This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of September, 1934, in accordance with request made by Dr. O. O. Snedeker and Miss [480], through Active Membership of Mrs. [601], in the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. - said reading being contributed by Edgar Cayce without charge.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [655].

2. Now, as we find, there are conditions that are produced by malformations with this body; hence these are naturally predicated by a psychic or prenatal influence.

3. While this is primarily an affectation in the structural portions OUTWARDLY, upon the closer examination it will be seen by following the associations or connections of the ends of the nerve system, in the ganglia along the cerebrospinal system that coordinate with the SYMPATHETIC system - from there to the palate or roof of the mouth, rather than to the vocal box, that there is prevented the natural coordination and functioning of the organs IN coordination of the sensory system. And it would be seen by a closer study that there are defects at times, too, in the coordinating of the other senses of the body with the attempts to give expression to their effect, or reflecting upon the activities of the body as relating to giving expression to same. The touch - certain things are abhorrent to the body; as those things that are very soft or fuzzy. In vision - certain colors affect the body; as do certain odors.

4. These are merely as illustrations that there are the ENTANGLEMENTS, as it were, in the ganglia from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the base of the brain, with the division of the SENSORY activities to not only the vocal box but to the coordinating of the expressions of the body to their reaction in the sensory system.

5. Then, in meeting the needs of the conditions, we find

that the rest of the body is near to normal in most ways. These defects arise - well, these would be made more plain were there the considerations from the activities of the entity in its former appearances; [for its tongue was removed, and the entity's activities in previous experiences were in removing others'!] (left out of original copy).

6. But there is the centralizing of the condition from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal, as associated with the coordinating of the plexus that coordinate with the sympathetic system in the 3rd and 4th centers or plexus of the cervical area. Then, to be sure, the axis in the 1st and 2ND cervical must be stimulated.

7. We would not only stimulate the flow of the circulation through these portions of the system with the massage and corrective forces through the osteopathic adjustments, but we would add the low form of electrical vibration that comes from the wet cell battery. The one that would be the negative pole would be made in the shape of a clamp over the vocal box, in the throat, just above the Adam's apple and just below there towards the apex of the vocal box itself; this anode would be made of silver or nickel. The positive anode would be made of copper, and would be attached first - between the 1st and 2nd dorsal area; while the negative anode would be attached over the vocal box as given. At the next treatment (these would be given about two or three times a week), attach the copper plate first to the 3rd and 4th cervical area. The attachments would remain on, at each treatment, for twenty to twenty-five minutes; NOT LONGER!

8. As we are able to form those connections of coordination in those portions of the body, the nerve ends striking through for their reaction, we will find we will bring relief to this body, [655].

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) Are the definite lesions in his spinal cord which Dr. Snedeker has found the cause of his condition? (A) These are the EFFECTS. In this particular instance, then, we are to remove the EFFECTS, ALLOWING the activities to flow through; and we will find the disturbance in the palate and vocal cords will be relieved - and their ability to function. Of course, the manipulations and the applications of the wet appliance are to be used consistently; and at every treatment there should be the continual attempt for the body to first declare - ah-ah-ahr-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-H.

11. We are through.
