1. GC: Considering the environment of this body as it will be for the summer at Clearwater Beach, Florida, ... Street, please outline a routine which will bring the best results in convalescence; answering the questions he submits, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [849]; this we have had before.
3. As we have indicated, the environs of Clearwater Beach will be most helpful and beneficial for this body - for the next three months. By then, the body should be able to control itself sufficiently to begin to carry on with its outlines of work, its writing, its associations with others - and continue such treatments as may be necessary in the environs of New York.
4. But that as will be needed in outlines for administration of helpful conditions in Clearwater:
5. Whenever the surrounding or the weather permits, there should be at least three-fourths to an hour's time spent in the water each day. In the swimming exercise, use that character of stroke that is accredited ordinary to women beginners in swimming; this more that of the dog fashion swimming, with shoulders and arms, and the spreading and drawing up (and pushing back) of the lower limbs from the hips or much as the regular manner of treading water.
6. As to the administrations for the correction of those disturbances which have bothered by the body through the winter - much of the inflammation and poisons, as absorbed from the condition in the nasal passage and soft tissue of the head and throat, now causes that stiffness in the neck and shoulders; while the cold, the lack of massage - and thus dependent more upon the eliminations through the alimentary canal - has caused a retardment in the building of resistance and resiliency in the muscular forces through the locomotories.
7. Some of the nerves and tendons have been aided, however, by the vibratory use of the low electrical Appliance. But

these will also need considerable attention as the massage is given.
8. Do not - in the first few weeks, or first few weeks, or first three weeks, at least, be too strenuous in the stretching of the tendons in knees and in the feet. But as the heat and the application of all those things that will be indicated begin to react, then gradually increase the deepening of the muscular tissue in treatment. Not so as to bruise, or as to injure the tissue being revived by the effect of the properties given vibratorially.
9. And thus we will change these somewhat, as to their application.
10. Do continue with the low wet cell application, but keep well charged, and increase the amount of the charge to at least: 2 pounds of the Copper Sulphate, and at least an ounce and a half of the Sulfuric Acid C.P., and at least 6 drams of the Zinc.
11. Then, with the Gold Solution - give this only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
12. The Camphor, increase the periods this is given - Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, this should be given.
13. And the Atomidine (and do not cut the commercial strength too much) - use this also on the same days the Gold is given. Use one in the afternoon or evening, the other early in the morning.
14. DO keep these up.
15. In the matter of the massage, now - use this as the combination of oils for the massaging, and this to be given rather strenuously in the shoulders and neck.
16. To 4 ounces of Peanut Oil, add - in the order named: Oil of Pine Needles...................1 teaspoonful, Lanolin (dissolved).................1/2 teaspoonful. Shake these together whenever it is ready to be massaged. Pour a quantity into an open saucer. And in the beginning, do massage all that the body will absorb, daily. After ten days to two weeks, this may be done every other day.
17. Do take the exercise, not only with the walking and the swimming, but that as the body may take as it sits, or while reclining - the stretching of itself; arms, shoulders and limbs, very much in the manner that a cat stretches itself when arising from a nap. This would be done once or twice a day.
18. Keep the eliminations well. The Senna is well, but change occasionally to Upjohn's Citrocarbonates. This will aid in keeping down the acid through the alimentary canal.

19. Do keep those foods that have been indicated.
20. Do these for the next three weeks. Then we will give further instructions, AS apparently there is to be a different masseuse.
21. Ready for questions.
22. (Q) What areas and muscles should the masseuse work on to loosen the lower part of the back, so that it will bend forward? (A) From the 12th dorsal downward.
23. (Q) What exercise can the patient do to help this loosening? (A) Just as indicated - the stretching. Turn on the face when this is attempted, to be sure.
24. (Q) What muscles should the masseuse work on to help get the neck straightened? (A) This has been indicated - the shoulders and neck, see? around the shoulder blade, and ALWAYS away from the head - not towards it, and in a circular motion. But don't bruise the body, especially in the lower limbs, for the tendons and nerves are beginning to show more life and activity - don't cut them off! Do these for the three weeks, and then we will change, according to the needs and the directions for the masseuse.
