Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Ck. Life on Xercia, a Grecian in the Palestine land during the time of the Master)
1. EC: Yes, we have the records here of the entity known in the present as [816], also those experiences of the entity as Xercia (pronounced Irksha). We find these are the records here:
2. The entity, according to time, entered the earthly experience one and one-half years B.C. Or the time of the entity's coming to the Palestine land as an ambassador (as would be termed in the present) was when the entity was thirty-four years of age.
3. The entrance, we find, was near that city (in the Grecian land) known as Macedonia. The entity was fair of hair, blue of eyes, ruddy of complexion. And in height at the period was (at the time of being appointed, or when going as the emissary) five feet eleven and three-quarter inches, as would be measured in the measurements of this land, or in doneur (?) and xeres (?) we would have six or seven. The weight then was one fifty-six. (These, of course, are interpreted to the language of the present experience, as we find them.)
4. As to the activities during the early portion of the years, we find:
5. The entity entered in what would now be called the spring months, or the first of the year; what would be interpreted into the meaning of the present as March 19th. This was then two thousand three thirty from the deliverance in the land, or in the present two years seven months and two days B.C., before the birth of the Master then.
6. The entity was strong of body, alert of mind, and trained rather in the political way - as would be interpreted in the present. For the entity grew up under the trainings of one Demeutri, who was what would be termed today the master or teacher or companion. The entity was among those, of
816-4 Page 2
course, of the wealthier from those portions of the land; or among those that were well-livers of the day, living in that which was carved as the home and builded in an outer portion of the city - but would be called a house, in which the entity lived in the earlier portions of the experience.
7. It was trained in much by the teachers of the day, being well-versed; and with Demeutri [Demetrius?] and the associations the entity became among those that argued much of those teachings that had been given by the Grecians, and especially those of the periods just previous to the entity's entrance into the material plane.
8. In the thirty-fourth year of the entity's sojourn, then (and that which makes for the greater experience or the greater urges in the experience of the entity in the present), we find the entity was sent as an emissary or ambassador to the Palestine land, to make for the interchange of the commercial changes that came into Jerusalem and into the countries near to the seaports thereabout, as in Bethsaida and Joppa and the lands along the Great Sea.
9. The entity then, of course, was rather in sympathy with those in power - or the Roman rule at the time, for there was then the closer associations with the Caesars and the rulers by Demeutri or those in charge in the Grecian land of the entity's nativity.
10. Then the entity was wedded to the present wife [811], before coming to the land; and came into the Palestine land in what would be termed in the present the first years of the wedded life in that association. Not that the Grecians failed to have more than the one wife, but in that particular set or sect the entity - during those periods of the sojourns in the Grecian land and during the first years in the Palestine land - adhered to those tenets of monogamy instead of polygamy. And these made for the greater satisfactory activities to the entity, in those relationships as established among not only the Jewish faith but the Egyptian associations and also the Roman associations - of course.
11. During the experience when the entity came into contact with the teachings of the Master, these brought first the scorn; yet when the entity heard the reasonings - as the Master did with the young ruler, and later in the temple - there came a conviction to Xercia. And the news of this was carried to the mate, which - during that time and period - was ruled rather by command (and it's too much so in the present!).
12. So the entity came to know the associates, or what would
816-4 Page 3
be termed in the present the disciples that were close to the Master; ESPECIALLY with John, and Luke of Cyrenia [2824] - who was the young physician that never finished and never practiced, yet was known as the physician. For he, too, with Xercia was of the same land, being close to the brother-in-law of Pilate, and came to know much of those things that went on from those activities.
13. The entity was able to play both politics and society, as well as to engage in its own activities in what would be termed the artistic expression (he was a good drinker also during the experience!).
14. In those periods when the trial and the crucifixion came about, these brought those periods of the greater conviction by the entity, or of the entity, into those activities.
15. The entity then withdrew to what is now Crete, or the isle in the sea. There began there the exchange through the navigations, or the boats that touched Alexandria, Joppa, the northern coast of Africa, into portions of now Turkey. The entity then became active in that portion of the commercial activities. But with those periods of the spreading of the tenets of the teacher, especially when Paul touched Cyrenius (and to Crete), the entity became as an emissary or a missionary aiding in those activities throughout the sojourn in Crete - as Xercia. There in the sixty-fourth year of the sojourn in the earth, through the bringing in of the fevers with the commerce, the entity passed on.
16. Ready for questions.
17. (Q) Did the entity's wife live longer than the entity? (A) Ten years longer.
18. (Q) Were there any children? (A) Not by this wife; but when the entity entered into Crete and had another wife, there was! [GD's note: No children this time, but his wife, [811], had a son by a former marriage.]
19. (Q) Was the entity religious? (A) Religious from more than one angle. The entity would be termed today as one that was moral and one that professed religion, but didn't work at it very hard; yet was contributing to the activities of that which he felt to be the NECESSARY things for the development in the spiritual light.
20. (Q) Was the entity well educated? (A) WELL educated.
21. (Q) What character of food was eaten by the entity in that experience? (A) Grains. Grain and fruits. Little of meats. For it
816-4 Page 4
was a portion not only of the Grecian but the natural development of those of the period.
22. (Q) In the present experience, 1935, are there any particular subjects which the entity could study with benefit? (A) MOST of all those that pertain to the teachings of Him that the entity gained, would be the better. As for the commercial life, those that pertain to the exchange or interchange not only of states but of other countries are of particular interest. And to the entity in the present those pertaining to Latin America would be the greater evaluation to the entity.
23. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Study to show thyself approved, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth, and keeping SELF unspotted from the world. Not in thine own sight only, but remembering there must be the consideration for the other also.
