This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the David E. Kahn home, 44 West 77th St., Apt. 14-W, New York City, this 28th day of October, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1037], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [509].

R E A D I N G

Born July 1, 1886, in Chicago, Ill. Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Tenn. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes. We have the records as made here by the entity, now known as or called [1037]; and those relations with the universe and universal forces, that may be manifested in the experience of the entity in the present.

2. In giving that as may be helpful to this entity in the present, know that the records that are made by an entity in its activities in the earth are the reflection of that the entity has done about its knowledge, its understanding of Creative Forces in the relations of self to the fellow man.

3. About the entity we find much that may be indicative of those influences in the earth that are as the appearances. These, as we find, bespeak of associations with heraldry, banners, swords, stays and the like; the shield with the bow, the coloring and the reflection of green fields and woods. And the clash that is made in resistances of individuals as to purposefulness, force, power, might of main, becomes associated with the entity.

4. From those experiences we find that omens arise. Not that they influence, but create by their VIBRATION an element through which the MENTAL and the spiritual forces of the entity may vibrate for constructive experience in their activity.

5. The pearl and the moonstone, these in combination or in their setting alone, are well to have about the body.

6. As to flowers - the pansy, in its reproduction of its vibrations from the earth, is active in such manners as to become centralizing for the entity in its meditation.

7. The astrological aspects, too, are as influences; yet these are dependent upon what the entity does ABOUT their relationships with the entity's activity.

8. STILL, there may be innate those influences from sojourns

of the entity in those environs that may be builded as a helpful influence in the experience.

9. Then, the influence from Mercury in THIS entity's experience we find making for rather the enquiring mind, the delving into the varied activities of others and their experiences with same - as to what their delving produced as mental reactions. And the entity in itself tends to draw conclusions from experiences of others. Not that the entity shuns its responsibility in such, but draws upon those influences that have been in the experience of others as well as how they may weigh with self's own experience.

10. From Mars also we find a benevolent influence, so that in the entity's experience it may be found that oft upon the activities of others in disputes, in wrath, in anger, there may come from the entity's own attitude - as to its mental influences - conditions and experiences even in the MATERIAL world that are beneficent influences in the entity's activity.

11. In Jupiter we find a widening, a broadening influence; so that things pertaining to travel, to people of other lands, to things of other ages and other climes, make for that upon which the entity may dwell; and which also may be used as a stepping-stone for understandings.

12. From Venus we find both a benevolent and a cross influence. And these through experiences in the earth, dependent upon the manner in which the entity uses its opportunities in relations to each, may become stumblingblocks or stepping-stones; dependent upon whom and IN whom the trust is made in the innate influences in self through such experiences. Yet it makes for a hopefulness. While there are periods of pessimism, the optimism is the greater in the experiences that may arise in its relationships with its fellow man.

13. Then, look upon every association that the entity may have with those through whom others may be aided as an opportunity of being a channel of expression for that in which the entity has given its experiences in the earth as a manner of showing forth His love. Thus may these be turned into great blessings to the entity.

14. Too, there may be made that which will make for growing friendships, and a better understanding of those that are the closer in their relationships to the body in the MATERIAL world.

15. As to the appearances in the earth, then, we find that these were those making for periods when changes were being wrought, that became far-reaching in their influence upon the economic world, the mental and the religious thought of

those dwellers in the earth:

16. Before this we find the entity was in the land of its present nativity, when there were those periods of the settlings in the land in and about what is now called Chicago, or Dearborn.

17. It was not during those periods when the settlers were being driven away, but the entity was among those who became the younger settlers in the land during that rebuilding, that reestablishing of the activities that made for this position in the EXPERIENCES of man in that portion of the earth, to become an outlet in the economic and political influences. But it also bore the brunt of those changes that were wrought in man's thought and practice in the moral and spiritual life of those portions of the peoples.

18. Then, in the name Lilyan Caldender, the entity became a teacher and a minister. About the entity came to be much of that which dealt with business influences and associations and connections.

19. And the entity in the present has had an "eye," as it were, for those activities of men in which their dealings and their relationships with others would indicate to the entity the tide or the turn in the affairs of a people, of a state, of a nation.

20. Not that the entity, even THEN, took part in same. Rather did the entity in the younger group, as the entity thought, as the entity ministered to the physical needs of many during the experience, build into the mental forces of those people that which made for the MATERIAL experiences and manifestations in the commercial and moral and religious or mental associations during the period.

21. Gaining - yea, losing; gaining in service, gaining in the loss of the thought of self-aggrandizement; losing when there were such sides taken that the entity for a period lost, as it were, control of itself.

22. Yet even during those experiences the entity found that those things which would appear in an outward show would make for that in the hearts of many in which they would come to put their real interest, their real trust.

23. Before that we find the entity was in the Roman activities, when there were those of the Roman soldiery with its pomp that began with the Caesars, as the expansion began in other lands.

24. The entity was among those that were born of the peoples in control of the Holy Land, or Palestine, during the periods when the Master walked in the earth.

25. Those experiences made for that which grew to be a barrier in the experience of the entity from the material

angle, yet the soul, the mental forces grew through the associations that came about during that sojourn.

