1. GC: You will have before you [1000], present in this room, and the information given her on March 29, 1939 regarding the product Furfluf on which information has been given through this channel. You will answer the questions which she presents here, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1000]; together with the information which has been given regarding Furfluf. These in many varied forms we have had before.
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) In the Rdg. on March 29, 1939 the following statement was made: "There is the contract for such a period, 3 to 5 years, there is to be the use of same, and this given solely, wholly to him for its use in that distribution and activity." Mr. [1564] has indicated he would not be interested in handling the product for so short a time. Please explain what was meant by this 3 to 5 year period? (A) As it requires more advertising and expenditures through the three to five year period, or in the beginning, - that there would be those considerations given as to what would be the royalty during those periods; and this would be through the three year period to the five year period a variation - and afterward still another variation. But if it is given wholly, solely for this activity, this would be a continuous thing but, as indicated, varying in the contract - taking into consideration that expended. For there must be the consideration that at least sufficient is to be expended in the three to five year period to advertise, manufacture and distribute the product in such quantity as to make the consideration for the giving of same to Mr. [1564].
5. (Q) What suggestions can be given so that an amicable arrangement as to terms and periods can be arrived at? (A) As just indicated, and indicated in that which has been given, there must be the consideration of work already done

by remuneration so much per week, month, or a guarantee of so much per year, see? and this may be amortized from so much royalty per jar or can, or so much royalty and so much per week, month or year.
6. (Q) I would like to present a proposition that will be fair to Mr. [1564] and me. Reading advises selling prices from $1 to $1.10, reducing price of comb, jar and product, all of which will increase profits considerably. Is 8 cents a jar a fair royalty for me? Please guide me in this, and give advice enabling me to make proper decision. (A) As just indicated, such a proposition should be fair to all concerned. As we find, it would be six cents the first three years, eight cents the next two years, and then ten for the period of contract afterward; WITH at least a hundred per week for the activities of the body, which would be ASSISTING those who are to demonstrate the product as to the MANNER in which the product will be the best presented to the furriers, the public, as well as - to be sure - the first few weeks or months seeing that the product comes to standard.
7. (Q) How long should I receive one hundred per week? (A) Until there is the change in the amount of the royalty.
8. (Q) Will there be a market for wholesale distribution such as Mr. Simmons, furrier, of Saks, Fifth Ave., and coat departments such as Miss Hess's Dept. in Gimbel's? and how will royalty basis be determined? (A) Royalty basis is determined upon the organization distribution of so many cans, whether wholesale, retail or HOW, see? Hence as indicated, the manner in which the amortization of same would be considering that there must be first the preparation for manufacture in quantity, there must be individuals that would make those connections with various groups, stores and outlets. To be sure, the advertising to the laity becomes then the greater proposition, while the distribution would be through furriers as well as wholesale activities, jobbers and the like.
9. (Q) In the trademark registration papers the product is described as a powder. Should this be changed to agree with description in patent and is it important? Is this what was meant in Rdg. of March 14th? (A) The registration as copyrighted is one channel - that through the patent is another channel. These do not conflict, if these are even changed in the activities through the copyright office.
1000-24 Page 3
The completion of the patents, as we find, is complete. There needs be, as the activities are begun and there is the data written for the use of the product as it is distributed, that each of these pieces of literature to be applied go through the copyright. Do not let a single one go out WITHOUT being copyrighted. This is that indicated, see? These are made to conform so that each little booklet, not only that may be attached to the product but descriptions that will be written as respecting the manner in which the RENEWAL of furs and the like may be accomplished - for these will be not only illustrated but colored, and each form of this must go through the same, if it will stay protected.
10. (Q) What lawyer would you suggest that I advise with in going over the contract on the production of Furfluf with Mr. [1564]? (A) Choose someone who is sympathetic with the purposes and the activities of self. These are MERELY, as will be found in the matter of considerations, that there is the FORMALITY as it might be said - but, to be sure, have one; but do not give other than advice, NO strings tied to such an one!
11. (Q) I have eliminated corn entirely. Has this lessened the value of Furfluf? (A) No, this has not lessened the value of Furfluf; but this may still be used with OTHER products are developed for other activities - or as conditions progress.
12. (Q) Cork and leather combinations stick to furs and tear fur in combing. In order to comb through and sift more readily I have added white sand to formula. Is this an improvement, and should this be de-ironized? (A) If it is not to give a burden to the fur after the first or second treatment, it will necessitate being de-ironized - or passing an electric motor or compound over it so that the iron particles are removed.
13. (Q) Is the sand well? (A) The sand is well, if this is done.
14. (Q) Is small amount of briar, or its equivalent, helpful to carrier or can I do without it? (A) As we find, it can be as readily used without same, if the manner of electrifying same is done - that is, with the blow, as has been indicated, see?
15. (Q) To the finished product I have added 4 oz. to 5 lbs. of Para-dechlor-Benzene as a demother. (A) This is beneficial.
16. (Q) Have secured liquid preparation from Eimer & Amend called Pyrephredene. Which one is preferable to use?
1000-24 Page 4
(A) The first is the more preferable.
17. (Q) Give proportions and when best to add to liquid formula or finished product? (A) As it is the finished product, this is the better time to be stirred in same.
18. (Q) When it comes to large production if glaze is added to liquid formula half and half before either hits the solids, will this hurt the liquid formula? (A) No.
19. (Q) In the original formula is given 2 oz. Benzine and 2 oz. naptha. Chemist says these are identical. However, Benzene and Benzine are different. Which is meant in the Rdg? (A) Benzine. Z-i-n-e.
20. (Q) I have received notice that my room at the hotel will be raised to a prohibitive price from May 1st. Is Jack able to have this adjusted and will he do so? (A) If Jack is reminded again, he is capable and will have it adjusted.
21. (Q) Is there any other advice as to a proper place for me? (A) These, of course, will be as developments come. As conditions arise in the varying changes as will come about, these will gradually adjust themselves, if the ideal and the purpose is held. Do that. Lean on HIS arm.
