Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes. (Reading a book) We have the body, [830]; this we have had before.
2. As we find, there have been begun those administrations which if kept near to the outline as given - and those precautions that have been indicated for the body - should bring about a much nearer normal condition, and through the changes make or produce a different outlook for the body-physical and mental.
3. The corrections as we find have been very good. We would continue to increase the activities in the lower lumbar, the sacral, and RAISE more the coccyx end of the spine; extending the manipulations and massages down the limbs - and INCLUDE the feet and ankle movements, that the repressions that have been maintained may not only be relieve, but keeping the circulation in such an activity as to renew and revivify those portions that have to a great measure been dormant for some time.
4. The reactions of these manipulations and those adherences to activities physically and mentally to keep a normal balance do not bring the changes overnight, but should be recognized as a growth. And there should not be those suggestions either mentally or by word of mouth, or by act - with the developments of the mental attitudes of the body - as to cause confusion with the awakening of the abilities of the body in those varied directions as naturally arise by the awakening of the vital forces throughout the body.
5. Realize, each atomic force of the body - whether expressed in the movement of the corpuscles through the system or the flexing of muscular forces as related to the nerve system and the natural reactions from environmental forces - has its part in keeping of a balance in the physical and mental forces of the body.
6. Naturally there must be conditions mental and physical within the experience of self to produce strength of
830-4 Page 2
character, resistance in physical forces, and an outlet for the mental and physical emotions of the body.
7. Hence some specific exercises; not as altogether play, neither altogether labor or work - as the body in its mental changes and physical reactions shows the developments. Neither should there be the repression by suggestion, neither should all conditions be made too easy by supplying influences; but that there may be a seeking.
8. For, as has been given, the body-mental, the body-physical, is an expression of the mental and spiritual reactions in a physical body. And these need resistances, these need training, these need direction; but give the body more reasons than just "Don't do this," just "Don't do that," or just "Don't do the other." The reasons! For the body reasons, and is an entity - and, given opportunities, may make for an expression that will bring many, many helpful, hopeful experiences to others.
9. And the expression of every soul in its relationships to others is the concept of that entity's, that soul's relationship to its Creator.
10. Hence these should be a part of the entity's development, its SPIRITUAL life, its SPIRITUAL awakening! Not by merely precept but by example AND by precept!
11. Ready for questions.
12. (Q) Are the electrical treatments being given correctly by Dr. Bolkardt, [M. Bolkhardt, N.D.], and with proper strength? (A) These as we find are very good and are in keeping with the needs of the conditions. As has been indicated, greater stress shall be put upon the corrections in the coccyx, the 4th lumbar and the lower limbs and feet area.
13. (Q) Is the 4th lumbar vertebrae out of alignment or does it merely lack sufficient cushioning? (A) Merely lacks sufficient cushioning in the present, and this may be gained the better by relieving the strain upon same through the feet and through the coccyx muscular relaxation.
14. (Q) What caused the impingements at the 4th lumbar and coccyx - was it an accident? (A) An accident in the early youth.
15. (Q) Can the impingement in the lumbar region be removed by taking bending and stretching exercises each day, instead of osteopathic treatments? (A) The condition in the lumbar might be relieved AFTER the pressures have been removed, without osteopathic treatment, but those in the coccyx area and those in the ankle, feet and limb area would NOT be. Consequently, to leave off the one without carrying on the other would be only half doing a
830-4 Page 3
job that needs to be well done.
16. (Q) What causes the eruptions on the skin, and can they be prevented by special diet or otherwise? (A) These are from poor eliminations and are a part of the system's attempt to adjust itself to changes that naturally come about. The use of Eno Salts occasionally, before breakfast of a morning, will assist in aiding the system to create a greater flow in the lymph and emunctory circulation as to aid in the adjustments in the circulation forces. This done, we would find it would be helpful.
17. (Q) What dosage of Eno Salts? (A) A teaspoonful in a glass of water.
18. (Q) How many meals should this body eat daily, and how many hours should elapse between the meals? (A) This would bring a natural discussion to many. A bodily functioning and a bodily diet should be for the building up of the body and not as routine for daily experience or daily existence. Dependent upon the activities of the body as to how much time should elapse, but it is very well that two or three meals be taken each day. If the activities and the environs are such that there is the addition of others, or the lack of the opportunities or the need of expression for these, then these would be altered to meet the natural changes. NO one should become a slave to diet OR to routine of meals, but that as is necessary to keep an equal balance in the system. The habit of munching or eating between meals is NOT very for good for ANY, save where there is a great deficiency in the resistances in the body. For THIS body, to occasionally have milk or malted milks and the like between meals is NOT harmful; but munching on sweets, cakes or the like between meals is NOT good.
19. (Q) Is cigarette smoking injurious to health and growth of this body? (A) In moderation not injurious. In excess, very injurious. Cigarette smoking before breakfast or after twelve o'clock at night is injurious.
20. (Q) Are the eyes in good condition? (A) As manipulations and changes are kept, and the nominal amount of exercise, these as we find should improve.
830-4 Page 4
21. (Q) Are the eyeglasses which the body wears properly adjusted? (A) This will depend upon the exercises and the character of work as is attempted by the body, and the amount of light or radiation as is in the environ of the body during such activities. Nominally these are very good. Under stress of too strong a light or too little a light, not so well balanced.
22. (Q) Is it advisable for this body to take eye exercises or eye massage? (A) Not especially. Head and neck exercises by the body night and morning would stimulate, naturally.
23. (Q) Can anything be done to promote restful sleep at night? (A) Only to produce a perfect or better coordination through the physical, the mental and the material forces of the body.
24. (Q) How many hours sleep is needed daily? (A) For this body, in its change and development, eight to eight and a half hours.
25. (Q) Does the body walk in its sleep? (A) At times tends to be restless, but not an unconscious walking.
26. (Q) Any suggestions? (A) As has been indicated, produce as far as possible nominalcy in the reflexes, in the activity, in the whole of the body as has been indicated. And DO NOT - not merely refrain from antagonism, but do not make for drum - drum - drum - drum - DRUM to the body at ANY time, by overanxiety, by a continual drumming for this or that reaction; but give the opportunity for expression! and we will find changes for the better. For the duties, the obligations, the expressions of sympathy, the expressions of the gratitude - yes, very well; but not as humdrum or continuing to remind him, "You should do this," "You should do that," "You shouldn't do the other." Give the rules, the regulations, and expect them, but act that way yourself - as you would be done by! Consider same!
