Time of Reading 11:35 to 11:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [849]; this we have had before.

2. As we find, there are - in a manner - some improvements in the general condition. These may be more specifically indicated in the manner as to how the poisons in the movements about the body have varied as to the pressures produced upon the nervous system; as well as in the manner that the activities of the assimilating system show improvement.

3. There is not as much of that internal inertia, or the inclination for nausea after attempting to eat.

4. While we find pressures, as has been indicated, showing activities in the cerebrospinal system, along those portions of the back, in the knee, these show that there is YET the lack of proper coordination in the eliminating systems; that is, the perspiratory and respiratory system does not throw off that which is its portion for elimination.

5. There is not sufficient coordination for the alimentary canal and the respiratory system, and the kidneys and the hepatic circulation, to care for the whole condition.

6. That the applications of the mechanical (or osteopathic) adjustments have aided, when given in the manners indicated, would indicate that this character of treatment is still necessary for the more permanent as well as for the quicker relief to the body.

7. We would find, then, this - as indicated for the body in the present:

8. First we would have about twenty to twenty-five to thirty minutes of a FUME BATH; this preferably with Tincture of Iodine - a tablespoonful to a pint of the water, and this allowed to heat the body by the steam settling over same. Not heating the body or raising the internal heat, but stimulating the superficial circulation by the steam from the vapor cup carrying these properties. Have a thorough

rubdown afterwards. Such a Fume Bath would be taken every day until two or three are taken, and then once or twice a week would be found to be most beneficial.

9. Take the first Fume Bath as soon as practical. This may be done in the home, to be sure, though the massage after same may not be as thorough; but the Berg's Cabinet Gown would be preferable for the body. [Patent Applied for by Wm. M. Berg, Ph.T.]

10. These we would do.

11. It would be well that the body take a colonic irrigation; this preferably with a saline-soda solution. Not merely an enema but a colonic irrigation. This is to prevent accumulations and reabsorptions by the system - with the inactivity of same - of poisons that affect the superficial or capillary circulation; and these necessarily make for pressures upon the sympathetic or vegetative nerve system.

12. One such Colonic should be sufficient in the present, though this may be necessary to repeat in a week or ten days. The saline-soda solution for the colonic would be in the proportions of a heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of baking soda to each quart of water; thoroughly dissolved. The temperature of the water should be body-temperature, not above, not below.

13. In the last or the rinse water we would use Glyco-Thymoline, a tablespoonful to half a gallon of water.

14. We would continue with the osteopathic manipulations and adjustments, including those for the lower limb, the upper portion of the body through the cervical, specifically through the lower and central dorsal system.

15. And as we find, with the precautions, we should in a few days eliminate this from the system.

16. In the matter of the diet, keep those foods that are liquid, semi-liquid, but STRENGTHENING; as plenty of the citrus fruit juices, of course - these mixed or combined are preferable for the body in the present to any ONE of same. Meats - rather the juices of same, with the vegetables - these juices and those vegetables prepared in their OWN juices.

17. These are the manners as we find for treating the body, [849], in the present.

18. (Q) Would it be advisable for the body to leave his home to take the Berg Baths? (A) If they cannot be obtained otherwise, though the Berg Bath may be obtained and taken in the home.

19. (Q) What specific osteopathic treatments are needed now for the recovery of the body?

849-22 Page 3

(A) Those as we have indicated, where there is a relaxing and the setting up of drainages; for the drainages may be produced by the character of treatments indicated. The osteopathic treatments are of these characters: There are those where stimulation of ganglia as related to the functioning of organs will assist in increasing the circulation to produce drainage. Or there may be such as to PREVENT drainage, or to prevent activity in this direction. And there are those where specific mechanical adjustments may be made. Hence: Those first in the cervical, upper cervical, and through the upper dorsal. Then those in the 9th dorsal and throughout the areas of the dorsal plexus - as the 8th, 9th and 10th. Then the lumbar AND the limb should be included in same. Such as HAVE been given, that relieved the pressure - DOBBINS.

20. (Q) How many should be taken, and how often? (A) If the Fume bath is taken first as indicated, then the osteopathic manipulations taken once a day should be sufficient - if they are of that character indicated. And in six to eight treatments the body should be near to normal, WITH the improvements already made.

21. (Q) How should the knee be treated? (A) As given - specific attention in the area of the lumbar and sacral from which the lower limb receives its impulse of circulation; under the knee; in the upper portion of the muscular portions of the lower limb; then the feet. This should be done osteopathically, you see.

22. (Q) Will osteopathic treatments given by Dr. Maxwell [James D. Maxwell, D.O.] be of sufficient benefit from now on as to bring about recovery? (A) If they are in keeping with the suggestions made above, they would be the more beneficial. As they HAVE been given, to be sure these stimulate and help - but not as they

849-22 Page 4

SHOULD, from the general treatment!

23. (Q) Is there someone else near whom he could get that would follow the suggestions? (A) This will have to be sought out!

24. (Q) Would it be advisable for the body to go into N.Y. for a few days, in order that he may have the treatments made correctly by Dobbins? (A) If other conditions are such as to make it plausible or possible, would be preferable.

25. (Q) Any other advice for the body at this time that would be helpful? (A) Keep on keeping these eliminations. Keep the strengthening of the body. Keep optimistic and not pessimistic.

26. (Q) Should any internal medicine be taken at this time? (A) Preferably no internal medicine, for we upset the system with this - and as has been indicated, there is much nearer the normal reaction in the internal activity. It is rather the incoordination of eliminations that is the trouble at this time.
