1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [658], present in this room, and the problem which confronts her in obtaining a patent on her hair tonic preparation. You will answer the questions which she will ask regarding this, and also regarding the compounding of the preparation.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [658] - this we have had before. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) As I must prove that #1 acid is the foundation, how can this be done? (A) This may be done by the tests as may be made in laboratory for the active forces in the preparations, as respecting acid's activity with the other properties. Necessary that this be sworn to by a chemist of repute, see?

4. (Q) How can I get a patent for my hair tonic? (A) These preparations come under the Pure Food and Drug Act, and are registered rather than patented, coming under the registration law in the serial numbers of compounds in cosmetics. Then, there is the registration and the copyright of the ingredients for the compound itself. These are the manners in which these are obtained for protection; that is, as this: The registration comes under that of the trademark under which same is made, and the manner in which the applications are made to, or for the correction of, the disorder as respecting the use of same - is under that of the copyright law - see?

5. (Q) How much of this #1 acid must I use to make the tonic perfect? (A) In the preparations, as has been given, to make the perfect compound, and the acid as the basis, this would be used as one to five, see?

6. (Q) One to five? (A) Other ingredients would be five, the acid would be one.

7. (Q) This is not plain to the body. (A) As of one ounce of one, five ounces of the other ingredients combined, see? That's the proportion, or one

gallon to five gallons - see?

8. (Q) In making the sage tea, what kind of water must I use, pure, mineral, lithia, or distilled water? or which would be best? (A) The lithia water, provided it is of the proper proportion, or it may be made in this MANNER and HAVE the the proper proportion! To five gallons of the electrified - pure - water, see, we would add the lithia tablets (two grain) five to the five gallons, or one tablet to the gallon - see?

9. (Q) How much sage to this amount of water, the one gallon? (A) Three ounces.

10. (Q) Three ounces of sage to one gallon of water? (A) Then REDUCE this by boiling, see, to one-fourth - one-fourth of the amount, see? or the five gallons to four gallons, see? and the one gallon to three quarts.

11. (Q) Under what name would it be best to market my hair tonic? (A) This should be rather chosen from names, or that as may be GIVEN would be the Restorer, or the Perfect Hair Tonic - see? These had best be chosen, though, from the names as may be selected by the one preparing same. Then these may be given.

12. (Q) How would Modell be? That's French for [658]. (A) This would be well! Modell would be well!

13. (Q) Modell, the Perfect Restorer? (A) Modell, the Perfect Hair Restorer.

14. (Q) How much acid must I use in Hind's cream to make a stringent? (A) To one ounce we would add twenty minums, well worked in.

15. (Q) Will this hair tonic be a success prepared in this manner? (A) As we find, it would be a success. There would be a little slowness in the first beginning of the distribution, but if these properties - or the combine - or the whole set are distributed, as the properties that will bring about the proper activity for the body in its protection, this - as we find - will be a success financially, as WELL as BRINGING better products to the use of the public. As we would find, we would carry it directly TO the public - see? Then this will make for the demands in the various places where such are used, as WELL as distributing same to the various salons where such are used as trials or tests, see?

16. (Q) Is there any other advice regarding this that will be of benefit to the body at this time? either regarding the tonic or in obtaining patent? (A) In obtaining the patents, these - it is necessary that there be the proper reports from those as test the chemistry of same, for they come under the Pure Food and Drug Act,

see? Then in the preparation for the registration, this should be made as to the seal, or the type of bottle, or BOTH - see? Then, when these are in shape, in form, the registration and the copyright of the manner in which this is to be used makes a perfect protection for the product itself. Do that.

17. (Q) What chemist would be best? (A) A State chemist is necessary, for the proper verification.

18. (Q) What size bottle would be profitable to market same in? (A) The three to four ounce bottle would be the better size, see.

19. (Q) What price should be asked for same? (A) Dollar. Type of bottle would be well to consider also, as to its shape, as to the printing or the labels on same - see? These would be well to be in order WITH the name, as well as that as is seen in the BENEFITS of the product - see? A bottle - that is, not of the USUAL shape - which makes in cost very LITTLE more, and makes an attractive package or carton when made for distribution; as would be for the other preparations, let them be in ORDER - see? These, we will find, will more than pay for themselves - see?

20. (Q) What should be put on the bottle, in the way of printing? (A) Rather that of the form in which the restoration and the use of same, with not too MUCH of the printing - but in order as to show WHAT same is, what it carries in the way of the alcohol content - which, to be sure, is necessary - as to the preservatives in same, would be necessary - then these will make for a beautiful package, as will be seen. More precaution, or more time should be taken in the booklet, or leaflet, or folder as would be enclosed WITH same, as to the use and the application, as to how often and when, and as to the manner in which the hair should be cared for before this is applied, how it should be done afterwards - see? These applications may be applied with or without the use of the soaps, or of the other preparations as go with same. As we will FIND, this will naturally work itself into a whole set, or layout, of the combinations for the toilette - see? Work this in this manner, and we will find these WILL succeed.
