Time of Reading 5:45 to 6:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [837], present in this room.
2. Now, as we find, while in many respects the physical forces of the body are very good, there are those tendencies and inclinations in the physical functioning of the body that with the correction made and the better balance created in the general physical activity we would find a much nearer normal body for the physical and mental functioning, and the outlook and those activities in the body much more in keeping with the better physical reactions.
3. The disturbances, as we find, are as inclinations - and their effect upon the assimilating and eliminating systems.
4. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [837] we are speaking of, present in this room:
5. We find the BLOOD SUPPLY somewhat low in the red blood supply. Not that there are not times when this increasing makes for nearer normalcy, but there are those tendencies for this to fall below normal; and with same naturally comes those weaknesses and tendencies for the body and bodily functionings to become disturbed through this weakening in the general vitality of the body - as may be indicated by those periods when in arms and in limbs we find the tired, heavy feelings; especially when there has been a little unusual exercise. At other times we find it occurring when the body first arises. And this makes for the conditions that produce these.
6. As to the NERVE FORCES of the body, these are very good in most ways and manners. When there are those tendencies or tired conditions, we find these make for taxations and little irritations to the body. But these make for also those inclinations that arise from segmentations that exist in the secondary bronchial reaction, where there has existed and does exist the tendency for an irritation to the bronchial tubes. And this is an engorgement there, that has
837-1 Page 2
arisen from the nerves' reflex activity there for some time. These, as we find, while they are a portion of the general growth in the system for some periods of years, may be aided materially by a general rehabilitating of the nerve and blood and muscular forces and the whole of the vitality - or the elan vitale, which is as the activity to produce in the bodily functions a more constructive reaction throughout the functionings of the organs of the system, you see. While, of course, there has been reached those periods in the general building up where we may only stimulate certain glands' reactions that may revivify and make for the creating of elements and forces as to make the body much younger in its activity, not in growth in some directions - to be sure.
7. As to the functioning of the ORGANS themselves:
8. Brain forces are very good.
9. There have been those reactions from cold or from congestion that have built blocks along the sympathetic system, as it were, as related to the organs of the sensory forces, the responses to the impulse - however - are not as fast as they have been; not as quick of perception; not a lack of mentality, but lack rather of the ability for the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal and the responses to be as quick as they were before. These incoordinations occurred in the soft tissue of the throat, the nasal passages, the antrum and the sinus, and even the soft tissue about the ear. In these portions at times we have had heaviness, or slowed circulation. Hence we have these characters of conditions that occur in the body.
10. In the throat and bronchi and lungs and larynx, as indicated, there has been a subluxation in the secondary cardiac plexus area or the 3rd and 4th dorsal centers, where these pressures have produced an engorgement to those areas in the bronchi or the tube of same where it tends to make for the activity of the respiratory system to become congested; and produces a flow of the circulation of the lymph through these portions, as to throw off phlegm at times. This has been aided and abetted, of course, by those activities of cold and congestion to the sympathetic forces there. But no lung disorder. No activity there that would indicate a breaking down of cellular forces. Rather an accumulation; though these must be kept in a more healthy condition or we may eventually have the giving away or the creating of forces there as to cause some disturbance in the throat and to the organs of the throat itself, in the larynx and in those portions of same in those areas about the thyroid.
11. In the heart's action itself, as indicated from the
837-1 Page 3
character of the circulation and of the nerve forces, this at times makes for a slowing. Not of the pulsation but of the manner in which the pulsation carries to the extremities. Hence we have a slowing up of the circulation and not an organic or not even a functional disorder save as sympathetic to the repletions in the system as will be necessary for the creating of a better and stronger blood supply in the body.
12. As to the digestive system, here we have had at times (not in the present so much) disorders. These arise from rather a catarrhal effect or the effect of those things from the bronchi and larynx that have at times made for the accumulation of forces in the system through those activities of the body that have caused distress and reflexes in the system itself. These have produced, then, a type of indigestion or reaction to the system that becomes disturbing to the body at times.
13. In the activity of the spleen, the pancreas, the liver, here we find again the necessity of stimulating an activity so that the manner in which the excretory system and eliminations of the body-functionings are carried on may be coordinated in creating a new or a revitalized blood supply of the body. These are only sympathetic, as yet. They become functional at times and are contributed to by the general depletion of the vitality of the body itself.
