining eucalyptol and the active forces or principles that work with the muco-membranes of the throat and head and antrums.

16. (Q) Is active tuberculosis present? (A) It is not. From those actions of the lymph and the forces where there has been the activity of the catarrhal condition, this is quite a different nature from tubercle and its activity in lungs. A drying condition, yes; that has irritated the throat, yes; that has made for the tendency at times of temperature and a very slow hepatic circulation; but not tubercle.

17. (Q) Is the use of tobacco detrimental? (A) In moderation not detrimental. Rather is it supplying to elements in the system in such a manner that the reactory forces are NOT detrimental; rather helpful. But excess is harmful.

18. (Q) Is the continued use of anabolic foods recommended? (A) This, of course, can be carried to excess; for there is the supplying of elements and the lack of other forces or influences in the anabolic foods that makes it rather straining on the body at times. Not too much; or do not depend wholly upon it. For the system always, as Life itself, attempts to use the best it has to do the best it can with what it has to do with. Hence create a balance in the vitamins and in the amount of the necessary foods for creating a sufficient quantity of heat, but also sufficient quantity of ELIMINATING forces - see?

19. (Q) Any advice regarding the diet? (A) As indicated, keep to those that are more alkalin than acid. Those that are naturally easily assimilated, and that make for increase in the lymph and the blood flow - as we would find in this character of an outline, though this may be changed or altered - it is only given as a basis:

642-1 Page 5

Mornings - citrus fruit, but do not mix this with dry cereals - either use one or the other; neither should there be any quantity of sugars with them, preferably calcium than sugar with the citrus fruits, see? We would also in the middle period have DRIED milk, preferable to raw milk, in which there would be carried such as egg or a stimulation that will make for more gastric forces. At least one meal each day should consist of only fresh green vegetables; not cooked, but all raw. This is for creating a balance. At first it will tend to appear to create gas, but keep on using. For eliminating the fecal forces in the body we would use the enemas. Then we would have periods when there would be used the JUICE of beef, but no meat taken, you see - just beef JUICE. Liver, tripe, all the enzymes - especially the Ventriculin character - these would be more helpful to the body, as we find, in building up through the food values.

20. (Q) In regards exercise, any advice? (A) Necessarily there should be taken sufficient exercise to keep the extremities, as well as the general respiratory system, coordinating with those things done for the torso or the active forces in digestive area. Walking and the movement of the arms (not too strenuous) are exercises that would be the better for the body. And always rise on the toes well when taking the exercise or walking, for this will strengthen the weakened conditions that have come at times in the lower extremities and in the limbs.

21. (Q) Just how should the oils be compounded, and the proportions? (A) These should be given preferably by the one that would make the manipulations; using those of the antiseptic nature, as indicated, that prevent DRYING in the portions that have been and are in distress. The better compound would be an equal quantity each of Eucalyptol, Tincture of Benzoin and Russian White Oil; but use in spray rather than as a gargle or wash, you see. If we will do these, as we find, we will bring for this body the near normal conditions.

See enclosed letter for Dr. Richardson [M. L. Richardson, D.O.], who has had experience with following the rdgs. with remarkable results, and who can give the osteopathic manipulations, violet ray and spray. You may leave this letter with him, instead of your whole reading - if you so desire. Below is an ALKALIN FORMING FOOD list [Copied from 1925 SCIENTIFIC WEIGHT CONTROL BOOKLET by Continental Scale Works, Chicago], of which your principal diet should consist: All fruits, fresh and dried, except large prunes, plums and cranberries.
