1. EC: (In going over name and address, "Yes - from Montgomery!") [GD's note: EC consciously knew of her family and that before marrying she had lived in Montgomery.]
2. Yes, we have the body, [662]. Now, as we find, there is a complication of disorders that disturb the better physical functioning of this body. At times when application is made for one disturbance it works to a hardship upon other disturbances in the body; yet, as we find, in the main, the greater portion of these can be eliminated. It will require, however, that there be considerable persistence, and consistent activity upon the part of the body itself, and to eradicate from the mental mind the necessity of having to be unwell to control others!
3. In giving, then, that which will be helpful, we find these as the disturbing factors in this body:
4. First, in the BLOOD SUPPLY, we find this shows a disturbance in the metabolism of the system. While the heart's activity becomes erratic at times, this is as much from the general nerve condition as from anything else; though, as has been indicated from complications, there ARE factors that make for a contribution at times to this disorder through the digestive system; and with those subluxations that exist in the cerebrospinal system making for a slowed circulation through portions of the body, and the tendency at times for the body to adjust itself from this condition of congestion in the sympathetic system adds TO this disturbance in the form of disturbances in the equalizing of the eliminating systems. Hence we have periods of indigestion when gases form, periods when there is a fullness in the throat, periods when there is an activity in the kidneys and from the bladder that becomes rather aggravating. These are the systems of elimination attempting to carry their portion of the burden of the
662-1 Page 2
poisons that have been accumulations from time to time through the activities, both of the imaginative or the sympathetic nervous system and disturbed conditions through pressures in the cerebrospinal system and toxic forces that are FROM a disturbed or SUBJUGATED impulse through the nerve and blood stream.
5. The blood itself would show a very good count, yet at times VERY erratic in pulsation.
6. As to the NERVOUS SYSTEM, owing to the stress upon the sympathetic system, in the sympathetic ganglia as in the 3rd and 4th dorsal, the 2nd and 3rd cervical - these make for an irritation to the whole of the nervous systems of the body, and with the tendency for the body being in this erratic condition from relationships and activities that arise about the body at times become rather depressing to the whole of the system, adding TO the general discomfort, especially as to conditions that have existed in a minor way and manner in the ear - especially in the inner ear, where there has been the effect of a catarrhal condition that has made for congestions, and makes for roarings and disturbances in the ear at times. This accounts for some of those conditions in the repression and the circulation through the sympathetic system; the effect to the eyes at times, and THIS is a more serious condition, for there are the tendencies in the present for the separation of the iris from the nerves in the back portion that PRODUCES the vision, and it forms as an itching and an irritation to the circulation around the eyeball itself. This neglected, as we find, will bring on greater distresses. And, first, we would not resort to those measures of having too much of a LOCAL application, that would tend to make for a continued tendency towards this separation in the back portion of the vision, or the chrysalis and the nerves to the optic itself.
7. Then, as to the activities to the ORGANS of the body, as indicated, the sensory system is disturbed - in the manner that has been indicated; the erratic condition in the pulsation and in the nervous system is indicated through the heart, lungs, even at times in the digestive area itself. The conditions in the liver, spleen, pancreas, and the ELIMINATING system as related to the alimentary canal and the organs of same are erratic; just as the conditions from the NERVOUS systems are DEPRESSING to the body at times.
8. In the PRESENT, as we find, these would be the better and the correct applications for making corrections in this body, [662]:
9. First we would begin with the taking of osteopathic ADJUSTMENTS and manipulations; at least two each week. And,
662-1 Page 3
as we find, it would be the better for the body to make the special effort to go to one in sympathy with not only the general conditions but the source through which this information is given; such as Coombs or Dobbins. Make adjustments in the 3rd and 4th DORSAL specific, COORDINATING the whole of the cervical centers, especially those in the axis and those in the 3rd and 4th plexus.
10. We would also at those periods have the application of the violet ray directly to the eyeball itself; not for longer periods, however, than one and a half to two minutes, using a double eye applicator.
11. We would stimulate the eliminating system through the manipulations that will make for the emptying of the alimentary canal, thus making applications of the treatments for the liver and for the intestinal tract, or over the abdomen for the emptying of the colon; stimulating the plexus in the 7th and 8th and 9th dorsal for such.
12. Be mindful that the diet is less of those foods that are highly seasoned, or condiments. Little or no acids, especially none of those foods carrying vinegar or the like; though condiments that make for a stimulation of digestion may be used. Less and less acid.
13. And when this outline of treatment has been followed in a consistent and thorough manner for at least TWENTY-EIGHT OSTEOPATHIC treatments, then we would give further instructions.
14. Ready for questions.
15. (Q) Would it be better for me to reside in Asbury Park this winter, or go South? (A) Best that the body this winter take particular precautions about the health, and the eyes - and ears. If this may be done in Asbury Park, fine! If it may be done better in the South, well! But we would go first to one of those indicated; and if there is the desire on the part of self to go South with the son (for the body is erratic; it might as well acknowledge it!), then let one of those individuals (either Coombs or Dobbins) [Leroy Coombs, D.O., Frank P. Dobbins, D.O.] point out an individual in that locality - an osteopath - who would, and should, take care of the condition. But this may be done here, as we find, in New York.
16. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (GD's note: See letter [which was enclosed] to Osteopath
