This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of September, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

1. GC: You will have before you the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you, and you will give the interpretation and lessons to be gained from each of these, as I read same to you. You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900]. This we have had here before. The dreams are as the experiences to the mental conscious mind of conditions as are being enacted, and as are correlating the experiences of the subconscious and gaining through that subconscious many lessons, through the visions and dreams, that may be used by the entity in the development of same. In the dreams the body shows the various phases of the development, as is and has been presented to the entity from time to time. Use same, then. Ready for dreams.
3. (Q) Friday morning, Sept. 10, 1926. Some trouble in the office, and it seemed about a woman's account, yet I am not sure. It seemed some check should be made out different, or there might be complications - possibly legal. I am only sure of the repeated saying by the Voice: "Your wife should make out the check for $150" (yet that your wife didn't seem to apply to my own wife [136] - altho it might have, for I seemed to understand it as pertaining to this lady's account). However, the Voice kept repeating: "The $150 check should be made out by your wife - your wife - YOUR WIFE." (A) In this there are presented to the entity, through this vision, those conditions as regarding the specified amount, and of conditions that should be attended to, which involve not only the office but those as are associated with same, and the accounts will show that this is to be attended to. Also that of other conditions pertaining to the same amount, showing that this amount - $150 - as relating to a woman, to a lady's account - though these two are different, see? are presented for the mental conscious mind of the entity. Then, in acting upon same, be careful of those conditions as related to the office account with a woman's account, see? friend of the wife's. Also as those as related to wherein

other checks of $150 should be made, see?
4. (Q) How should I act in this matter when and regarding whom? (A) The account, as is given. The other check, as is given. One comes in - one goes out, see? due to be. That is, the check in the account in the office, or in the books, see, is due to the office. The other is due out, personal, see?
5. (Q) Cayce was giving a reading for me and acted unnatural while unconscious. His body rose and twitched. Frightened, I wondered, and seeing Mrs. Cayce remembered something to do. I said: "The body shall be physically normal and quiet and the body mentally balanced and fit." Then Cayce quieted down. Suddenly we changed to a hay ride, and all our friends ([140], my sister-in-law's) were there together with Cayce and his family. However, Cayce was still asleep, because I had not had a chance to awaken him, but Cayce was with us, his eyes open, doing what we were doing - yet still unawakened. I wanted to wake him up but my mother prevented me, because of the formality and display I would be forced to go through in the process of awakening Cayce from the unconscious condition. So Cayce, the active, remained mentally unawakened, and I, owing to my mother and social relations, unable to awaken him. Then out on the hay wagon, someone (I think it was Hugh Lynn) said to me: "[900], you have not got much money, have you?" "No," I replied, "to tell you the truth I have not, but I have a pretty good income from the business -" This was waved aside as irrelevant, and we seemed to be in a predicament. (A) In this there are presented, through the subconscious mind, conditions as regarding those associations and relations of the body physical, body conscious, body subconscious, mind, as relating to readings as given by an individual, and in same there is shown that while the information is obtained and is used in a way and manner for development of same, yet under adverse conditions the entity might be put in that position wherein would feel that the position, in a social or moral manner, might be hindered by association with same. See? as is visioned by the entity. Under such conditions as is seen, all sorts of conditions arise that are constantly of that nature of being detrimental to many. The lesson, then, either, as has been given, whole hearted and true, or in that position wherein used as the study rather than as an application in the life, see?
6. (Q) Sunday morning, Sept. 12. On board a big ocean liner - presumably the Leviathan. We were seated at table - many of us, including those about me in my daily life. It

was a party dinner. I arose towards the end to make a speech. It seemed I was master of the ship, and directing its course. I said in my speech: "I have an announcement to make to you all. Last night in the terrible storm I lost my way and also control. I prayed to God to steer the ship safely through the rough sea, terrific storm, and to keep us off the rocks and destruction. This morning we were sailing in placid waters and in proper direction, and I again have our bearing. You see we are safe - altho I confess not due to me, for I lost my way in the storm." They paid little attention to me and didn't seem to realize the importance of my announcement - that only thru the Divine's help and guidance were we all saved and I again given control. They didn't seem to realize how much their own being saved depended upon my direction of the ship. Disappointed, I sat down and tried in a way to explain the wonder of divine action to [2886]. He took some licorice drops and gave some to me, saying: "Well, then, let's have better and more praying and less preaching." I felt rebuked and said: "Let's have better and more manifestation of that divine we pray to, and by virtue of whose power we are enabled to pray." He seemed bored and anxious to leave me and rejoin the pleasure seeking others. I detained him, saying: "[2886], I am writing a book in which this is explained. I believe it will be a book that will attract much interest. When it is published, [140] and [4255] and others, will be glad to know me and talk to me." "Myron Granger will want to run around with you then," he replied sarcastically. I smiled, recognizing his opinion of Myron. "I know someone in England is interested in psychic work," I continued. "Why yes, many over there are very much interested," replied [2886]. "Do you know that the president of the Deutches Bank, a great power, is very interested? Many are interested. Why don't you finish your book?" "If this is the case," I asked in return, meaning the manifested interest of all these important people, "Why don't they (meaning those surrounding me) accept psychic phenomena?" I saw the earth or ground and on it drew two connecting triangles, making up the section of a circle so. [Two adjacent triangles, appearing like a pyramid.] I also saw a hedge of green. (A) Again we find there is presented here, to this entity, [900], those conditions as relating to the ship, as has been given heretofore, representing message, and the truth in the message, as is to be given to many peoples - as is to be carried abroad. As has been seen aforetime, in the development of this same vision, these seem to have been in

