1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [658], present in this room, and the bottle of hair tonic preparation which she holds in her hand. You will answer the questions which she will ask regarding this:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, Mrs. [658], present in this room. Also the preparation as prepared here. Such of these as we have had before show in the present a different manner of compounding, the addition of some and less quantity of others, and a variation in same. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Is this preparation a perfect hair tonic as it now is? (A) It may be called a perfect hair tonic, in that it will restore the lustre and color, and will not be detrimental to the scalp nor to the complexion in any manner. Of course, much might be said as respecting others, that while they may change the lustre or the color but do not add food values for the scalp itself.

4. (Q) Will this also restore gray hair to its natural color? (A) Where this is caused (that is, gray hair) by premature conditions, or where the scalp is treated sufficient time that allows the reviving of those bulbous conditions in the hair or scalp that produces same, it will restore; and not just color, but RESTORE to the NATURAL tend and trend of the hair.

5. (Q) Will this change remove the gluey effect? (A) As is indicated, the greater portion of same is removed, and this that is left is not a DETRIMENTAL thing or condition to the scalp or the hair, for this may be removed by any good shampoo, or that as has been prepared for the use WITH same.

6. (Q) Will this change remove the dry effect? (A) Will remove the dry effect; for the dry effect is produced more by the drying of that of the gum substance that did remain, rather than of the property itself - see? So, with this removed, with the shampoo used occasionally

with same, then it gives a better effect.

7. (Q) How much peroxide for making blonde hair? (A) This, as we find, would be well, for this type, type or character of such to be used as a separate solution, then this used immediately while still damp with same - see? and the AMOUNT would depend upon the color, see, or like as is desired.

8. (Q) How much, or what proportion? (A) One to ten.

9. (Q) One part peroxide to ten parts water? (A) One part peroxide to ten parts water.

10. (Q) How much serpentine for red hair? (A) This would be used in the same way and manner, and would be twelve and a half parts of the water to one part of the serpentine.

11. (Q) How to make a platinum blonde? (A) Here we would add the same of the peroxide WITH the serpentine see? half and half, an eight percent solution in the using of same.

12. (Q) Eight parts water and one part of the mixture? (A) Eight parts water, one part mixture.

13. (Q) What could be used to make hair grow on bald heads? (A) This, to be sure, depends - as is known - on that which has produced the condition, see? The BETTER solution, as we find, that may be used for such, as will enliven that as would - for a general combination, see? that is, taking all characters of this character of disturbance - This does not mean that it is an absolute cure, for there ARE such bald heads where the root is so destroyed that this may NOT be grown at all; but prepare a solution first of the oil - as is CRUDE oil; not that that has been refined at all, but is of a specific gravity of eighteen to twenty, see - this combined, now, with ALL parts - of whether it is the asphaltum base, or of a combination of asphaltum and of the basics that paraffin in same, does not matter. None of the gas, none of the carbons, are removed - see? but this cut - see - with that of kerosene - see? which has its base, of course, in the same solution - so that it may be used. Then, when this is removed - that is, after this has been massaged - small quantity - half teaspoonful over a whole head - then cut OFF with that of water that has stood in Irish potatoes, that supply a calcium to the skin that will enliven the roots of the hair and make same grow - see? and a diet would be given, also, that will - at least one meal each day of raw carrots and raw Irish potatoes, in a salad form. In preparing the potato water, it would be done in this

658-9 Page 3

manner: The potatoes pared, see? cut up rather as DICED potatoes - not mashed, but diced rather fine - water standing on this for at least twenty-four hours. This we would find, at a high temperature, would sour easily - but this would be PRESERVED by the addition of bay rum - see? bay rum in the proportion of one part of bay rum to three parts of the water solution, where it has stood over the potatoes - see? As in this manner: To each pound of the potatoes, diced (and this is prepared of that that is at least one year old - the potato, see?), standing for twenty-four hours - one pound of the potatoes to two pounds of the water - see?

14. (Q) Two pounds of water is how much? (A) Pint's a pound!

15. (Q) What proportion of crude oil and kerosene? (A) The crude oil in its natural state, cut with the kerosene until it is usable, or which will be about two parts of the crude oil - two ounces of crude oil to one ounce of the kerosene.

16. (Q) Any other advice regarding the lotion? (A) This is well, as we find. In the various stages of this, this will be well to be tested by temperature - by dampness as well as humidity, by heat as well as by cold, to see or to determine the effect upon same, as it will have a different effect at different temperatures. The water, or that with which it is used - or the temperature in which it would be used - will be found to be best at sixty-five to seventy.
