This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of March, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of ... St., N.Y. City, and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from each of these, as I read them to you, and you will answer the questions I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900]. This we have had here before. Ready for dreams.
3. (Q) Night of Feb. 17 or morning of 18, 1927. [136] and I sought out a little theatre and showing our tickets were admitted to the sort of ante room, where they performed what seemed to me an unnecessary function. They made out a certificate for me, typing thereon my full name and home address. What is meant by the registering of name and address? (A) This, as is seen, being the vision to the entity of conditions as present themselves in and through the subconscious forces of body, and are varied or weighed by the conscious forces, with this subconscious experience. Hence this variation as is seen, and what is meant by this - that unnecessary action - showing the entity that there is necessary precaution in self regarding relations with the viewing of certain character of pictures and plays, and groups and activities with groups, see? for, as we find in the analyses through the body mind's reasoning, the entity reasons of unnecessary precaution or red tape being enacted; yet there is being shown, and will be shown to the entity, the necessity of such conditions in the life, and this then the step, or the preparation, for the full consciousness to be made in this entity's consciousness.
4. (Q) So registered and inscribed, [136] and I went inside to the auditorium, where we separated, [136] taking an aisle seat in the orchestra and I in a sort of dress circle section behind the orchestra, and divided off therefrom by a wooden and glass partition. What is indicated in this divided off partition? (A) That, without this necessary precaution and the

necessary conditions in the life, divisions come about, which are not in keeping with lessons taught, or in application of same - for, while division shows the various phases of the Force, yet the full power is in the union of applied force as one, and not as a divided force.
5. (Q) I seemed to have remembered being in this theatre before, occupying seats in the orchestra on the opposite side of the aisle from which [136] now sat. The play was about to begin and a carpenter came in to take down the glass part of the partition so that we sitting on these back seats might view the play in unobstructed fashion. He was having trouble, however, in pulling out certain spikes or nails. I went over to help him or even replace him and found I was likewise trying to fit certain spikes in certain niches. At first I felt incapable and foolish, yet an older man came over to do likewise. "If he can do it, I surely can and need feel no such backwardness," I thought. What is indicated in [136] and my separating and in the drawing out of the nails or spikes? (A) Just that as is seen in the continuation of the application of lesson being taught of the separation and that necessary for each, as individuals, to overcome, or obliterate, that there may be a more perfect understanding. Then, as is followed in this first, the lesson of the necessity of that precaution being taken, and of that precaution preventing the separation or division - else, as we see, the troublesome conditions arising from the necessity of corrections, or erasures, or of the spikes to be removed, that better conception, understanding, seeing, may be used in the development of conditions necessary for the perfect understanding.
6. (Q) A lady, elderly and stout, sat behind me. "I dislike coming to these 45th St. theatres," she said, "It is so terribly crowded and things fly in one's eye." What is indicated by this lady's remarks about crowds, etc? (A) That in this necessary precaution, and this necessary oneness, again there is the more perfect understanding, and not that HOWL, as it were, from imperfect vision, by those to whom the body would explain those lessons being gained by the entity. See? Each fits one with another in their regular order.
7. (Q) Then the play began. It was divided into 3 acts, the first of which seemed to consist in girls dancing. I joined in with their dancing, but didn't do so well. One girl seemed to have hurt her arm and to be suffering. I wished I could help her. I seemed to interfere with their idea of a good time. What is indicated by the first act?

(A) This in the play is as illustrating to the body consciousness that of an experience which would act as an explanation of the lesson as is being given the entity through this emblematical condition as has been presented. In the play - the first act - representing that of the first position, condition, or development of the mind of the entity towards conditions spiritual, and the hurt and the desire is as of that as has been builded in the development of the entity to this point wherein the desire is as that necessary to lead to the better understanding, and to the better abilities of applying.
8. (Q) At the close of the act we filed out into the lobby of the theatre and there I saw [136] looking at a stock ticker. Dorothy Shatzkin came along and said: "You don't do anything in stocks, [136]." "I take profits," replied [136]. "You are too young," answered Dorothy. What is indicated by the stock ticker, Dorothy Shatzkin, and [136]'s remark in reply to Dorothy? (A) That as is understood by the entity. That, with this necessary understanding and application, even these conditions, then, become applicable to the stocks, and to the conception of individuals, as their understanding of same is in the position of being understood - for, to the body conscious mind, these individuals represent certain conditions, or specific conditions, in the mind of the entity, and as these are applicable to the consciousness these conditions, then, become apparent to the body consciousness of the entity, see?
9. (Q) I seemed to have been out of the theatre during the second act, but found myself in the company of a very tall girl and many different kinds of animals. I didn't seem to care that I was married. Now once before I visioned being bitten by a dog and of becoming frightened. Then upon gaining control of self I ordered the dog away and he obeyed, the voice saying: "THE MIND OF MAN IS MADE TO DOMINATE AND CONTROL THAT OF THE ANIMAL." In the fear, I concluded the animal and I were alike. In my ability to control the fear in myself or in the animal I was different from the animal. My mind, therefore, is another or higher development of the same thing manifesting that development objectively (materially). This phase of creation manifests what another phase creates and by virtue of which manifestation adds thereto, but only in another phase is the mind entity organized to become active externally in this materialized phase. Animal mind does not evolve into intelligence - it manifests a degree of intelligence or section of it, possessed in total by the principle doing the

