1. EC: Yes.
2. Now, as we find, while conditions have been changed in the general physical forces of the body, there are still the indications - in the activative forces of the circulation - of the lack of poisons being eliminated; which made it necessary for the operative forces. Also the indications of same are shown in the superficial circulation, as in the conditions that arise from the heaviness and the tendencies at times for the disturbance in the knee. Also, unless there are measures or precautions taken, disturbances may arise with the eyes, with the throat.
3. These then are still unbalanced conditions. Hence the necessity for the manipulative forces to be taken (osteopathic), so that localization of these poisons may be prevented.
4. It will be necessary, too, that the baths and rubdowns be taken, as well as some local application be used; as we would find best in a massage or rub for those parts of the body where the irritation or the itching occurs, as in those portions about the activity of the lymph ducts where they come close to the cuticle or the outer portions of the body - the emunctory and lymph in their glands over the body. For such massage or rub we would use a combination that is an acetanilide in its base; such as the Cuticura Salve Ointment or the like; any of these preparations that are basically acetanilide in their reaction.
5. Also we find it would be most helpful that there be those precautions mostly about toxic forces as produced by the taking of alcohol for the system. Reduce the quantity of same, so as to make for the better eliminations. For this unbalancing in the digestive forces and in the salts of the body is that which keeps the irritations and causes a creating of those conditions that allow the return of the first causes through the system itself. It creates a likely condition that becomes as a manner through which these may

become more active in the system, see?
6. If these precautions are kept, then, we will find better conditions - and the body will keep more physically fit.
7. Do not eat any fried foods. Do not have great quantities of starches and sweets at the same meal. These create balances that are bad. Do not have rare meats. Rather let the meats be fish, fowl or lamb, than others. No great amount of condiments. All of these tend to produce irritations to the circulatory forces that are already carrying - in a manner - a humor in same.
8. Ready for questions.
9. (Q) What should be done for sneezing spells? (A) If there are the correct adjustments in the upper dorsal and through the cervical area, these will be relieved. This is a flow as we have just illustrated, as to how the lymph makes for irritation to the mucous membranes in the system, see? These become rather hard on the body, but if there are the adjustments made in the upper dorsal and through the cervical, osteopathically, these irritations will subside. As an antiseptic we would use the inhalations from a preparation compounded in this manner: To 4 ounces of Pure Grain Alcohol in a 6 once glass corked container, add - in the order named: Eucalyptol..........................20 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp................5 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin........10 minims, Oil of Pine Needles..................5 minims, Tolu in solution....................30 minims. Shake together and inhale the fumes through the nostril and the mouth. Keep well corked. This will allay the irritation and prevent infectious forces, as it is an antiseptic that will delve into the mucous membranes. Do these.
10. (Q) What effect has the removal of tonsils had in general on the system? (A) It prevents a cesspool of poisons, as it were, accumulating there; but the causes that made for these poisons in the first need yet to be eliminated from the system - as we have indicated. The removal is well, provided the precautions are taken and we do not have an irritation in the throat or infectious forces arising from
849-14 Page 3
too great amount of poisons not being eliminated and being carried to those portions where irritation has been. Keep out of the night air. Keep away from too much of strong drink.
11. (Q) What should treatment of knee be from now on? (A) This should be included in the regular treatment as we have indicated. The baths, the manipulative forces. When the osteopathic applications are made, let these extend to the FEET, as well as to the limbs and to the trunk portion of the body from which impulses arise for the movement along the limbs.