various phases, while in this there is seen the great ship, and the entity the master of same. Then, this is as the indication to the master - as is seen through these sources - master of the ship, or to [900], as these messages are being given, and as these are prepared for their voyage to the many minds of the world, keep then in that way and manner as straight, and as in that same way and manner as the director, as the one in charge, of such a ship, would be held accountable for the lives of each and every individual, whether passenger in the first class or in the steerage - whether one as that labors, or one as that pays to be entertained - the entity, the captain, the one in charge, as responsible for one soul as for the other.
7. (Q) Monday morning, Sept. 13. My father was with me in several this night, but the one that left the most emphasized and lasting impression was that of diphtheria. Some people seemed stricken with this disease and I was about to become one of them. My father and I were on an elevated station platform awaiting a 9th Ave. down town express. I noted a middle platform (it seemed 72nd St. Station) that was built as a special platform in case this station was made an express stop as seemed anticipated. I directed someone to this middle platform for a local train that ran only as far as 59th St., and waited with my father for our express. A train came along but it was one ahead of ours scheduled, so we took it and were glad to be ahead of time. Arrived at a store, we went up to the cigar stand and I purchased some. I told the cigar man of the diphtheria epidemic and he said yes, he had suffered with it. I talked of its symptoms - its choking tendency, etc., and he explained that it sort of drew up the tongue. I mentioned that I seemed in for it also, because my father had told me I was to have it. "No use my buying any more cigars - I can't smoke with a diphteritic throat," I said. "No, you certainly can't," he replied. "What are its symptoms?" I asked. "A scratchy feeling way deep in the throat," he answered. "Yes, that is just the scratchy feeling I have," I collaborated, and I did feel an annoying scratchy feeling - a croupy condition. Out of the store I asked my father how I could have caught such a disease, and he told me from the germ on a drinking - i.e. "a water glass, and while drinking therefrom. A diphteritic person preceded me in drinking and I thereafter contracted the disease and those after me may likewise contract it?" I questioned, and my father assented. I then noticed that I was wearing my winter coat, which was shabby, and my old shabby hat. (Either then or when I awakened, I wondered if this

indicated the time this disease was to make itself so terribly evident to myself and others.) "I ought get a new hat now," I said, "but no use, for I must go to the hospital." For it seemed I was living alone with my father in a hotel, and had to be taken to a hospital. First, however, I went to see my niece, [143], who had the disease. I entered a big private house the [4255]'s seemed to live in, ringing the door bell and opening the door and entering before the maid answered. The latter objected to this, and told me not to enter that way again - to wait for her to open the door. She complained to [4255], who was entertaining guests, and had lots of good things to eat. [4255] scolded me and I said I was very sorry and wouldn't repeat the action. Saddened I went upstairs to see [143] and she was suffering from diphtheria. "How are you [143]?" I asked. Gesturing in the manner of a much older person, she replied, "Oh, so so." She seemed very cute acting and talking in this oldish fashion. She was naked and I noted how red and hot from fever. "Does it choke you much?" (I was soon to be in the same boat, you see.) "It draws my tongue up and back," she replied, confirming previous data on this. "I hope you will soon be better," I said, and [143] shrugged. On my way out I heard [4255] laughing merrily with her friends. Then I took sick with diphtheria, was taken to the hospital. I felt them inject anti-toxin into my back. (A) In this there is that presentation of the entity from that source as is as the guide of the good that the entity may shed abroad to others, through those conditions that become detrimental to many peoples. Then, not only in the channel of the mental, but in the channel of the physical, shall the entity use its efforts to assist those who may be helped by the lessons being gained by the entity.
8. (Q) Does this mean that there will be a diphtheria epidemic? When? (A) Rather that as other epidemics - this rather as the direction, or as a singlization, to illustrate the lesson as may be gained by the entity, in the way and manner as has been outlined. The epidemic of diphtheria occurs often, and will occur again, in the early portion of December in present year, through portions of New York.
9. (Q) May I do anything to prevent its coming? (A) Rather do that to assist those with whom this becomes a dreaded condition. May assist in overcoming these conditions, yes - in the way and manner as has been given, yes.
10. (Q) Does it mean that [143] or I will contract the

disease? When and how? (A) No.
11. (Q) I have that scratchy feeling at my throat often - particularly at the time of this writing. Any present or future diphtheria indication? (A) No. Rather the lesson as is reached through those as has been given. These rather as the material illustration to the spiritual forces of the entity of that lesson as has been outlined for same. Apply, then, in that way and manner as has been given.
12. (Q) Voice: "About the 24th." (A) We don't get the connection - this will be presented again to the entity, about the 24th.
13. (Q) Voice: "Pennock & Ford will now go to 15." (A) This, as is seen, relating to those conditions in stocks, as are seen are active in the present changes that are coming about.
14. (Q) Does this mean Pennock & Ford will now go to $15 per share? (A) Go to $15 per share.
15. (Q) Voice: "60". (A) This still as relating to stocks, and may be presented or applied in the entity's application of same to those various things in which the entity is taking thought, for, as has been given, the taking of thought does not add one mite to the stature, nor to the conditions of the PRESENT, yet the taking of thought adds to the experiences of the entity through the visions as are seen in the subconscious forces, and through same the entity gains that lesson, that impression, of the various forces as are manifested, and as is seen in the illustration of the number, as is seen in 60, this illustrating a specific stock in which the entity had been dealing. Apply same, then, in that way.
16. (Q) Might pertain to Hudson now selling at 64 or 65. Does it? (A) Pertains to that one in which the entity had been trading at the TIME that this appeared - Hudson.
17. (Q) Something about Ford in this connection, and Ford automobiles and Ford management? (A) Combination of those as is seen by that stock being taken over by the Ford management, and coming under that control, see?
18. That is all the questions.
