Time of Reading 12:00 to 12:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Michigan. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1067], present in this room.

2. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions to the better physical forces of the body.

3. These in the present we find are rather of a complex nature, dealing with causes of disturbances in the equilibriums of the assimilating system; also the effects of the poor eliminations that are caused by the excess drosses not dissolved - from the improper balance in the chemical forces in the body itself.

4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1067] we are speaking of, present in this room:

5. First, in the BLOOD SUPPLY:

6. Here we find the effect of much of those conditions that are the disturbing influences in the body, as well as the indications of the CAUSES of these disturbances in the activities of the system itself.

7. There are those effects in the blood, then, of elements that form along portions of the muscular forces the sediments - as it were - that produce a tautness in the muscular forces; especially in those areas where there have been weaknesses, produced by a strain in the muscular forces about the lumbar plexus and, more specific and more active at times, about the 8th and 9th and 10th and 11th dorsal.

8. For these contractions have made for miseries or excruciating pains that have affected the muscles and tendons along this portion of the system; extending at times to the lower lumbar, through the sacral and even to the lower extremities, giving the appearance at times as if these were detached - as it were - mostly from the body itself.

9. The effects of APPLICATIONS that have been made, through properties that have been given into the system, have produced a DIFFERENT effect in the various forms or

1067-1 Page 2

conditions in the blood supply itself.

10. Thus the assimilating system and the eliminations throughout the body as related to drainages from various portions of the system are affected; until at times these distresses reach those proportions where the whole exterior portion of the superficial circulation is affected. Or, we might say, through the body itself there are those effects as of a separation, or as of an itching or irritation in various portions; extending even ABOVE the areas where the conditions have arisen originally, or do arise.

11. These affect the activity of the organs of the body. And, as we find, the applications in the main have been palliatives rather than curatives, and in some instances have worked for a detriment to the better physical force; for they involve the respiratory system at times.

12. Thus, naturally, if continued, would sooner or later affect the heart's activity. For this has become engorged by this very overstimulation in the circulation.

13. In the NERVE FORCES of the body:

14. In the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nerve systems we have those areas where there is specific connection along the cerebrospinal, or MORE of a connection between the sympathetic or vegetative nerve force and the cerebrospinal. The first injury or strain that occurred, or that caused this slowing up, appeared in the 8th and 9th dorsal center, or across the small of the back - or just below those areas there. And this is in a plexus where there is a great association between the activities of the sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems. Hence these become affected by the lack of the eliminations, causing the tendency - in a measure - towards not only the neuritic but arthritic effect upon the segments and the muscular forces of the body itself in the area.

15. These, then, that are indicated in the nerve system are not TRUE conditions; but rather of the superficial nature, PRODUCED by the applications that have been made as palliatives rather than curatives - or rather than reaching the base or the seat of the trouble itself.

16. In the functioning of the ORGANS THEMSELVES:

17. Brain forces are very good. Their reactions throughout the whole of the system itself are almost in perfect coordination, until there are those periods when - through changes in the assimilated forces of the body - these arise. And then we have periods of such dis-ease and distress as to make for very poor reaction; or the inability, as it were, from the stress upon the sympathetic nerve system, for the body to contain or to control its emotions - or the

1067-1 Page 3

reactions from the emotions of the body itself.

18. Through the organs of the sensory forces - as through the eyes, through the ears, through the nasal passages at times - there ARE those conditions that become as burning sensations, from the lack of the proper circulation through the distressed areas in the system itself.

19. Bronchi, throat, lungs and larynx also at TIMES are indicated as being sympathetic to the distresses of the system itself; though organically these are very good.

20. Heart's activity, as indicated, has become partially involved; though rather from the sympathetic reaction - because of sedative applications and those that have affected the deeper circulation of the body, or the circulation between the heart, the lungs, the liver. Increasing the circulation here, without removing the causes, tends to make for a plethora condition or an engorgement in ALL these organs. However, if the causes are removed - and the effects of these applications in the system - we would find normalcy, or near to normalcy, would be the gradual occurrence or reaction from same.

21. In the digestive system, as indicated, the liver becoming somewhat engorged - naturally has brought about disorders occasionally for the digestion. Hence we have at times rather a SYMPATHETIC or a nervous indigestion, or nervous digestion - that becomes not as the cause, but rather as the EFFECT of distresses. That is, we have the effect in the body that apparently the appetite is very good, but oft does the body find that a little food suddenly FILLS the stomach - as it were. At others there is the overdesire of eating, and the activities for the eliminations become as gas-forming - or an acidity occurs through the system. Thus there is produced a slowing of the activity through the alimentary canal, and through the activities of the organs of the eliminations.

22. These are rather sympathetic conditions and not causes; rather the effects. But unless changes are made these must become involved sooner or later in such degrees that not only the FUNCTIONINGS of such organs become involved but the organs' activities themselves! Thus there would be produced greater and greater complications.

23. As to the effects upon the lover portion of the hepatic circulation: The kidneys are in those areas in which the body has suffered, through the gradual accumulations of drosses there that have not been eliminated. At TIMES these BECOME involved in the condition, producing in the activity of the kidneys themselves a burning sensation from the excess of not only albumin at times but the urea that arises

1067-1 Page 4

from the uremic reaction in the system; in the body's attempting to ELIMINATE, or to carry off those poisons that arise from the distressed conditions. But these are not causes, rather effects - rather than being organically involved.

