This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of January, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1089], Active Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

P R E S E N T

R E A D I N G

Born June 12, 1915, in Hopkinsville, Ky. Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Hopkinsville, Ky. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity now known as or called [1089], and those relations with the universe and universal forces; that are latent and manifested in the personalities of that entity now known as [1089].

2. In giving that which may be helpful to this entity, that may be the less confusion - for, while confusions arise from many tenets, many angles, in the experience of the entity:

3. Know that no influence surpasses the WILL of the entity. Make that will, then, one with that which is the entity's ideal.

4. Hence first, in every experience choose that which is to be the ideal; whether in the material world, the mental world, the spiritual world. For while one builds upon the other, and they become one in manifestation, there must be held that which is the standard, the criterion, the example to which one (or each) would attain.

5. Know that within self, when kept in accord with Creative Forces - or right, justice, mercy, judgement, peace, hope, faith, love, there be ALL that may be necessary for reaching, attaining, accomplishing that whereunto thou has SET THINE ideal!

6. For in the entrance into the earth's plane, each soul comes as a choice - yes, of self; that is made by the ideal and purpose of those channels through which such a body may be brought into material manifestations.

7. Hence those injunctions that have been set, that each - as it comes to that consciousness, that awareness of its own dependence, of its own abilities for choice - must present its body holy, acceptable unto Him that IS the Giver of ALL good and perfect gifts.

8. It is not then of SELF, but self making for such activities in any given experience, that the glory of the Lord may be made more manifest through the dealings of self

to its fellow man.

9. Each soul enters in each experience for a lesson, a development.

10. Much in abilities, much in promise, much in accomplishments, then, lie ahead for this entity. Not only through that the entity HAS accomplished, but for the failures and for the progress made; that there may be more and more of the perfect way shown.

11. Who, what, is the way?

12. In Him ONLY is the way, the water of life, the bright and morning star, the rose of Sharon; the GLORIOUS, the mighty, the HOLY One!

13. As to those influences that are the material signs and omens of that which has been accomplished in the activities of this entity through those astrological sojourns (so called) about the earth, we find:

14. In Saturn we find that influence of an ever changing nature, of a seeking, of a RENEWING, of making starts. And this must be tempered, ever, with that which answers from WITHIN; that the choice made, the chosen path, the way in which that sought must be accomplished, is IN keeping with that IDEAL that is held, is set before self.

15. The Jupiterian forces become quite at variance at times to the influence from the sojourn in Saturn. And only when these planets are in a benevolent influence to the earth (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus - as in the co-relations of Venus) may there be that period when there is rest of ITSELF; though he that seeks rest, in the abilities of self, in the peace of self, only makes for later confusions. For only in that which IS peace, which is rest, may there be indeed TRUE rest; and THIS may be found - WHEN sought - under ANY circumstance, ANY environ. But from the material angle, as we find, these (peace and rest) will come to THIS entity in '40; 1940, '41, when there will have been (or may have been) those decisions and preparations such that the entity, having fulfilled that necessary to answer the call in self, may enter into the joys of service in such measures that there may come - THROUGH the very activities of self - a greater manifestation of those things, those experiences, those applications of, "Lo, I am with thee always, even unto the end of the world." And Jupiter makes for the associations that must be among many peoples, peoples, mental abilities, groups and masses; rather than with things that influence peoples.

16. In Uranus we find that indicating the confusions, at times; by the very inabilities for the entity, under its environs in the present, to COORDINATE the EXTREMES that

arise in its experience. Yet those influences that are innate and manifested in the abilities of the entity arise much from that sojourn. And by that period indicated (as time is counted) will come either the desisting of its abilities or the completion of its purification, that the justification of its activities may become more and more a reflection of the glory of the choice in the abilities of the entity to make manifest in the earth.

17. From Venus we find both conflicting influences and those of friendships and associations that will bring closer relationships. But these, too, may become as stumbling-blocks to the understanding lest they be made not for self-glorification, for self-indulgence, for self-exaltation, but rather used in the manner that He gave; that the glory of God may be manifested in and THROUGH those relationships, those friendships.

18. THESE be the signs that are indicated through the sojourn of the entity in the influences about the earth.

19. As to the appearances in the earth, we find there have been many that have little influence; yet there are many that bear upon not only THE MATERIAL ABILITIES but upon those things that go to make up the environmental and hereditary influences in the experience of the entity in the present.

20. Before this, then, (that bears upon the present) we find the entity was in the French land. And French would be easy for the entity to attain an understanding of; and a conversational French VERY easy!

21. In the name then of Felicia Daudet, the entity was an editor, a writer; yet dabbled, as it were, in many of those activities during the periods of the first of the Louises - or the XII, XIII, XIV. During a portion of its experience the entity dealt in leathers, or in saddle making; as it also wrote, and made for political influences. Then there became the first of its artistic development in cartooning, and in the abilities to depict by placard or by the drawings those things or activities as to the political forces, as well as in the varied activities.

