(Body and enquiring mind, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to her mental and material affairs; especially as to the best steps for her to take considering the position in which she finds herself in regard to the foreclosure of the ... Hotel. Questions.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [658], present in this room, and those conditions in the mental and material way that confront the body at this time, especially that as related to the ... Hotel.
2. Now, as we find, there have been those conditions respecting same that have made for some misunderstandings. These, then, having in mind definite arrangements respecting the use to which same can be put, showing then some favoritism in the present circumstance; seek to go about to take advantage of the situation.
3. As we find, in meeting the situations in the present, if there is not the ability to make satisfactory understandings with those in authority about same, then we would re-finance same through the bank with a direct loan - or through the re-finance corporation for the use of such institutions that are capable of showing that there are the running expenses of same, with a definite income to meet for three years the interest, with even a small amount upon the principal. And the filing of same direct with this corporation would prevent any immediate foreclosure and give the opportunity for the making such arrangements.

5. (Q) Must I go into bankruptcy? (A) If there is the ability to make these arrangements, not necessary. Should this, then, not be desired (that is, to make these arrangements), either with the direct loan or through the finance corporation, then it would be better to go into bankruptcy.

(A) The re-finance - Government Re-finance Corporation!
7. (Q) Can I get the Nansemond Dining Room at Ocean View for special dinners? If so, would it be a success? (A) If this were run on the same basis and policies that have been used with the ..., it could be made a success. This has not as yet been promised to anyone. Through Wells, as we find, this may be done.
8. (Q) If I can make this loan, will that save the ... from foreclosure? (A) Would save the ... from foreclosure. Go direct first to those authorities in Washington, which would refer same back to Baldwin here, which would then make for the investigations - and not an expense of any nature to the body, unless there is the activity that saves same; and, as we find, THIS can be made through the re-finance corporation, ESPECIALLY under the later Acts that have set aside those amounts for such conditions. For it is a home as well as a beneficial institution to those whom the body and its activities serve.
9. (Q) Should the body go to Washington or send a representative? (A) All is needed is either to phone or wire to Jones or to the President direct.
10. (Q) Any other information or advice that would be a help or benefit to this body at this time? (A) As we find respecting these, these are the proper procedures, and they will get going direct the NECESSARY consideration, you see. Understand, it's to be referred back, of course, but go direct - and thus have the Government stop any foreclosure.
11. (Q) Just how should she approach the Government? (A) Tell them the situations, what's necessary! Tell them what the situation is, ask them to stop it! Do this and, as we find, this CAN be made - if it is that most desired. If it is not, do NOT allow self to be DRAINED entirely - but resort to the measures through the assignment.