24. Then, as we find, in meeting the needs of the conditions for this body:

25. First we must consider not only the effects and the causes, but make those applications of such a nature as to cause a DISSOLVING - as it were - of those sediments, of those congested areas where the reactions of these upon the system at periods cause such great distress. Also there must be considered - in the application - as to how these may be set up as to drainages, and as to produce eliminations; yet allowing the body to carry on, as it were, in its activities.

26. Hence precautionary measures must be taken as well as specific applications that will aid in bringing about the relief to the body - which, as we find, may be had by the applications of these measures for the body:

27. First, then, at least three or four times a week, for two or three weeks, when the body is ready for retirement, bathe or massage across the area from just below the shoulder blades to the portion of the hips - or the sacral plexus itself - with equal portions of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Camphor, Spirits of Turpentine. Heat the Mutton Suet and add the others in the order named - equal parts of each. Heat the solution each time, and then massage.

28. Then, over the same area that has been massaged, apply the hot Epsom Salts Packs. These should be changed at least two or three times during each evening they are applied.

29. These will not only relieve the congestion, but GRADUALLY set up the greater eliminations through the system - in the activity of the circulation internally (or the deeper) and superficially (or outer).

30. After the third or fourth of such oil massages and packs have been used; that is, after about a week, we would begin with enemas that will remove those tendencies for accumulations through these congestions throughout the colon; allowing the drainages to be set up more in the whole of the eliminating system. Such high enemas would be taken a week apart, or at other times (later) two weeks apart.

31. We would begin also with the taking occasionally the Alcaroid; not every day, but whenever there is felt after meals a fullness in the stomach - or those tendencies for a dizziness to occur at times after eating. The dosage would be a quarter teaspoonful, first dissolved in a small amount

1067-1 Page 5

of water and then more water added. This will make for the better formation of the gastric flow, and thus cause a greater activity through the eliminations of the kidneys - as well as those tendencies for the system to ABSORB poisons FOR eliminations.

32. Also occasionally (but not at the same periods or days when the Alcaroid is taken) we would take small quantities of Milk of Bismuth and Elixir of Lactated Pepsin. Two to three times a week these may be taken, after meals. Stir half a teaspoonful of the Milk of Bismuth in half a glass of water, very thoroughly; and when it is well dissolved, then add six to eight drops of Elixir or Essence of Lactated Pepsin. These form digestive forces, and again change the activities of the liver, the pancreas, the spleen, in the form of secretions. For they will gradually draw from the system, through absorption, the poisons that are to be eliminated by the high enemas - when used to CLEANSE the system itself.

33. After two or three of the high enemas have been given; that is, after the second or third week, when there is the tendency for a greater ability for relaxation as the body attempts to rest, then begin with the deep osteopathic manipulations AND adjustments. The adjustments are to be specifically in the coccyx end of the spinal centers, in the 4th LUMBAR and in the 9th dorsal. To be sure, the other portions of the centers where the cerebrospinal and sympathetic assist in setting up drainages, are to be coordinated with same at such treatments. Twice a week should be sufficient.

34. Be consistent and be patient. But if the body will apply these, we will find that - within six to ten weeks - the disturbing conditions should be ENTIRELY eliminated.

35. In the matter of the diets, during all of these applications:

36. Keep away from red meats, or great quantities of starch taken at ANY given meal. However, the carbohydrates may be balanced occasionally, in moderation, with the proteins and the vegetables; but beware of RED meat and great quantities of starch.

37. Do these, and we will bring for this body very near to normal conditions.

38. Ready for questions.

39. (Q) What will relieve hay fever? (A) When we relieve those distresses in the portions of the body as indicated, from which the mucous membranes of the sympathetic nerve system become involved, we will find much of the hay fever effect will be dispelled or dissipated; or

1067-1 Page 6

the conditions that cause such reactions for the body to become supersensitive to dust, pollen, or certain atmospheric pressures at periods.

40. (Q) Nervousness. (A) As indicated. Follow these suggestions. Be consistent, be patient; and know that not only the effects but the causes of these disturbing conditions are being eliminated. And the body will find relief, and the outlook upon life will be such that the opportunities for self-expression will be greater, and the opportunities to be not only good but good for something.

41. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (11/26/35 GD's note to [1067]: Suggested chart or outline for treatments; in the order they are to come: For the first week - three or four times during the week - use the Oil Rub followed by the Epsom Salts Packs. The ingredients for the rub may be purchased separately and then added - in the order named - when ready to use. Or about a tablespoonful of each may be prepared at once, heated, and massaged from between the shoulders to the end of the spine - and across the hips. When the body has absorbed as much of the solution as possible by the massaging, then add the Epsom Salts Packs - prepared as indicated on the slip [which was enclosed] giving directions. The packs may be repeated two or three times each treatment, until the body is thoroughly relaxed. At the beginning of the next week, add the high enema - and take one each week for three to four weeks, then one every two weeks for a while. Such high enemas may be obtained from any good hydrotherapist, or naturopathic physician; or you may have a nurse come into the home to give these. If the latter, we would refer you to a Miss Kimball - whose address Mr. [619] can give you. See letter [which was enclosed] with directions to the nurse or hydrotherapist who would give such colonic irrigations. The Alcaroid may be begun immediately, or whenever needed - as indicated. Also the Milk of Bismuth and the Pepsin as directed.

1067-1 Page 7

After two or three weeks of following the above, then begin with the osteopathic treatments - as per letter [which was enclosed] with directions to osteopath. Observe the diet indicated, throughout the period of these treatments. If everything is not clear, let us know - and keep us in touch with how you progress.)
