Stonewall Jackson Time of Reading Memorial Hospital, 10:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Lexington, Virginia. (Check Physical - special reference to throat)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - [1005]. This we have had before.

2. Now, we find the conditions are somewhat bettered than they have existed in the physical forces of the body, or the body is responding somewhat to that being administered for the correction of conditions; which, as reference to the throat, bronchials, these produced by cold, strain, and congestion.

3. As has been seen, the body physical - with its general makeup, has the tendency to easily raise the blood supply to that of temperature producing conditions, and such an irritation in the region of the plexus as radiates through the system, through the ganglia of the hypogastric and pneumogastric, produce temperature easily for the body.

4. Only needs, then, the quiet, the rest, and PREVENTING from taking more cold; or quietness, or from the use of the vocal chords; and to reduce temperature and to reduce the inflammation. Necessary, then, that the eliminations be increased. These may be done through that (and best through that) of both a heart and a hepatic stimulant, as WELL as that which would act with the digestive system, see? Also we would use small quantities Syrup of Squill with this. Also we would use massage over the throat and over the chest of those of equal parts camphor, turpentine, hog lard, and quarter the quantity of mustard. This will relieve the condition. Do that. Well, too, that the system be kept flushed, especially, with water - for two or three days. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Is there any local infection? (A) Only irritation at present.

6. (Q) Is he getting the right treatment where he is? (A) He is responding to that being given, as is outlined. These as given would be added, which would be an additional

assistance to bringing the nearer normal condition.

7. (Q) Any further suggestions for this body? (A) Do that as has been given for the present conditions, and to meet the needs of these. Well that the body be careful as respecting these; for when inflammation arises in system the weaker portions are affected, as has been given from times back concerning the physical condition of this body. Well that a gargle antiseptic be used. Best that these be alternated between an acid and an alkaline in their reaction. These may be used, or there may be used a solution to mop or clear out the throat, see? from the mucus producing conditions and swelling. As a gargle we would use, alternately, Glyco-Thymoline and Listerine. These are both well, and opposite in their reaction.

8. (Q) In what proportion should these be used? (A) Half quantity to begin with; that is half water and half of the solution. One used one time, one used the next - three to four hours apart, see? This external application will materially aid, as well as the Syrup of Squill to act with those of the stimuli for the system.

9. (Q) What would be the dose of Syrup of Squill? (A) The NOMINAL dose, which is from quarter to half teaspoonful.

10. (Q) Would hot packs to his throat be beneficial at this time? (A) Not until the eliminations are started more; and these would be bettered through the manipulation and the rubbing of the properties as given - an EXTERNAL application rather than HEAT, under the present conditions; for the body, as given, is BETTER than it HAS been. More scared than injured. But the reaction, of course, is in the blood supply and to the nerve system.
