1. GC: You will have before you the body & enquiring mind of [658], present in this room, who seeks advice, counsel & guidance as to her mental & material affairs & associations. You will answer the questions which she will ask regarding all of these.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [658] - this we have had before.
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) What can be done to relieve my head? (A) The condition that disturbs the head is produced more by the distraughtness or pressure that is made upon the circulation, through the muco-membranes of the head, nasal cavities, throat, and the like. This is from conditions that have disturbed the body. Sympathetically, there is produced a reaction to the hypogastrics that makes for a disorder with the digestive system, so that there are times when the digestive system allows fermentation. Then, this produces a pressure again to the head, and is still the basis of that disturbance where there have been accumulations of poisons from a deterred circulation. In removing the condition, then, we would use an inhalant for the muco-membranes in head, throat, in the antrums and soft tissue of the face, made in this manner: To 4 ounces of grain alcohol, add: Eucalyptus, Oil of.,..................20 minims, Rectified Creosote.....................5 minims, Tincture of Benzoin...................15 minims, Oil of Turp............................5 minims, Canadian Balsam........................5 minims, Tolu in solution......................30 minims. Keep this solution in a container twice the size of the
658-13 Page 2
quantity, or an eight ounce glass corked container. Only shake solution together when this is to be inhaled; then inhale deep into the nostrils (that is, from the bottle itself), either side, and into the throat. This solution is only an antiseptic, so far as cleansing powers are concerned, but is very penetrating in its effect and will clear the head. So much, now, for the CAUSES; for these inhalations, as given, are for effects, see? In reaching those conditions where there has been produced the tendency of a thickening of the wall in the hypogastric or upper portion of the stomach itself, we would use this: These should be taken preferably at even-tide, or before retiring: Take one day a teaspoonful of Milk of Magnesia. The next day take two teaspoonsful of Milk of Bismuth, to which there is added five drops of Lactated Pepsin. These, as we find, with watching of the diet, will remove the causes. Well that a massage be taken over the lower portion of the cervical and the upper dorsal area, either with the electrically driven vibrator or with the hand massage at least twice each week. Now this will be slow in its activity, but the relief to the head - and of that trouble from the digestive regurgitation, or lack of pepsin in the system, or the lacteal fluids for digestion - will be almost immediate. Do that.
5. (Q) How long should the Milk of Bismuth and Magnesia be kept up? (A) Until the trouble is removed, and then take again when it becomes necessary, see? These are given in very small doses, to be sure, but will prove effective. The inhalations would be taken two or three times each day. Especially will these aid in the breathing, in the pains that come between the eyes and at the back of head and top of head. Should it become necessary that any portion of this be used in a spray, or an atomizer, it maybe weakened by adding two parts of water to one part of this solution, see? but shake the solution together before it is mixed with
658-13 Page 3
the water, to be sure. This, then, may be used in a spray, but will not be necessary if this is kept properly by the deep inhalations into each side of nostril and deep into the throat.
6. (Q) Should I open a night club in my hotel, and would it be a success? (A) Better were it opened adjoining, where the greater portion of the operations are, than in the hotel proper, as we would find. This would make for a success, provided there is first obtained the membership that would be satisfactory in their associations and relations. This membership would INSURE the success of the undertaking.
7. (Q) Are there any suggestions as to the best management of it? (A) Well that these two considerations be given, that there is the proper kind of matron chosen as an active companion for younger people, and the proper kind of attendant that would act in capacity of meeting and making agreeable for all who would attend in every social way and manner. This does not indicate that there are to be added expenditures of a great nature in such undertaking. Get the SPIRIT, or the idea that much has been lacking in the conditions that have been prevalent in visitors and even in home associations in this particular resort, and that not one has given the proper attention to being able to make the associations such as to induce companionship or relationships as such that these become agreeable; hence we find that in organizing such a group there should be not only young people but the young matrons and ALL should be considered, and so arrange that visitors to other hotels, or to other places, are ALWAYS received as if they were in the position of being of the same family see? Then we will find that, this begun NOW would gradually grow to be one of the OUTSTANDING attractions of the Beach! Of course, to be sure, there is to be the consideration of the character of associates, or the manner in which this is to be conducted; but these will more than take care of themselves, if the proper policies are set in the beginning; for it will then be something that will be looked to by everyone as an ideal of their OWN making and undertaking! All matrons, all families, all mothers would feel, with the proper kind of matron, that their daughters, their sons, will be given PROPER consideration, and due consideration given all relationships and associations that would come about.
8. (Q) Would it be wise for me to sell my hotel at present? (A) Not if these other things are to be considered!
9. (Q) Is there anything of value buried on the corner of
658-13 Page 4
the Newcastle Annex? [Newcastle Hotel, 12th & Ocean, Va. Beach, Va.] (A) Not as we find.
10. (Q) How can I make or get some money at once? (A) Organize this into a club and there'll be enough, sufficient for the memberships at the beginning to have a good deal of money at once!
11. (Q) Any suggestions as to the persons to help in this undertaking? (A) The body should first consider well what has been given here, and then make in its own mind the various associations of various individuals, in their respective sphere, and their standing in the community, and associations, see? and then choose from among those that association which would be fitting; because, as has been given, the body itself has a great deal of intuition or insight as to what, who, how individuals fit into the various conditions or various fields that may be covered, or places filled by individuals, and there will come TO the body that necessary for the undertaking. When the decision has been arrived at, as to just how this would be conducted, then begin! The memberships should be paid quarterly, as dues, IN ADVANCE - and cards carried.
12. (Q) How much should be the dues? (A) From $25 to $50 a year.
13. (Q) What ingredient could I add to my hair tonic to give it more coloring? (A) Not necessary, as we find, for the addition to make it of more coloring; for the effects that are produced are those most necessary.
14. (Q) What proportion of the ingredients for my blonde hair formula should I use? (A) These, and kindred conditions that are to be used, for the various types of hair, as to how it has been kept in the past, may be best found by the experimentation; not necessary in the beginning or at first to experiment on the head itself, but on switches or hair that is real but that may be used as experimentations - see? The same as may be had by preparing that which may make for the permanent waves, in the form that may make the hair into whatever character of wave that would be desired. In this we would begin as this: (and this is the proper time of year to gather the herb for this). Take the poor persimmon, the bark of the root of same, with the seed of the fruit of same - see? equal parts in weight. Put together; boil to that constituent where (the seed, of course, will be cracked) when strained off this is made or
658-13 Page 5
passed through a distillation; and this product when drawn off only needs to be combed into the hair.
15. (Q) Is that for the wave fluid? (A) Isn't that just what we have been talking about!