14. In bringing, then, the better physical forces of this body, [837] we are speaking of, present in this room:
15. We would prepare rather a tonic. While this may have many combinations, these will make for the creating of forces in their activity in the various portions of the system as to aid in creating a better balance to the whole of the body itself. It would be prepared in this manner, with the ingredients added in the order named (and preferably all of these DRIED):
16. To 1 gallon of rain or distilled water, we would add: Wild Cherry Bark................1 ounce, Sarsaparilla Root...............1 ounce, Yellow Dock Root..............1/2 ounce, Burdock Root..................1/2 ounce, Prickly Ash Bark..............1/2 ounce, Buchu Leaves....................1 dram, Mandrake Root...................2 grains. Reduce this by slow boiling to one-half the quantity, or to a FUSION - you see, making then, to be sure, one-half gallon. Strain while it is still warm. Then add to this 4
837-1 Page 4
ounces of pure grain alcohol (195% proof), with 2 drams of Balsam of Tolu cut in same. Shake the solution together before the dosage is taken. And we would take a teaspoonful, or NEARLY a teaspoonful - not a whole to running over or waste - four times each day; taking it upon arising before the meal of morning, take it before the meal in the middle of the day, take it before the meal in the evening, and just before retiring. Drink a glass of water after each dose, a full glass of water.
17. We would be mindful that the diet is rather inclined towards the alkalin-reacting foods. Citrus fruit juices; but do not take cereals at the same meal with citrus fruits. This has been done. Beware of white bread. Beware of potatoes, white potatoes - except the jackets or peelings of same, these may be eaten with that close to the rind, either baked or boiled. Beware of raw apples unless used as a cleanser. Beware of bananas. Beware of too many strawberries unless they are those grown where their reaction is ironic rather than potassium. When meats are taken, let it rather be of fish - baked or broiled; mutton - not too much of the fat; fowl or wild game. No fried foods at any time. Eat sufficient. A well-balanced alkalin-reacting diet.
18. After the compound has been begun (of the properties indicated), we would at least every week have a high enema to eliminate or evacuate the colon; also that would stimulate those activities that would be increased by the use of those properties to, as it were, WASH the kidneys.
19. For the congestion in throat and bronchi, the nasal passages, we would use a solution for cleansing or purifying the tissue that becomes involved - prepared in this manner:
20. To 4 ounces of pure grain (only grain) alcohol, in preferably a 6 ounce container with a glass stopper, we would add: (Or still more preferable, use a cork that has 2 vents in it. Only use this, though, when shaken together, to be inhaled into the throat and into the nasal passages. Neither of course, enter the solution, you see, but one so it may be inhaled into the nasal passages or into the throat when it is shaken together. At other times keep this glass corked.) Oil of Eucalyptus..............30 minims, Creosote (Purified).............5 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp...........5 minims, Tincture of Benzoin............10 minims, Canadian Balsam.................5 minims, Tolu in solution...............20 minims.

Keep this where the evaporation may be going on, or where it is warm, you see. Inhale deep into the lungs, or through the bronchi for the lungs, into the nasal passages, and let it act as an antiseptic. Do not use in a spray or take any as a drink; but as an inhalant of the fumes of same.
21. Do this, and we will bring a much nearer normal condition of this body, [837].
22. Ready for questions.
23. (Q) Should any treatment be given for the pressure in the cerebrospinal system? (A) Only, as we find, an exercise that may be taken morning and evening. Raise the arms three to four times above the head; circling the arms as from swinging the body from the waist up, and the head and neck exercise. Circle the head to the right three times, to the left three times, forward three times, to the back three times, to the side - each way - three times. This should be the better for this body. Follow these suggestions as given; being consistent and persistent. Do not have too many periods of skipping the tonic, that will tone the whole system. For we will find more strength, more vitality, the relieving of pressures on organs in the system, better eliminations through the alimentary canal, better or more normal eliminations through the kidneys themselves; for all of these properties act upon the organs of the system and are purifiers to the body.
24. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (GD's notes at time of reading: See letter [which was enclosed] with directions to DRUGGIST for preparing tonic and inhalent. See Alkalin-Reacting Diet List [which was enclosed], of which your principal diet should consist - with the variations mentioned in reading. If everything is not understood, let us know. GD.)
