1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1039], present in this room.
2. As we find, there are conditions that disturb the better physical forces of the body.
3. These we find are of a specific nature; yet in other general conditions much help has come and does come to the body in the present from exercises and the breathings that have made for activities in the system as to aid.
4. For the specific conditions, though, we find there may be external applications made that will aid with those centers, those ganglia (that are aroused by the other activity), to induce resuscitating forces and thus give an enlivening and an activity that will make for much nearer normal forces for this body.
5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1039] we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, there is the indication of the impoverishment somewhat of the blood stream; a form of anemia, but rather that form in which vitality is at TIMES used in the rebuilding of cellular forces IN the blood stream at the expense of other portions - rather than a form of anemia that has become pernicious or officious in its reaction through the system.
7. Also there is indicated in the blood circulatory forces, by the balance in the katabolism of the system, that there are hindrances or lesions formed in portions of the system through which impulses are received to portions of the body for the circulation to be normally balanced.
8. These then produce disturbances at periods, more specifically when the body is relaxed than when the body is in exercise or activity - owing to the nature of the lesions. Being in the cerebrospinal system, in coordination with centers through which there is a portion of the
1039-1 Page 2
superficial circulation and activity of the system, these make for periods when there is the awareness of such conditions becoming exercisable in the activity of the body.
9. IN THE NERVOUS FORCES OF THE BODY, as may be indicated by the character of the circulation, as indicated by the very manners in which disturbances come, there is a condition produced through an activity in a plexus or ganglion FROM which nerve reflexes from the cerebrospinal system TO the sympathetic or vegetative system receive their impulse of coordination.
10. Hence we find in the last dorsal and through the sacral area a LATERAL lesion, SPECIFIC in the 4th LUMBAR center. And it is indicated in the coccyx area when there is the attempt through relaxation, or at periods of relaxation, for the equilibrium to be established in the circulation.
11. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, considered from the disturbances that have been of more or less a constitutional nature, the organs - through the manner of the activities in breathing, relaxing CONSCIOUSLY - have performed and do perform much better reaction to the sympathetic forces than heretofore.
12. Yet at times these become, as it were, under the spell of those influences from the conditions that exist in the last lumbar and through the sacral area.
13. Hence we find that by making the corrections of these, that we find are necessary to be made in the area - continuing with those applications CONSCIOUSLY for the increasing of influence or flow of activity of the gland forces to produce energies that revitalize the body, we would bring much nearer normal conditions; relieving the body-physical of a great deal of distress and producing a nearer normal coordinating body for the activity of the mental and spiritual forces through this particular experience or appearance.
14. For the body in this experience has MUCH to accomplish and much to give to others, that will not only be as an expression of self (thus giving a growth to the realization of the harmonies of the soul and spiritual forces within itself) but will lend help, aid and assistance to many another.
15. Then, in making the physical corrections, we would apply these:
16. First we would begin with having the adjustments and relaxations, twice or three times a week, through the coccyx, the 4th lumbar, the 12th dorsal; osteopathically (rather the Dobbins' method); coordinating the solar plexus, the brachial plexus, the cardiac plexus, and the hypogastric
1039-1 Page 3
and pneumogastric area, WITH the corrections as made.
17. Continue with these twice to three times a week for three weeks. Then rest from same for a week to two weeks; then have another round of the same.
18. About once or twice a week, or when there is the pain or the acute condition in the lower portion of the kidney and the sacral area, we would massage the body with a compound prepared in this manner:
19. Equal parts of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine, Spirits of Camphor, Compound Tincture of Benzoin.
20. These, of course, we would add in the order given; but heat the Mutton Suet or Tallow to a liquid and then add the others in the order given.
21. Only massage into the sacral and lumbar and lower dorsal area what the body absorbs. Then spread or cover same with a flannel, and apply dry heat.
22. The absorption of those properties by the body through the tissue will not only aid in the abilities of the osteopathic manipulator to relax those centers, those areas where the lesions affect the body, but will bring for the lower locomotary centers and along the sciatic and through the limbs the relief of those tautnesses that occasionally appear.
23. As to the activities physically, mentally - the diets we would not alter a great from what has been indicated or suggested for the body-building.
24. Occasionally we would add the effluvia of the BLONDE Psyllium seed, to produce weight through the activity of the alimentary canal WITHOUT making for roughage in same. The blonde is preferable. This taken occasionally produces weight in the alimentary canal, and an activity that is helpful toward the eliminations.
25. Ready for questions.
26. (Q) What is the condition of the lungs? (A) As indicated, while showing an effect of the general impoverishment of the blood supply, these in the present - through the exercise and through precautions - present a very GOOD resistance, and better ability for clarification through the oxygen and the area covered than HAS been heretofore. As to the DIGESTIVE forces, the natural tendencies - from the lesion - are to produce the lack of the proper activity of the peristaltic forces of the intestinal tract, through the lack of the effluvia activity which increases same. Hence the use of those properties indicated would be the better influences for same in the present.
1039-1 Page 4
The manipulative forces given osteopathically, and the massage with the oils, will aid much in eliminating these conditions.
27. (Q) What is the condition of the intestines? (A) As indicated, there are formations that arise from the lack of the lymph flow; or dryness that occurs, from the lack of flow of the lymph. This will become stimulated through those applications given. And, as we find, we would be consistent and persistent. Two to three weeks, and a rest period, and then again we would have in the same areas those applications that would make for that correction that would allow the body-forces, NATURE, to have the chance to create within the body. For all conditions are THERE. Making or having them coordinate is that necessary in bringing about normal forces in the body. Do that.
28. (Q) What causes the pain the runs down the leg from the back? (A) This is from the lesion, as indicated. This makes for a tautness of the locomotary center; along the sciatic nerve does the influence or the tingling go. Such effects will be relieved first by the applications for the lessening of the tautness, and gradually by the relaxation in the osteopathic adjustments as given will soon disappear. Because these do not recur after the first two or three weeks of treatment, don't stop! Have another round, at least; that not only the pain as a palliative is relieved but that the causes are removed! And we will find the whole body building back to much greater resistance.
29. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See letter [which was enclosed] with directions to Osteopath. The Psyllium is made by the Psyllium Co., Towson, Md., but I believe you can get it from most any drug store. Be sure to specify the BLONDE variety. Please let us keep in touch with you. The ingredients for the massaging may be bought separately and added by self, in the order named. If everything is not clear, let us know. GD.)
