1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [658], present in this room, who seeks advice and counsel as to the completion of her chemical preparations. You will answer the questions which she will ask regarding these.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [658] - this we have had before; also those preparations that have been contemplated and worked with by the body. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Regarding the problems that confront me with the hair tonic preparation: What can be used to remove the gummy substance from Acid #1, that is non-poisonous and that will comply with the Pure Food Law? (A) As we find, these properties may be compiled or compounded in this manner: While this will be an addition of another acid, in a manner, but will the acid as is to be used be made or prepared in this manner, the addition of this to that of Acid #1, as WE find, would be the more beneficial to the growth, the more beneficial to restoring the color, and the lustre. Take as this: Where coffee grounds have been used, see? and with these prepare as of the coffee, just as making coffee - see? so that the hydrometer test, or water test, would be five - see? This we would take, then, in these proportions: Acid #1, as has been used,....................1 ounce, The preparation of the coffee, or coffee - which gives a color - but this is tanic - Now we are dealing with NON-poisonous, and complying with any ingredient, see?................1/2 ounce, Sage Tea, strength as has been given, see...1/2 ounce, and alcohol as the preservative, which will keep the coloring matter, and which will prevent any of the properties

becoming as of scum, or settled. Sufficient to preserve same, or to the 2 ounces that we have then, you see, would be added alcohol - 85% solution, see - GRAIN alcohol; not wood, nor denatured - but GRAIN alcohol, 85% - 1/4 ounce. Then the whole property, or compound, would be 2 and 1/4 ounces of solution. Now these proportions may be made by quarts, gallons, or the like - but this quantity would give sufficient test. Do this. There will be the necessity for some experimentation. Remember that these are GROUND coffees - see? and that that has been used, but use as the specific gravity test; not as any other - for we would not keep it compared - see?

4. (Q) The #2 Acid, should that be left out entirely? (A) It may be left out entirely, for we are creating another acid - see? and which carries some coloring, which makes the less amount of the other - see?

5. (Q) Could anything be used instead of the Sage Tea, that would give the same color? (A) There may be others compounded. This would be the very much the cheaper, and - as we find - there would be no objections.

6. (Q) Regarding the last letter I wrote about finances, has it been received and when shall I expect to hear from it? (A) As we find, as yet it hasn't been received - but WILL be by the first of the coming month, and should hear in three to five days.

7. (Q) Regarding lotion: How much alum? How much Glycerine? How much salt water? (A) There will be better were the ROSE water used, than too much salt water, in this. We would make the solution rather in the SOLUTION state, or stage - see? Alum water to a certain gravity, see? that is, dissolve the same so that it may be FELT - but does not become too heavy, see, in same - or specific gravity of about 4-1/2, see? Then THIS prepared in this manner: We would also have the salt water as this: Use rather that of a combination of lithia water, than plain or pure water - see? taking pure water. Let's get the ingredients together, see? Pure water 1 gallon. In this we would have - (that is, that's distilled water) a 5 grain lithia tablet, see? Alright! Now we have this as the proportion which it would be - see? Now the alum water, with its gravity, 1 ounce - see? Glycerine 1/4 ounce - see? Now add in this rotation:

658-8 Page 3

The salt, as has been added now to the proportion as given - in the lithia - as has been used heretofore. Then to this of the salt water add, see - we have commenced with the ounce of the alum water - see? the 1/4 of the glycerine - see? of the salt water; that is, has the lithia in it - the proportion as has been used before - see? 1 ounce - see? Then ROSE water, see - which is made, of course, of part glycerine also - but ROSE water, as it comes, 1/4 ounce. Then we have a good lotion!

8. (Q) Regarding the powder: How much starch, and how much zinc oxide? (A) As we find, this is excellent - but with a little preparation there may be added that as a base, which will be much more effective - see? It will be more beneficial, not storing or closing the pores as so many do. Use as a base, not the largest quantity - to be sure, but as a base - talc; not talc powder - but talc!

9. (Q) What is that made of? (A) It's mined out of the ground! Talc, in its original state, but PREPARED properly. From this; that is, from this talc - as is ordinarily mined - there will be taken - these are made - there are taken all other ingredients out, see? There are talc mines in Alabama, Tennessee, Texas. These, as we find, we would take then - of talc - this refined talc, as your base - 1/2 ounce, see? Of the corn starch, see, as is powdered very fine, 1 ounce of this. Then of the other ingredients - this makes for the oxide 1/3, see? with that as has been toolerized (?) - zinc toolerized (?). Then we have a powder!

10. (Q) Does this mean one-third of an ounce? (A) One-third of an ounce of zinc toolerized (?).

11. (Q) Any other advice and counsel for the body regarding any of these? (A) Now with this that has been causing the trouble - the tonic - make some experimentations with these, see? If necessity demands, increase the amount of the sage for heavier coloring - or there may be that that is made for blonde, or that for brunette, or that for RED hair. These may be altered in these various ways, see?

12. (Q) What proportion should be used for different colors? (A) These had best be EXPERIMENTED with, see? Get the one first, so that it is of general - THEN we may change these as will make for that as adds peroxide that would blonde, see? or that as would add the color matter of serpentine for the red, or we may make it that that's very fashionable at present - the platinum.

13. We are through for the present.
