1. EC: Yes, we have those conditions that disturb the better physical functioning of the body, [983].

2. Now, as we find, these conditions are varied in the manner of their expression; but they arise from a general condition. It will be necessary to treat specific conditions that have in a manner segregated themselves, yet the general application of those things will be required to make for an adding to the correction of the lack of proper eliminations; also a stimulating for more of the resuscitating forces to create a balance in the elements in the system that show a lack or an excess. These would make for much nearer normal conditions, that would be more satisfactory from the physical angle.

3. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [983] we are speaking of:

4. The disturbances as indicated are more or less of a long standing. Or there has been builded along the cerebrospinal system the hindrances that have prevented the normal functioning in certain directions of organs. And these hindrances have gradually builded until we find disturbances in many ways and manners. So, we find conditions as these:

5. In the BLOOD SUPPLY, owing to the hindrances as related to the assimilating forces and the activity of the glands as related to same, there has gradually been added too great a quantity of potash and calcium. These have gradually built their effect; not in a manner as would be indicated from such disturbances in the body, to make for a stiffening of the joints, yet these conditions in a LESSER degree we find are expressed. Because the pressures produced in the circulation have not turned in those directions to bring about that sort of an activity is no reason that the cause for same does not exist; but it is not in such measures as yet to produce those conditions. However, in the centers about the locomotories - as in the brachial center, in the

983-1 Page 2

lower portion of the dorsal area - we find areas where pressures cause heaviness in the extremities; as to the hands, the feet, and in those portions where there are the tendencies for accumulation of hardened cuticle, making for those same conditions internally along the muscular forces at the joints.

6. These are the effects of an excess activity in those glands that make for such a character of accumulation; and the lack of the divisions in same in such measures as to make for the proper eliminations through the regular channels. Hence we have a blood supply that is overburdened with drosses. Yet the circulation or pulsation would be found to be strong at most times; at others we would find it very irregular. And there are periods when the pressure in the heart would indicate that the metabolism and blood pressure and heart activity are very much disturbed, which nominally is true - through those very conditions as indicated.

7. Of course, in the NERVOUS FORCES of the body, as indicated, we find specific conditions - in the cerebrospinal system. In the sympathetic or vegetative nerve system we find SYMPATHETIC conditions that in one case the nerve pressure causes disorders and in the other we find the nerve pressure is the RESULT of the disorder in the system. See? So we find conditions are, as it were, at variance at times; so we make for disturbances in the digestive system, pressures that disturb the circulation to the head. The distressed circulation through the lymph causes at times something of a sniffle, or those tendencies for the quick intake of breath to supply or to pass those activities of an increased flow of the lymph. Then there is the drying of same at other times in the nasal passages and the throat. The circulation in the lung area, as it were, becomes cold.

8. All of these conditions arise, as we find, from a subluxation (first causing same) in the 8th and 9th dorsal; first; and then a sympathetic condition produced in the upper dorsal and throughout the cervical area, as to produce these disturbances indicated in the body.

9. As to the functioning of the ORGANS themselves, we find:

10. The pressures through the nerve forces to the brain cause activities to the sensory system, so that the hearing, the speech, the tendency of the vision's activity all become subnormal at times and supersensitive at others. These are the natural reflex action from a disturbance in the system and an overtaxation in those areas or those manners indicated.

11. As indicated, the heart's activity does not show a

983-1 Page 3

normal functioning - through the disturbance in the circulation and the poor eliminations; but the greater part of the disturbance with the heart is sympathetic and not organic.

12. In the digestive area we find that in times previous there has been a specific disturbance in the stomach area, but with those applications that have been had for an equalizing of the acids and alkalines, the condition in itself has been helped; yet the causes have not been removed. Hence we find these give expressions in other ways; namely, in the manner in which the refuse forces are not eliminated through the regular channels and produce pressures in the hepatic circulation.

13. The liver at times gives trouble; those areas in the right side make for a fullness and a heaviness, bearing down pains at times in lower part of the back, or those disturbances to the kidney circulation. These are the RESULTS of those conditions being removed without the causes being eliminated. They have only altered their positions, as it were.

14. Then, as we would find, in meeting the needs of the conditions of this body, it will require patience, persistence and consistence on the part of the body. But these, as we find, would bring desired results, if they will be adhered to:

15. First we would begin with the osteopathic manipulations, given about twice a week for three to four weeks. These would be general treatments, though gentle in nature; save about every third or fourth treatment, after thoroughly relaxing the body, we would MOVE those segments in the 8th, 9th and 10th dorsal, then coordinate those in the lower lumbar WITH those of the brachial AND the cervical plexus.

16. We would then leave off the treatments osteopathically for an equal period (three to four weeks), and during such a rest period (not during the period when the treatments are being administered) we would take the Atomidine internally for an active force with the GLANDS of the body; to PURIFY the blood supply. During the whole three to four weeks, only take two minims each day; one minim in half a glass of water before the morning meal, and another minim in half a glass of water before retiring in the evening.

17. In aiding the eliminations we would preferably use high enemas, rather than cathartics or the like. These we would take in the beginning at least twice a week, until two or three are taken; then one a week. But be sure an antiseptic is used each time there is an evacuation or a cleansing of the colon in this manner. As we find, the better antiseptic

983-1 Page 4

for this body would be Glyco-Thymoline in the last water. This is an alkalin antiseptic and would make for a much bettered condition!

18. After the three to four week rest period, then leave off the Atomidine and begin with the osteopathic manipulations again.

19. In the matter of the diet, keep to those things that are body and blood building. But let ONE meal each day, whether noon or evening, be only of fresh green, raw vegetables; any or all of these combined. An oil or salad dressing may be used, just as preferable to the body. Not great quantities of tea or coffee, but these may be taken in moderation provided they do not carry milk or cream in same when taken. These are as foods without same, and are more nourishing. While the food values in the milk or cream may be considered of an equal value alone, when used together they form a condition in the lactic juices of the stomach itself that does not make for the proper eliminations carried on through the whole of the alimentary canal. Keep rather an alkalin diet, adhering to the one raw vegetable meal each day.

20. After the second three to four weeks of giving the adjustments, then we would give further information.

21. Ready for questions.

22. (Q) Are my glasses correct for my eyes? (A) Will not be after the six or seven treatments osteopathically have been given; but in the present these are very good. It would be better to keep these that you have until several adjustments have been made, and then have the correct fitting of same.

23. (Q) To whom should I go for this? (A) To an oculist or an optometrist!

24. (Q) What will cure the bunions? (A) A massage each evening before retiring with soda (plain baking soda) damped with Spirits of Camphor, on the bunions themselves. As to the hardened places on the soles of the feet, or just between the toes or the point of the toes, massage these thoroughly also with equal parts of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh - and these will soften considerably.

25. (Q) What is the cause of the heavy feeling in my head and eyes? (A) As described, a condition in the circulation.

26. (Q) What is the trouble in my throat and chest? (A) This also has been given as a portion of those inflections in the circulation.

27. (Q) In my stomach? (A) As indicated.

983-1 Page 5

28. (Q) Is soda harmful or helpful to me? (A) Soda is harmful when taken in too large a quantity, as we have indicated. Do as outlined, and we will find these will bring the better conditions for this body.

29. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (GD's note: See letter [which was enclosed] with directions to Osteopath. See booklet [which was enclosed] explaining Atomidine, which may be obtained at Burrow-Martin's or Snyder's. See Alkalin-Reacting Diet List [which was enclosed]. Let us know when you have finished the second round of the osteopathic treatments, so we may make the appointment for a Check Reading.)
