Time of Reading 11:40 to 12:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va.
1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [934], present in this room, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to the mental, material and spiritual welfare of herself and family. You will answer the questions she submits, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [934]; and those conditions which exist mentally, materially, spiritually.
3. In considering advice and counsel regarding these, many things and many conditions must be taken into consideration; when circumstances, environs and activities are considered.
4. First, these would be given as facts, as principles upon which that which is being sought may be based:
5. Know that in ANY relationship there must be a standard, an ideal. This cannot be better expressed than in, "As ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."
6. This, then, is not merely an idealistic thought, but is founded in basic truth - spiritual, mental and material.
7. It is evident that there are circumstances existing in the present environment which will require an adjustment, - if there would be a spiritual, mental or material experience for development.
8. Also it is evident that circumstances which have arisen are the result of those activities in which self and family have made application of self. Whether this is for discouragement, for anxieties, for spiritual and mental developments, depends upon the manner in which one chooses the standard or the ideal.
9. Hence there must be ADJUSTMENTS, if there will be the activities in the associations with others according to not the ideal but the APPLICATION of the ideal!
10. THEN, the circumstances and environs become opportunities for spiritual, mental and material development or welfare - if there will be sincerity of purpose, the love and the DETERMINATION, we find that the adjustments may

be made in such a manner as to make for the development of all concerned.
11. Ready for questions.
12. (Q) Considering our financial obligations, would it be most advisable for me to run the Bama Stand at 14th & Atlantic Blvd. this summer? (A) Unless those ideals are set and the determination to act in the manner indicated, and an individual in whom there may be put confidence, it is less than useless to attempt to run same. If there is this choice made, and the activities are in keeping WITH that choice, and the selection of help or aid is done properly, it may be made - as has been indicated - an OPPORTUNITY for fulfilling obligations (material), for the gaining of the insight mentally as to the purposes of life, as to the purposes of association, and thus - through the spiritual IDEAL - gain a better understanding. These done, it would be well. For it would give ALL the opportunity. But impress upon self, and upon ALL, that the body is associated or affiliated with not a goody-goody attitude but being purposefully good FOR SOMETHING! Parade not thy ideals. Be humble. Be gentle. Be kind. Be sincere. Be true to self, to self's obligations, to self's promises; that there may be within SELF the purpose to meet all factors - good, bad, indifferent - in such a manner that the EXPERIENCE may be for betterment of EVERY nature, for every member of the family - as well as those ye meet day by day.
13. (Q) Or would it be better for me to join my husband in Fort Worth, Tex.? (A) Do not overburden a good intention - but rather, in all that which is necessary, meet the issues of the present; giving encouraging words AND ACTIVITIES, that the position in Texas may HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP to that which is hoped for. And the help, through the ATTITUDE, will STRENGTHEN both situations. If there is the feeling, if there is the weakness, if there is the finding that ye are not able to determine and to live and to act as indicated, join the husband and then burden and belittle the own self and the purposes!
14. (Q) If running the Stand, would the gain be material or spiritual?
934-6 Page 3
(A) Unless it is spiritual, mental AND material, it is not a gain. And it may only be made a gain with first setting the standard SPIRITUALLY, MENTALLY, and the material the outcome of that activity - for that it will be. For as has been indicated, the seed ye sow must be reaped; and that ye have SOWN will be reaped also. But meet it, - in meekness, in faith, in determination to do the right for the Right's sake, mentally and spiritually; and the material gain will be commensurate with the faith, the work, the activity given.
15. (Q) If I should go to Fort Worth, how would it be best to arrange to meet our financial obligations? (A) This is the reason why they should be met now, here - where ye are!
16. (Q) Would Richard Owen of Clarksville, Va., be a reliable business companion? (A) This - as with choosing thy standard, thy ideal, thy companionship - is that which answers from within self. As we find, if the entity Richard Owen is met in the attitude as has been indicated would be the standard, would be WELL! If it is done in other than this attitude, then a question - and a very large one - arises.
17. (Q) Where can I get present financial aid? Should I ask my husband for a small amount of help? (A) It is well to remind him of the obligation - and use that thou hast in hand in a proper manner; and we will find conditions developing.
18. (Q) How should I go about securing a proper nurse for [1208]? (A) All of the circumstances must be taken into consideration here, as in all phases of same. It will be necessary that there be not too great a distance between thy rest and thy labors. Better, if it is practical, in the experience, that there be the closer association or affiliation - or a room - and through the same sources or offices have the care taken.
19. (Q) Should I continue with Virginia Brown, or is someone else more advisable? (A) This will have to be met with the general circumstance that is considered. As we find, the room - with those about same - would be the more practical, and more in keeping with the best conditions

of all.
20. (Q) What about rooming at the Davis Cottage on 16th St.? (A) Very well. Very good surroundings, and a real helpful experience for all, if that ideal is carried throughout as has been indicated.
21. (Q) Should I continue my study with Christian Science? (A) If it answers to that within self for every phase of thy experience, it is well. If it does not find an answer in toto in self, ye become then one not living up to that ye profess - or to thy convictions. KNOW that ye CANNOT expect others to be any more sincere with THEE than thou art with thyself or others!
22. (Q) In what particular way can I most help the Association? (A) By being true to self.
23. (Q) Please give me any spiritual advice that would be helpful. (A) It is not by any great thing to be accomplished, - mentally, spiritually or materially; but it is a GROWING day by day in the knowledge and in the application that grace is given in every phase of the experience. Do not expect to find that with keeping company with those who are QUESTIONED by those who are putting confidence or faith in thee that they will show mercy to thee, or give grace or credit. But in walking circumspectly in thine OWN conscience to that thou hast chosen and do choose as the ideal way and manner, ye may not only create the best environ for thy child, thyself, but thy husband. For in this way and manner is that growth for the greater spiritual, mental understanding. Let thy MATERIAL things be the outcome, be the RESULT OF thy application of spiritual ideals. Ye have the opportunity of thy life - those about you that love you, that would do FOR you! Treat them as ye would like to be treated.