manifesting. Man then must manifest this total power of intelligence possessed by this unknown principle. It must be that intelligence in manifested form, split into the many, because the man organization contains every element, fully developed, that composes the life principle, as a drop and the ocean. The ability of intelligence in fully developed in the organization, such that the monad is a potential duplicate in ability to the whole principle. By manifesting this potential ability objectively, each individually become capable of realizing this ability and its application one with the life principle. The latter then has a viewpoint that encompasses space and is evolving out of itself (its own substance), in space (its own process), other viewpoints that may likewise encompass space, and know themselves to be that. But how do many selves exist in the one self, or many self consciousnesses exist in one self consciousness? (A) In that each, as the individual, retains its own consciousness made one in its activity - or as is seen by this crude, yet direct, illustration of same: One power in an electric line may light bulbs of four, eight, twelve, sixteen, twenty, forty, sixty, seventy, ninety, hundred, watt - each of that intensity as indicated by its power of expressing, yet each one expressing the selfsame thing. Each lost in the other until it (the light) is made manifest in this direct current as leads to the manifesting, or exposition, or the factors as necessary in same, see?
10. (Q) Again in this dream a cat, this time, bit my arm and I ordered it off. Two birds mated, a third bird was thrown off by the two, the latter being married. So the second or animal stage. What is indicated by the girl and animal episode that took up the second act period? (A) Simply that development of the body consciousness of the lessons as are being presented to the body consciousness of the entity through these visions, and as the entity will view same in this first light as given, this then represents the second stage of the entity's development or understanding - as is viewed from both that of the sex, that of the animal, that of the relation of each to the other in its (the entity's) own development.
11. (Q) I returned to the theatre for the third act. Great high cliffs lined one side of a deep blue sea. From these high cliffs a giant cannon boomed. At the first shot a man went forth. Now it was my turn. The cannon roared and I went forth, landing on the opposite shore on a pathway lined on either side by high inescapable mountains. I took the path that led between the cliffs (the only one open), and

ran rapidly. The light turned to dusk, and I said: "This is one phase." Then came darkness and obstacles and fear. "This is another phase," I said. Then came pitch blackness, absolutely black, yet self consciousness in the darkness and of the darkness, and I said: "O yes, I know. This is that darkened period that is passed through." I had learned of it or remembered it. All the time I kept on running, now fearing, now gaining confidence, now understanding, now becoming confused, now faltering, now pushing forward, and all this while a great noise made itself hear. It was Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! all along. What is indicated by my journey from the cannon's mouth, through the cliffs, back to the theatre? (A) That same passage of the mental consciousness, or the position of the entity's understanding at this period - NOW - see? for, as has been seen, and as will be understood, this is as to the entity that the entity has reviewed self and self's study, then, seen through that as pictured or as experienced at the stage of the theatre - that the entity has seen not only the position and the three positions of the entity's own consciousness and ability to understand and to apply, yet has seen them acted out in such a way and manner as to see HOW the APPLICATION OF the lessons OF that understanding may be put into practical application in the life OF the entity, in attaining to that more perfect understanding and applying same in the lives of others.
12. (Q) As I started on my foot journey a photographer ran after me with a camera in his hand. Looking back over my shoulder as I ran I said: "Alright, you fool, follow me!" What is meant by the photographer and my different impression of the shades of light? (A) That of the gradual development of the entity in its conception of that as is reflected through the different or various shades of the lights that are as one, yet to each developed entity represents its own stage of development, see?
13. (Q) On and on I went until finally I came to a gray dawn, then to a lighter phase, and finally back into the back benches of the theatre auditorium. I noticed the narrow path I had traveled, the narrow door that led into the theatre, yet the many confused exits in the room off of the theatre auditorium. I worked my way to the right door and beheld in the gray dawn the people on the benches - I was back where I had started from, but had passed through many experiences in the mean-time. What is this path and these cliffs that bind it? (A) That as is seen - back to the first, as is seen, the

necessary lessons that bind one to another - that the entity not only in self, but the understanding minds of those to whom the entity would appeal and bring about these lessons as are necessary for the more perfect understanding, that each be kept in that one line that they may attain the perfect balance and not be lost in the maze of exits, or the maze of conditions as may be presented, by not keeping IN that way that brings consistent action throughout, see? This is understood by the entity.
14. (Q) Then the Voice in more of a shout than the usual whisper, and raising in loudness as it spoke, it said: "NOW BOYS, WHAT IS ALL THIS ABOUT - WHAT DOES IT MEAN? IT MEANS THAT THE SEED ARE THOSE SEATED ON THE BENCHES!" What is meant by the last phase of the journey thru the room of many doors, yet my sticking to the one course that led thru the door to the seed? What is this room into which the narrow path leads? What is this seed - the beginning and the end? How is it correlated with the whole? (A) This is as a perfect open light now to the entity, in that this seed is the word of truth, and the various passages through the various mazes of circumstance and conditions are as the various turning points to many minds, yet the entity reaches same - and, as is seen and heard by the entity in that as is called out in loud tones, that the entity understands and attains to that point wherein now the seed may be given forth, and be understood, and bring forth much good.
15. (Q) Is this simply introspective proof of that which I am writing about and may be so used? It is the answer and o.k. by my wider range of consciousness - (A) Consciousness to that to which the entity is attaining, and is as the inner view [interview?] to that that is being accomplished in the entity's endeavors. Follow these out, and apply same, by now giving to others that seed that will find lodgement in the hearts and minds of others, and bring forth fruits in its season, and of the KIND as is of ITS own seed, which is in Him. We are through.
