1. EC: Yes, we have the body and those conditions-physical that have disturbed and do disturb the better physical functioning of the body.
2. In giving those conditions that we find apparent, here we find in this body an example of how the knowledge and application of certain characters of anatomical conditions in a body might prevent disturbances later on. For these conditions that disturb the body have been and are of such natures that impairments and impediments to a perfectly normal circulatory force have brought and do bring about disorders that gradually have builded themselves into disturbing factors at various stages of the cycle of development in a GROWING condition in the body.
3. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [877] we are speaking of:
4. First, we find that the BLOOD SUPPLY in itself is fairly good. However, as indicated by specific conditions that exist from time to time, there are carried activities in the superficial circulation - and eliminations through the perspiratory or respiratory system - that should be carried through other eliminating channels. Thus large pores are produced, or the opening for blotches or spots on portions of the body, especially in exposed parts of the body. And AT TIMES there are the indications in the emunctory centers of such conditions being under the skin; as under arm, in groin, about scrotum. Gradually they are being eliminated through these channels, forming at times irritations. This condition (as many others that have gradually become disturbing) is from hindrances in a perfect coordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system; or the vegetative nerve force and the sympathetic or superficial circulation. Hence we have a disturbance of the nature indicated in the circulatory system. And, as will be seen, it is indicated in specific centers.
877-3 Page 2
5. From the same condition that exists in the cerebrospinal system, at times under strain - when the body has exercised either physically or mentally to an excess - there are warnings; simply the INDICATIONS of the disturbances that are the EFFECTS, AND NOT CAUSES. Hence the headaches that arise from conditions existent in the specific centers that AFFECT the assimilating system so as to REFLEXLY cause disturbance in eliminations through alimentary canal. Also there are pressures that cause to the head, to the eyes, to the throat, indications of disturbances in the circulatory system, and - as indicated - at those centers where the vegetative and the cerebrospinal make for specific connections that are in accord or in sympathetic relationships to the functioning of organs of the DIGESTIVE system.
6. In other respects we find also the same character of the suppressions; and in other specific centers there is indicated a disturbance with the organs of the SENSORY forces - as to the ear, to the eye, to the organs of the hearing, smelling, tasting, seeing, speech. Hence, it is indicated that these are not subluxations but are in the form of a lesion - rather an unbalancing along the segments in certain portions of the cerebrospinal system; which, allowed to remain there, has gradually builded in the physical forces of the body those conditions that now gradually more and more disturb the body in its functioning, as is indicated. When the body mentally is active, under special stress or strain, under excitement or expectancy, it may in a manner cast much of this aside. How? By the natural flow of the IMPULSES FROM the vegetative forces, through its association with IMPULSE, and the body carries itself on what may be termed WHOLLY a nerve reaction.
7. In the same relationships to the suppressions that are of natures in the upper dorsal area (or more specific from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th dorsal), we will find that these have produced the tendency for a disturbance in the assimilating forces, as indicated. Hence there is produced a slow or LOWER hepatic circulation than nominal. Not that it has made for any metabolism that may be said to be of an extraordinary disorder, but it has made - through the liver and through the spleen's secretions - a LESSENING of those activities to supply to the system sufficient of the lymph and emunctory activity through the digestive forces to produce PROPER peristaltic movement. Or, there is either the necessity of watching the diet very carefully or using laxatives or more powerful activities to create - THROUGH the alimentary canal - the proper eliminations. This
877-3 Page 3
naturally makes for a slowing in the hepatic circulation, also in the activity of the kidneys as to coordination with the liver's activity; bringing a heaviness to the body, a tendency for drowsiness, a tendency for periods when the body feels - under strain - as if, unless it can rest and be off of the feet and quiet, it will go to sleep, as it were, on its feet. This is an auto-intoxication that arises from excesses of the toxic forces being distributed into the blood stream, that find expression in those activities as indicated in the eliminations through portions of the channels.