26. Then the entity was among the ruling forces, and the daughter of the leader of the soldiers under Pilate - one Pontifus [?].

27. The entity then, in the name Charlene, through the soul and spirit GAINED throughout. The pomp and glory in the earlier portion of the experience came to mean much, and these find in the present experience of the entity their place and their usages; yet in the latter days - when the entity renounced positions in the social life - there were periods of the dread of same.

28. Hence the rattle of armament, the blaze of the trumpet, the beat of the drums in certain conditions make even in the present a tingling that runs through the system as a dread.

29. Then, those experiences make in the present for the love of that for which the Master, in the sermon on the mount, stood. And those words make for the same tingle, but it arises to EXPRESSION; while the dread makes for the oppressions within self.

30. Hold FAST to that thou hast gained in that thou didst learn there, "The righteous SHALL inherit the earth." This was that upon which the entity builded its experience during that sojourn. Then, in the present hold to that understanding that righteousness is not goodness as man counts goodness, but goodness as the Giver of life has given unto the sons of man. That thou hast purposed in the HEART, that thou dost hold in the inner recesses of thy mind - THESE be righteousness before the Father.

31. Before that we find the entity was in that now known as or called the Persian or Arabian land, during those periods when there were the heights - as it were - of the activities of the teacher that had builded the 'city in the hills and the plains.'

32. It was when those that came for healing were taught ALSO that, "As ye do it to thy brethren, as ye show forth the purpose for which ye entered, ye are healed."

33. In the experience the entity GAINED much through the relationships.

34. Hence we find in the present the abilities in those directions where the entity may COMFORT those that are heavyhearted, those that have lost their way mentally, those that have allowed stumblingblocks of grudges and of hate to build that which prevents them from awakening to the forces that lie within their inner selves. For THERE, in the temple in the mind in self, hath He promised to meet all who would open themselves to an understanding of their

relationships to Him.

35. In these efforts, physically, mentally, may the body in the present make for the greater experience, the greater manifestations WITH the use of that gained in, "The righteous shall inherit the earth." For the teachings of both periods were one; and the law is one, even as, "Know ye, O Israel, the Lord thy God is ONE."

36. The name then was Celian.

37. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land, when there was the preparation of those that were to become the emissaries and the teachers among those of varied lands, where there were the attempts for the correlating of the truths of the various groups or tribes in other portions of the land.

38. The ENTITY was among those that were chosen for such activities in the land of Taoi [?], in now the Gobi, or in the Mongoloid activity. THEN the entity was a princess of those peoples that were in command in the activities during those experiences, in the name then Amesh-Eshi.

39. In the experience much of pomp was in the heraldry of the peoples of that particular land; for gold was then as the sands to those peoples.

40. And the entity's activities were in the Temple Beautiful that was established in Taoi [?], which may some day be brought to light - when there have been those concentrated efforts in the direction to uncover the activities that will make for a greater correlating of the facts that Truth is that which grows in the hearts of men to make them aware of THEIR relationships to their Maker.

41. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how:

42. In applying that thou hast in hand TODAY! Do today the things thou KNOWEST to do; tomorrow it will be given thee that thou shouldst do THEN.

43. Know in whom, in what thou hast believed. For as He has kept thee as in the shadow of His hand, as He has upheld thee when thou didst walk in the way, so may ye strengthen thy fellow man.

44. Not in precept only, but in applying that thou KNOWEST to do - WHERE thou art!

45. Ready for questions.

46. (Q) What is my work? (A) As indicated; the way is for encouraging the weak, the faint; in giving strength and courage to those who have faltered here or there; in making for THESE in the experiences of others is the greater work for the entity.

47. (Q) How may I get into it?

(A) Do TODAY the things thy hands find to do!

48. (Q) What do you see in store for me, and where would it be best for me to fulfillmy destiny? (A) What hast thou in hand? TODAY? Use that thou hast, where thou art! Let HIM guide thy ways. Put thyself into HIS hands. Be THOU the channel, not telling Him where thou wouldst work or labor or serve or BE served! but: "Lord, I am Thine. Thou art mine. Use me as Thou seest fit."

49. (Q) Can I finish my purpose in this incarnation, so that I will not need to return to the earth? (A) As may any; if they will but put OFF the old and on the new - that is in Him; becoming aware of that I AM conscience within self that becomes one with Him. Yes.

50. (Q) And how long will I have to do this? (A) How long will you require?

51. (Q) How will I progress most in the present? (A) By the application of that thou knowest to do, in bringing awareness to others of His presence in them.

52. (Q) In what previous incarnations, and how, have I been associated with my daughter, [...]? (A) In those days in the Palestine land when ye leaned heavily upon her, for not only much of that given in message but for protection.

53. (Q) How can I best assist her at present? (A) Make aware more and more that we rely on Him; as then.

54. (Q) With Mrs. [509]? (A) Here again we find the closer associations of these (in the Palestine land). For as they came to know the messages, they came to know more and more of His FREEDOM from those things that BOUND men in superstition.

55. (Q) Why did my son [...] come into my life? (A) For that balance necessary, as has been needed in the experience - as in the Fort Dearborn activity.
