Time of Reading ... Hotel, 11:25 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind, her idea of placing on the market a fur freshener for home use and also the product, a sample of which she now holds in her hand. You will advise her regarding making up this product and just how she should go about placing it on the market. Questions.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1000], present in this room; fur freshener, the sample of which is here, also the information which has been given respecting this.
2. As we find, these conditions exist: The product is good, as we have indicated; the manner in which it was prepared is very good, only needing the treating by electric forces to make it in such a manner as to give to the fur itself when used more life, or to add that in the electrical forces. While the product itself is not a very good conductor of electrical forces, this would - being in a container and allowing the current to pass through same, or the container electrified - produce in the atomic forces (it being stirred, with a glass rod, while it is in same) a beneficial effect.
3. Or - now don't let this confuse, for there must be a choice as to which would be used - there may be given a compound or a formula for a compound in which there would be neither grease nor any element that would be a problem to the user; and it would be effective to the fur, but a liquid, that would be a fur freshener for home consumption. This may be given in its entirety.
4. As to the manner in which this is to be distributed, this either requires the very slow process of the employment of those who might sell direct to the consumer, or this may be employed by making the preparation and putting it in such way and manner, by the advertising, as to make the demand for same through distributing stores of every nature. Or it may be through specialty stores that deal in that class of

materials for home consumption.
5. All of these have good qualities and bad qualities. For the furrier, while desiring for self, does not desire to make for home consumption in such a manner that it would hinder with those that would purchase other furs. On the other hand, the consumption or distributing in speciality stores or in department stores makes for the necessity of using a great deal of money for advertising. A slow process and requiring a great deal of work being done yet making for a means is local distribution by groups who would sell same.
6. Ready for questions.
7. (Q) Is the present formula satisfactory for a perfect marketable product? If not, what changes should be made? (A) It has been given that the product was very good, and only needed the electrifying to make it a better marketable product. The fault that may be found is too great a quantity being put on making for a clogging and a bad product for certain types or styles of furs. As has been indicated, if the present formula is to be used, electrify same, by putting same in a container and current as from a charging appliance or battery, stirring same at the time the current passes through for fifteen to twenty minutes, owing to the amount to be sure of the product in the container; stirring same with a glass rod.
8. (Q) Is a Wet Cell Appliance referred to for the electrifying? (A) Rather that which would be of an alternating or direct current in the appliance or as from a CHARGED battery.
9. (Q) What voltage or amperage? (A) A hundred and ten and sixty.
10. (Q) Are any of the ingredients now used curtailing the effectiveness of the product? (A) These do not curtail; only as has been indicated that the product in some of the oils makes for the tendency - where too much or a quantity is put on - to clog the fur.
11. (Q) What proportion of each of the ingredients should be maintained to avoid the greasy condition after use, and make the fur as fluffy as possible? (A) As has been indicated, use that as is present - if it is electrified to break down the oils and greases in same. Or it may be compounded without these and still be a liquid, see?
12. (Q) Would it be advisable to pass electricity through this preparation.
1000-13 Page 3
(A) Do as has been given.
13. (Q) How could this be handled in quantities? (A) Preferably, so long as this is used with the oils in same, in either a glass or porcelain jar.
14. (Q) What price package will this be placed in for ready sale? (A) Fifty cents and a dollar.
15. (Q) Who should manufacture this product? (A) Depends upon the manner in which distribution is to be made. This may be increased or changed as the demands grow, dependent upon the manner in which distribution is begun.
16. (Q) What is the best trade name to use for this product? (A) Fur-Fluff.
17. (Q) Through what channels should this product be offered for quick sale? (A) This has been given. It may be in the slower way - salesmen. With money, through the department stores - and through quantities, though not a great quantity except slowly, though the furrier stores and the stores that make a speciality in RENEWING same.
18. (Q) Is Jennings' Furglo a suitable name? (A) A suitable name. Furfluff as we find would be well.
19. (Q) Should the product be placed in a container that it can be shaken out of? (A) So long as it is kept in a solid, it's better that it be in a glass or porcelain container - that it maybe taken out of.
20. (Q) At present the product is mixed with sawdust. (A) It's not sawdust; it's leather dust!
21. (Q) Is it better in this form or in salve form? (A) It's better in this form, unless it's changed entirely to a liquid.
22. (Q) Will you give the proportions of the proper ingredients in this product? (A) This begins from a base already begun. Use it in that manner and then add the other products as they have been - if it is desired to be used in this form.
23. (Q) Should I attempt to patent this or simply copyright the name and label? (A) Copyright the name and label, and register the label.
24. (Q) Any other suggestions that would be helpful? (A) These combined as we find in a liquid - you are not asking for it but we will give it to you - will make a better product and still remain a liquid. It may be put up in a container where it may be shaken, or in a very small mouth bottle - as lotions. Prepare in this manner; the formula may be changed to meet the various needs in various characters of furs, or this as one that would combine with
