1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [710].
2. Now, as we find, there are many conditions-physical in the body that are very good. There are others that cause a great deal of disorder or distress at times. Hence, as we find, the greater aid that may be brought will be as of warnings for this body and the necessity of there being corrections made in those directions where the disorders are arising. For the greater portions of the distress in the present, that arise from the insomnia, the stomach disorders at times, the sick headaches, are rather effects or as a sign of disturbance and are not causes but the results of disturbing factors.
3. These, then, as we find them, are the conditions-physical that disturb this body, [710] we are speaking of:
4. The BLOOD SUPPLY, there are only periods occasionally when the pulsation, the respiration, or even the pressure in the metabolism of the system are disturbed; yet these make for an indication where we may see or find that which is the basis of the disturbances through this body. For there is a slowed hepatic circulation. There would be found on various portions of the abdomen, as in the left side and lower down on the right side, areas of a cold or clammy condition existent there, showing a disturbance in the hepatic circulation.
5. We find at times, when these periods of headaches occur, there is a faster circulation and a tendency for the poor eliminations, or painful eliminations at periods, that make for an indication of there being disturbances in the organs of the pelvis.
6. In the NERVOUS SYSTEM we find the conditions that exist are more produced in the nervous system than the nervous system causing the disorders. However, as indicated, where conditions have arisen to such an extent in any portion of the body as to involve certain ganglia where pressures have
710-1 Page 2
existed, the nervous system naturally becomes involved. This again is an indication that the causes arise from the incoordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system, specifically in the 9th dorsal or the lower portion of the solar plexus - which becomes involved in producing a cramping, a taxation, and a rise of temperature even at times, through the effect produced upon the organs of the circulation that become involved through the nerve pressure.
7. The specific centers then in which it will be necessary for the consideration, when we bring about the better coordinations through the increasing or stimulation of the circulatory forces in the body, are through the 9th dorsal, 10th, 11th, 12th dorsal, and the coordinating - to be sure - with those of the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexus, and the deeper circulation throughout the upper cervicals, or THROUGHOUT the cervical area; stimulating and relaxing those congestion areas that have been produced by this continued contraction and the slowing up and the attempt of the body, through the increased circulation through those portions where there has been a subjugation through the pressures in the areas of stimulating an activity.
8. As to the ORGANS themselves of the body: As we find, brain forces are very good. With the natural condition of the circulation being as it has been indicated, there are at periods disturbances of a lesser degree in the organs of the sensory system, for there is a slowed circulation through those pressures that are naturally created in the cervical area to the face, the head; though even at times these show flushed conditions, yet at other periods it is as if all the blood in the body is drained from the head itself - or upper portion of the body.
9. The soft tissues in the face, as in the antrum, as in those portions about the ear, as in those portions in the nasal cavity and the throat, through the adenoid area and the thyroid and the glands of the throat, become involved at times; though this is a very much lesser disturbance than those in other portions, as we will see. This is rather as the indications of the conditions.
10. Bronchi, throat, larynx, lungs are very good, save through those periods when the superacidity produces a burning at times - or a tending of the forming of gas in the stomach and duodenum area.
11. Heart, as indicated, is near normal.
12. Digestive system and the stomach itself proper shows regurgitation in the lower portion; for at times while the body may enjoy the food - or the appetite, afterwards there occurs at periods the fullness to the system and the
710-1 Page 3
slowness of digestion, making for very uncomfortable conditions - not always. Hence there is the tendency for a very slow peristaltic movement at times through the intestinal tract.
13. The digestive system becomes disturbed, and these are through those reflex conditions from adhesions that - through the pelvic organs and through the position of the organs of the pelvis - weigh upon the nerve forces in such ways and manners as to produce these reflexes in the system itself. These make also for those conditions where the activities in same are those that bring distress, rather than the natural influences that should come with conditions of such natures with the body itself in the present.
