1. EC: Yes, we have the body; this we have had before. As we find, there are decided changes for the better in the physical functioning of this body. We find that there are disorders as related to the cold and congestion. If there will be kept a more alkalin condition in the body, the better will be the general conditions and welfare. With the cold and congestion in the present, almost an entire liquid diet would be the better - and the greater portion of it orange juice and lemon juice combined, three parts of the orange juice to one part of the lemon. Grapefruit juice, pineapple juice (the canned pineapple is well); and the vegetable juices and some broths, with a strengthening in the beef juices (without the meat). Also charlotte russe (not in such great quantities), arrowroot, gelatin, these are well for the body, making for the sweets sufficient and keeping the strength and vitality without the use of cane sugar, and ridding the system of the cold.

2. The attack of cold upon a body in this condition is more harmful than would be to many another. For while under the stress of those conditions that have brought about the detrimental reactions as are indicated from the paresis and weakening of the limbs and lower portion of the body and the spinal column itself, when there is being created the changing through the circulation by the application of the rubs as well as the vibrations themselves from the electrical applications used, there is the tendency to create those fluids and make for the hormones and changes in the blood supply where new tissue formed, such as those influences that produce stamina in the muscles and tendons as well as the building of the nerve energies and cold attacks such (as indicated by the manner in which there was the attempt of the mucous membrane to strangulate same), we have running of the nasal passages, choking in the throat

738-2 Page 2

and irritations or congestions in some portions of the throat, the tendency for the system to throw off phlegm and accumulations of such natures, these are indications of how the attack of certain activities - or that known as the common cold germ - creates or makes for a body very detrimental conditions.

3. We find that for this particular body, for a cold, we would use an expectorant prepared in this manner - only used when there is cold, to be sure; it would be good for many another but for this body specifically:

4. To 2 ounces Essence of Wild Cherry as the carrier, add: Compound Simple Syrup..............1/2 ounce, Strained Honey.....................1/2 ounce, (Both the honey AND syrup) Grated Alum..........................5 grains, Syrup of Rhubarb...................1/4 ounce, Syrup of Horehound.................1/4 ounce, Cascara Sagrada......................1 grain, Glycerine...........................20 minims, Chloroform...........................5 minims. Shake this thoroughly together each time before the dose is taken, which would be half a teaspoonful - sufficient for this body; or for an adult or one stronger of body a teaspoonful, PROVIDED there are no heart affections. Don't use this when there are heart affections! This, as we find, would be the most helpful.

5. We would keep those rubs that have been indicated for this body, [738] we are speaking of.

6. We would keep up the battery applications. We will find that there may be the better contact made with the body if a pad of cotton is placed ABOVE the plate or anode and the tape or the cord attaching same going over top of this will tend to hold it more securely and more in contact with the body. Keep all connections tight. Be sure that we polish off the plates each time it is used.

7. As the body is desirous of using the limbs, let this be done if possible in water first. Then, as we find, the strength comes. Then support the body in its first activity, until it has begun to gain the use of the limbs and the strength comes with the body. There is to be not so much a brace, but a strengthening with the help from someone so that there isn't the loss of confidence in self as the exercises are begun, you see.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) Should he be allowed to slide off his chair and

738-2 Page 3

stand on his feet? (A) Provided someone is standing by and holding him. Let the braces as we begin be rather the wrapping, or like gauze, or better still - of course - is the heavy webbing support, not that which makes for keeping on all the time - only when exercising, you see; for we WANT the circulation to pass through!

10. (Q) How can colds be prevented? (A) KEEP more alkalinity in the system from the diet, as indicated.

11. (Q) What should be done for the fever? (A) This arises from the very description that has been given, as to how the attack of the cold upon the circulation that is being stimulated creates temperature. It may be reduced by the use of the fluids, or the non-acid fluids in the food; and by bathing the feet in hot mustard water and rubbing with rub alcohol along the spine - but rub away from the head when rubbing with this.

12. (Q) How often may the prescription for the cough be given? (A) Two or three times each day should be sufficient.

13. (Q) Any further advice? (A) If we will follow these, as we find, we will bring the better conditions for this body, [738]. We are through with this reading. (See list [which was enclosed] of ALKALIN-REACTING FOODS, of which his diet should principally consist; also directions [which were enclosed] for making pure beef juice. Take the reading to Dr. Leroy Coombs, 454 Ft. Washington Ave., New York City, and get him to fill the prescription for you. He was at Mr. Hirn's that afternoon and heard [738]'s first reading. GD.)