8. In making for corrective forces for this body, then, inasmuch as these specific conditions in the cervical and dorsal areas as indicated have existed for some time, we find it will require time, patience, PERSISTENCE on the part of the body for those necessary reactions to become NORMALIZED for the body. That is, there must be specific periods of the correct adjustments of the conditions in the dorsal and cervical area specific, and sufficient out of door exercise in the open, sufficient of those normal reactions through the dietetics for the body. Only in so doing may we OVERCOME those tendencies for a reversal (and at times in doing these there may be even more DISTRESSING SENSATIONS than heretofore experienced!) and normalize the body to the new flow, as it were, of the circulation THROUGH the body in its present activity, see?
9. Hence, as we would find, first, we would have a period of at least sixteen to eighteen adjustments and treatments osteopathically given; making specific activity or movement GRADUALLY, SLOWLY, in those specific centers as indicated. These we would have twice a week for the period necessary for the taking of sixteen to eighteen such treatments. Then have two to three weeks of rest by leaving off the treatments. Then take just as severe or even MORE severe treatments during the NEXT sixteen to eighteen treatments or adjustments.
10. During the first period of treatments it would be well to take something as an assistant in the ASSIMILATING forces of the body; as Pepsodol, or a combination of a very mild quantity of Milk of Bismuth and Essence of Lactated Pepsin two to three times a week. The proportions would be six to eight drops of Essence of Lactated Pepsin in half a teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth, stirred together in a FULL glass of water and taken - two to three times a week after a meal.
11. Now, these properties will tend to make for nausea at times; but on each day following the days these are taken,
877-3 Page 4
we would take a full tablespoonful of Milk of Magnesia - just before retiring in the evening.
12. During the whole time we would have periods of specific exercises in the open; as walking, swimming, golfing, riding, and those things that make for the exercise in the open.
13. Let the diet be more of an alkalin-reacting nature; that partakes less of those foods producing starches for the system but sufficient of the carbohydrates, proteins, and the activities that will increase the iodine reaction (which are very good in the present surroundings of the body).
14. We will have those periods when the body will feel as if it is not as well as it was before beginning the treatments, but be patient and be persistent. For if we will keep these things, making for the proper activity mentally and physically to keep normal, we will bring normalcy for this body, [877].
15. Ready for questions.
16. (Q) I have worn glasses since I was six years old. Is this wise or necessary? (A) It is wise and necessary in the present. Again we find where there might have been, in those early periods and formative years of structural growth, the adjustments made in the cervical and upper dorsal area which would have alleviated this condition entirely. Now these conditions must be taken into consideration as the adjustments are made. Hence we would suggest such an one as Dobbins, you see; so that, taking these into consideration, there may not be the injury to these portions. However, we may find STRENGTHENING in the vision when these conditions have been aided by the general adjustments, especially in the dorsal area; gradually, then, there may be an aiding in the cervical to the optic reactory forces, especially through the vagus centers.
17. (Q) I seem to have a subconscious nervousness - (A) (Interrupting) This, as indicated, is from not exactly a subluxation but rather a hindrance in the dorsal area. This will be aided by the adjustments and corrections, with the consideration for the digestive fluids and forces - that will be aided by the use of those simple properties indicated to overcome these conditions, as WELL as those blotches that have appeared on face, nose, hands, and as indicated at times by the blotches or splotches under the skin in the armpits, elbow, under knees, in the groin, in the scrotum area, over the lower portion of the abdomen at times. These will disappear; for with these corrections there will be brought about the normal coordination between
877-3 Page 5
the eliminating channels. For we eliminate through the respiratory system, through the breathing, through the lung, through the perspiratory system, as WELL as through the alimentary canal and through the kidneys. Now these, as indicated, where poisons should have been carried through other channels, are expressing themselves through the vegetative nerve forces.
18. (Q) What can I do to correct the unconscious constant picking at my finger nails? (A) Remove those pressures that cause the reactory forces to the locomotories through the BRACHIAL center, as indicated from those suppressions in the upper dorsal area.
19. (Q) I seem to require an abnormal amount of sleep - (A) (Interrupting) As indicated, this comes from the auto - intoxication by the slow distribution of poisons to the various portions of the eliminating system. Follow these suggestions and we will make for the normal forces for this body.
20. We are through for the present. Two copies to Self (one for Dr. Frank Dobbins) Copy to Ass'n file (See list [which was enclosed] of Alkalin-Reacting Foods, of which your diet is to principally consist with exception of changes indicated in reading. GD)