14. Heaviness in the feet, dizzy spells that occur at times, all are of these conditions.
15. Then, in meeting the needs of the conditions as we find them with this body, [710] we are speaking of:
16. First, we would find that when there are those periods of distress, or the headaches, those periods of depression and the tendency for the filling of the stomach itself, or slowing up of digestion, relief may be brought by applying the hot salt packs over the 9th dorsal and the lumbar area (coarse heavy salt, heated in bags and applied directly to the body). But it would be better, before the salt packs are applied, to massage into the body - each time before the packs are placed on the body - a combination of properties prepared in this manner:
17. To Mutton Suet that has been dissolved add an equal quantity (by measurement) of Spirits of Camphor and Spirits of Turpentine. Let this congeal, or partially - as it will. Then only massage along the portion or area indicated (that is, in the lower dorsal, the upper portion of the sacral and up as far as the 9th and 8th dorsal), and then apply the heavy salt packs that are heated. Apply these whenever the pains are severe in the back; that is, across that portion low down and up to the middle portion of the back, which comes almost - you see - to the lower portion of the shoulder blades downward. Also apply these at those periods when there is the relief from the drosses in the system's activities. These will relax the body.
18. Internally we would take at periods the AL-CAROID, AFTER the meals - each meal; but take it for periods of three to four days, then cut it to one time during the day, then reduce it to none; and then in a week to ten days repeat the same, see
19. We would begin almost immediately with the osteopathic manipulations and adjustments. There should be at least two
710-1 Page 4
treatments of a general nature over the system to ONE of CORRECTIVE MOVEMENTS of the segments of the cerebrospinal system, and these should be corrected even from the 2nd and 3rd cervical on to the end of the spine (at different times, not all at once), but making special connections or corrections in the 9th, 10th and 11th dorsal areas, coordinating the rest of these with those specific movements made there. We would take the osteopathic adjustments and treatments for periods of three weeks at a time, twice a week. Then have a rest period of ten days to two weeks. Then take them twice a week for another two weeks; then once a week for another two weeks. Then another rest period of a month to six weeks; and then repeat. And we will find conditions on the improve.
20. Take all these treatments suggested along together, and we will bring a normal condition and start the flows from the system, reducing the acidity in the system, removing the pressure that causes the headaches, removing those conditions that unless corrected will produce first in the circulation then in the organs themselves accumulations that would be very detrimental to the better physical forces of the body.
21. As to the diets, we would keep those foods that are the more alkalin; that is, do not take red meats - such as roast beef or heavy roasts that carry a great deal of grease and fats. No fried meats. Beware of fried potatoes. Beware of ANY fried vegetables or cakes with syrup or any large quantities of the sweetmeats or very rich foods where too much of the nuts of certain natures are used; though nuts such as almonds, peanuts, English walnuts, Brazilian nuts and filberts are very good. NOT black walnuts nor pecans nor of such natures. Not cocoanuts nor bananas nor apples (unless the apples are cooked). But oranges, grapefruit, limes, lemons all may be taken, provided they are not taken close with any food that carries GLUTEN - which would tend to change these in their activity with the gastric flows of the digestive areas. Not too great amount of starches. Preferably the whole wheat or rye bread. In the meats, preferably mutton, fowl, fish occasionally - provided same is not fried; broiled, roasted or the like is very good. Of course, do not diet self so that it becomes rote, or the necessity of refusing - or adhering in this or that direction; but we would keep a well-balance.
22. Ready for questions.
23. (Q) Why is it impossible for me to sleep? (A) As we relieve the pressures and make for the better coordination between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nerve
710-1 Page 5
systems, and make for less of the toxic forces in the system that disturb the body, the normal thing is for the body to rest, see? and these relaxations will bring rest to the body.
24. (Q) Any further advice for the body's better welfare? (A) These, as we find, if they will be taken in the present, will not only relieve those conditions - as the indications of the deeper disturbances, but prevent greater disturbances later on.
25. We are through for the present. [See 710-1, Par. R1.] Copy to Self " " Ass'n file
