Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
1. HLC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [874], present in this room, and the status of her legal affairs, in connection with the Estate of [husband], and matters pending in Surrogate Court of New York County. You will explain the conditions as existing and advise her regarding same. You will answer the questions that may be submitted.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [874], and the status and those conditions as we find in reference to those matters in Surrogate Court.
3. As we find, these need only the time for the regular conditions that are required in the settlements and straightenings of same.
4. While there are some circumstances that may be called by some irregular, these - as we find - are only as the periods that are allowable under the existent conditions.
5. Ready for questions.
6. (Q) Should I change my attorney? (A) We would advise a change; for there is a taking advantage of these situations. Though this may require a little more time, there would be a greater assurance of these matters being handled in a more equitable manner so far as the body, [874], is concerned.
7. (Q) Would you advise any particular attorney to secure? (A) There are many, to be sure, but we would choose those that are - or one that is more in sympathy with, or has an understanding of, the situations; as in relations to the affairs of the city and the associations or connections with same. Such as those of Eggleson [Englander?] or Lefertson (?).
8. (Q) Should I keep my money invested as it now is? (A) These are very good, so long - of course - as the conditions and circumstances surrounding same are in order.

9. (Q) What about the savings accounts? (A) These are sure.
10. (Q) What will the Surrogate order regarding estate matters be? (A) This will depend somewhat upon the one who is presenting same. For at present it is being held rather in abeyance, giving those in the settlements and in the changes of same the use of or the relationships with same for a longer period. The order eventually will be in line with that which is desired by the body, [874], for the settlements; which should be, as we find, in the same term.
11. (Q) When will the estate be settled and money be secured? (A) It can be secured in the May term, or May change here.
12. (Q) What is the name of the attorney it should be changed to? (A) Well, this should be rather a choice by the body itself; rather than from here. But those that have been associated more with affairs of city would be much preferable to this.
13. (Q) When will the trust for my benefit finally be set up? (A) This again, as may be understood, all depends. There are certain periods allowed for the action not only by the judges that handle same, but it depends upon the manner in which the attorneys that handle same call for or insist upon the order being issued for same, see? These, then, make for the changes; which is why we find it would be more desirable for the changing of the attorneys in this particular instance - and would make for the SOONER culmination of ALL settlements, including the first of the payments and the setting up of the trusts - as are called - in the settlements, see? All of these should come along very close together, if they are pushed along in the same way and manner.
14. (Q) Shall I trust the executors? (A) If there are the proper sort of attorneys that are in sympathy with the needs and the necessities of the body, then - as has been set as regarding these officers - it would be very well. We couldn't change them very well.
15. (Q) What will happen with the Jersey property? (A) All of these questions become very speculative; depend ing upon who is handling same, see? As we find, they CAN be handled to an advantage for buildings for specific conditions and operations that have begun in this section. Hence it would be a very advantageous piece of property to be used in making for some of the settlements in the first portion of the settlement.
16. (Q) Should I take a trip this summer with my daughter
874-1 Page 3
to Jerusalem? (A) This would be very good; as we find, it would be advantageous in many directions. We would, however, let it be August before taking it!
17. (Q) What would you advise as to the best selection of an apartment? (A) This should be selected according to the circumstances, the conditions, the associations, the social aspirations, the social activities. All of these things should be taken into consideration in making such a selection; that is, from the material angle. For it would be very hard to approach it from the spiritual angle unless this is sought from or through such channels, see?
18. (Q) What disposition should I make of the jewelry in my possession, or should I attempt to dispose of it at the present time? (A) At this present time, as we find, this may be disposed of - at an advantage - to those who are the buyers or purchasers of such jewelry at this particular time. Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. We would dispose of same at that place.
19. (Q) You would advise the disposal of it? (A) We would advise the disposal of same at this time.
20. (Q) Any other advice for this body at this time? (A) First, as we find, considering all the circumstances and conditions, we would change from those handling same; and require - through those where the change is made - a very definite accounting. There are some irregular conditions, you see; but they are WITHIN the law, not without same. But we would not be hasty in disposing of the Jersey property, but make those connections through the associations for the improvements or buildings that are in this section, see? We would have the jewelry here at these centers, as indicated - Fifth Avenue - these are the better channels for disposal in the present. Do that.
21. (Q) Who are the two partners in control of the property in Jersey, and what is their attitude in regard to the entity? (A) They may be trusted, but don't trust your lawyer that you are having to handle much of this - as yet - unless you change!
22. (Q) Would you advise a movement in residence now or in

October, from the present apartment? (A) That depends, to be sure, upon whether or not there is to be the trip. If there are to be the changes in such associations, as we find, it would be the most advisable or most reasonable to make these in the regular period, or in October, after the return - see?
23. (Q) Any others suggestions at this time? (A) We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file
