R E A D I N G
Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will have before you the entity [849], ..., Va., together with his mental, spiritual and material problems. Considering his present physical condition, his family associations, associates and friends Edgar Cayce, Hugh Lynn Cayce, Jack Cominsky, Harry Goetz, [257] and [903] - you will advise in what manner all these can aid him to get well and reestablished in his life's work. You will answer the questions that may be submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the entity - the body, the mind; the conditions physical, mental and spiritual.
3. In considering the problems of the entity in the present, many things are to be taken into consideration; not only the desire of the friends to be of assistance to the entity but those problems both good AND bad that have been and will be brought about FOR the body, IRRESPECTIVE of the physical condition, by the book now being distributed.
4. For, all that will be said ABOUT the body will not to the BODY be good, though it will be good for the body if it will be used constructively rather than being used to get even with someone else.
5. The first problem to be considered, then, is the fitting of the body physically for the activities the entity is so capable of doing, and for the contribution the entity may make in a mental manner to the well being of many of the problems that are confronting the minds, the bodies and the souls of AMERICA in the present.
6. First, then, where and how may the entity gain a better status for the meeting of conditions within the body?
7. The environs, the atmospheric pressures in the present environs, have not proven to be beneficial to the physical welfare of the body; nor would a continuation of the body living or being in the environs be beneficial, even in the next few months.
8. The activities, the abilities to attain the better
849-69 Page 2
influence may be had in that vicinity where the body has recuperated the most - at Clearwater Beach, Florida. THERE, there is the ability for the body to be in water and in sun. To be sure, there will be a season in the next few months not conducive to good conditions, but these will soon pass. For the next three months, then, THERE would be the better environs for the body - for the PHYSICAL welfare of the body.
9. Then - that contribution the friends may make to such: Not only in the material aid as may be given. For, so far as giving money is concerned, not a great amount will be needed, when there are the returns considered from the book just published. But the moral, the psychological support, encouragement, is that most needed.
10. For, as the body finds itself responding to the massage, the Appliance, the water, the activities in the OPEN, there may be the preparation for the greater work. But - in its preparation for activities - DON'T HOUSE THE BODY UP, if it would be bettered!
11. As to the contribution each may make:
12. Edgar Cayce - in and through the counsel and advice; moral, mental and spiritual support.
13. Hugh Lynn Cayce - in the same way and manner; but DO talk personally with the body.
14. Jack Cominsky - in preparations for a definite, active service of the body, [849], as it, the body, is physically capable to make the contribution to the associate publications with which the body Cominsky is affiliated or associated; and in the moral support that is necessary; something to look forward to.
15. Harry Goetz - in the preparation for the contributing to scripts for radio, as contributing to the preparations or outlines of plays; as aiding in giving moral support to the activities.
16. [257] - in the same way and manner, as well as what material or financial support that may be necessary in the beginning. DO NOT leave out the publishers in the contributions to the material welfare of the body in the present. Then to New York, where there may be the closer associations with those who have an interest in and a feeling for the abilities of the body - as indicated by their comments upon his efforts in the present publication. And we will find a BIGGER problem for [849] to meet - himself, and his ideals! And unless the entity is well grounded from the conditions through which he has passed, the last estate will be worse than the first.
17. But through those manners - provided, of course, this is
849-69 Page 3
compatible with the self, the family, and those who would aid in making that contribution to the better welfare of the entity [849] at this time.
18. Ready for questions.
19. (Q) If the treatment suggested through the Reading is followed, should I be well enough to live in New York next winter and discharge the obligations of an editorial or writing job? (A) Be well enough by July, if he will do it! and he has the moral support and the psychological effect of getting back to doing something!
20. (Q) What doctors would be best to aid him? (A) Those that are in association, or were in association with those that gave treatments, as well as any, will be GLAD to contribute to the welfare of the entity.
21. (Q) How can the book, THERE IS A RIVER, be sold for a moving picture? (A) Present it and if there are those possibilities, it should go to or be considered by more than one. To many of those - this will depend, however, upon the sale of the book, and its spreading. But there ARE those considered problems wherein there may be the using of the book, or portions of data as may be obtained, or already obtained, to be made into a play. The basis would be from the present book. But the play would be built upon the interests that are suggestive in the book.
22. (Q) To whom and by whom should this be presented and handled? (A) The heads of all moving picture companies. All of them have seen same, most of them have had experience, most are only waiting for the answer to the question, "Is there a demand?"
23. (Q) How can Harry Goetz be interested in presenting this? (A) An outline of how it might be built, and this might be presented.
24. (Q) Could the Readers Digest be interested at this time in an article? (A) If there was a demand from a hundred people that they do it, they'll pay three thousand dollars for it!
25. (Q) How can this be set up consistently and at once? (A) A hundred people write to them asking for it!
26. (Q) Any other suggestions for the use of the book at this time to popularize it? (A) These have been set in motion - they only need the plans worked that have been heretofore outlined.
27. (Q) Please advise (for the benefit of Harry Goetz' interest) as to the possibilities of using THERE IS A RIVER. Would the book be successful as a picture, or should [849]
849-69 Page 4
write another book dealing with Life Readings on reincarnation? (A) Either may be used; it depends upon whether the individual that would attempt the use of same is seeking for the material returns without consideration of the basis of same, or whether there is the consideration of the basis of the book THERE IS A RIVER AND the returns with same.
28. (Q) In what department of the Saturday Review of Literature could [849] aid Cominsky's plans for the success of his paper? (A) In writing articles for same.
29. (Q) In what direction, or along what special lines? (A) These will show the abilities of [849] in meeting most any phase that is needed for such a publication, for this - too - is expanding.
30. (Q) Into what permanent job - in the expansion - could [849] fit? (A) Reviewing of the articles for the magazine, as well as contributing same, of course.
31. (Q) When could [849] take over this position, if presented by Cominsky? (A) When is tomorrow? This depends upon too many things. We can't tell you that it will be Thursday the 12th of August, or on a Friday the 13th of February! It depends upon how many friends are to be contributory to this - will they do it or not? Will [849] respond, or no? Will there be a hurricane to blow him away, or no? Will there be a train wreck that will injure someone associated with same? WHO can tell?
