Time of Reading 4:20 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [816].

2. As we find, the body shows a great deal of improvement in the general manner from that as we have had here before.

3. Having completed the first periods of the treatments, as we find, we would have a rest from both the appliance and the manipulations for a week or ten days. Then we would take these again but less often; that is, once a week, you see, for a period of two, three, four weeks. And we should find, with the proper precautions regarding the diet, the general activity, and keeping in the open and the correct exercise, the body should keep in a near balanced position.

4. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Have the osteopathic manipulations been given correctly? (by Dr. Swope [Chester D. Swope, D.O.]) [Felix D. Swope, D.O., nephew of former.] (A) Very good.

6. (Q) Is the lumbar portion of the spine all right? (A) It's very good in the present. It gives some little trouble at times, because there's a heaviness there; but rest a period and let the reactions set in, and then when the corrections or applications are made again they will be much better.

7. (Q) Is the right hip too far forward or otherwise out of place? (A) No.

8. (Q) Viewed in the mirror, the spine appears to have a very slight curvature. Is this apparent curve injurious? (A) It has no curve!

9. (Q) After taking about four weeks the compound recommended for internal use, while apparently very beneficial, it seemed at times to make the body rather excitable mentally and ill tempered, and the use of the compound was partially omitted, and at present it is omitted at breakfast. Should the compound produce these effects?

816-5 Page 2

(A) The compound doesn't produce the effects. It is the excess of the use of same that works on those activities. Leave this off for the time, you see. Then when it is to begun again, after ten days to two weeks, it would be in much less or smaller proportions. [8/28/35 See 816-6, Par 18-A indicating why he has a let-down feeling when he stops taking the medicine.]

10. (Q) What should be the proper proportion, then? (A) About once each day.

11. (Q) Is the blood pressure too low or about right? (A) One forty-nine. It's about right.

12. (Q) Can coffee and tea be used by this body without harmful effects? (A) No one can use them without AFFECTING the body. As to whether they are harmful or not depends upon the extent to which they are used. Use one or the other; don't use them both. Tea is more harmful than coffee. Coffee is a food if it is taken without cream or sugar, and especially without cream; and if taken without the caffeine - as Kaffa Hag, or the like - it's really a food for the body.

13. (Q) Does the body get sufficient sleep? (A) When it tries to!

14. (Q) Are the teeth in good shape? (A) Very good.

15. (Q) Would the general health be improved if the weight of the body were reduced? (A) The health is very good in the present. If it desires to be more athletic in appearance, then it may reduce its weight if it so desires. This has but little to do with the general condition in the present, if the proper exercises are taken to keep the body near normal.

16. (Q) What exercise? (A) Walk more!

17. (Q) In approximately five weeks from today the body will probably be required to make an extended talk before a group of men. Is there any internal compound or other agency which could be used that would help to steady the heart action during that talk? (A) No. Let it be from within the self and the mental forces of self. Let the assurance be not in self but in the purpose for which that as being said to the group is to have UPON the general affairs not only of that group but those whom the group are to influence. Lose the self in that you are saying and doing for others. Your heart won't trouble you! Neither will your gizzard!

18. We are through with this reading.