22. Hence we find from those experiences a conflicting influence in the present; as the interest in art, interest in writing, interest in shoes, interest in feet and their influence upon the bodies whom they would draw. For in the dreams of the entity there has been depicted as to how the feet may lead an entity, a body, astray; with the mind in one direction and the feet in another.

23. These are as experiences from the entity's application of self in many directions, and become - as seen, not only

from the MATERIAL but from the astrological sojourn - as drawing or conflicting or working with, dependent upon the setting together of the pattern in the entity's application of the urges created by those activities in same.

24. Also the interests that arise from the associations or the relationships or experiences regarding sex come from those conditions that were attempted to be depicted by the entity in its drawings, in its cartooning, in its making for an elaboration upon same.

25. These still (the cartoonings, drawings) may be found in the archives that have preserved much of that which dealt especially with Louis XIV, and XIII.

26. In the application of that experience in the present, know that thou gainest little in the condemning of that in thine fellow man of which ye were INWARDLY guilty.

27. Condemn not, then, that ye be not condemned. For indeed with what measure ye mete it will be measured to thee again. And that thou condemnest in another (yea, every man - every woman), that thou becomest in thine self!

28. Before that we find the entity was in that experience when the Master walked in the earth, and was among those who were drawn to the Master - not only through the teachings but through the necessities from the material persecutions during those days when there were the interpretations of the material laws as controlled by the proletariat and the Roman and the Jewish and the Parthenian and the Scythian.

29. The entity then was among the disciples that walked with Him, and yet NOT of the chosen twelve - but among those that labored with Peter, Andrew, John and James; for the entity then was the father, Zebedee [See GD's note re Zebedee, 1089-3, Par. R2], that made for the encouragements to the young - and gave of self, gave of those activities, yet keeping self partially aloof.

30. Yet when there came the periods that there was the dispersing of the disciples, the twelve, the seventy, to THIS entity many, many came oft for counsel and to reason with, and to talk with as concerning manners and means and ways, and as to whether this indeed be the TRUE prophet, the true teacher.

31. For Zebedee first was a follower of John, then of those that had separated themselves from the Jewish Sanhedrin, the Jewish law, and of the head of the Essenes in those studies to which BOTH John the Baptist and the Master came first as teachers, and as instructors.

32. The entity gained through the experience, yet reserving the body, reserving the self oft when there might have been the greater understanding. Yet there arises now, within,

the abilities to which the entity may attain in the present; of becoming a channel to all those that seek the counsel of Him who became the Son of man; yea, the son of Mary, becoming the Son of God!

33. In these manners, then, may the entity in the present become of the greater service; the greater master of self first, then - as thou hast received - GIVE unto thy fellow man.

34. Remember ever the admonition that the Master gave, "Feed my sheep. Feed my lambs."

35. Thus there may come not only to self the joy and happiness, the peace and understanding, but ye may INDEED know whereunto thou hast been called.

36. How - ye ask - may the preparation be in the present?

37. Study to show thyself approved unto that IDEAL, rightly divining the words of truth. For remember HE is the Word; He IS that which may not be divided - but DIVINED in each word that makes for the correlating, the coordinating, the understanding of those motivative forces of thy activities in the earth.

38. MEDITATE, oft. Separate thyself for a season from the cares of the world. Get close to nature and LEARN from the lowliest of that which manifests in nature, in the earth; in the birds, in the trees, in the grass, in the flowers, in the bees; that the life of each is a manifesting, is a song of glory to its Maker. And do thou LIKEWISE!

39. Make thy HEART, thy MIND, thy BODY, ONE with Him; and ye MAY - by the laying on of hands, by the counselling with those that be weak in body, disturbed in the mind - be a channel through which the message of the MASTER may come!

40. Before that, then, we find the entity was in that land now known as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were those turmoils, those strifes with the natives, the peoples that were entering again, when the return of the Priest had been accomplished and these were being called.

41. The entity then was among the natives who had been given help, aid; and was drawn, as it were, from the strife, by the young King to make the drawings - materially - for not only the graineries, the temples, or the various plaques for the buildings about, but the drawings for the carvings of stones. THESE were the activities of the entity during his sojourn there.

42. When these came into those applications in the buildings of the temples, the entity began then to be in the greater associations with the Priest, or Ra-Ta. And the activities brought to the entity both good and bad; or turmoils, and later that which brought the greater development during that

sojourn.

43. In the name then Abar-Ahtar, the entity applied or gained that which if applied in the present may aid the entity in the applications of those that become as the truths to all, the LESSONS to all, the manners in which the entity may make for self its greater attainments. Or its abilities to meet the various needs for the gaining of the material things for its daily sustenance, or its drawings. Not as an architect, but rather a combining of the commercial arts that may lie BETWEEN the cartoonist and the drawings representing the varied activities of groups.

44. If the entity applies self in this direction, it may from the material way gain a place for itself. But hold fast to that thou didst gain in Zebedee. KNOW the way. Bring into being those abilities, which thou hast not lost but that thou hast laid aside until they have become as musty, as dust upon the mirror of life.

45. Ready for questions.

46. (Q) What is the basis and cause of my attitude toward [...]? [Young man writer friend] (A) We haven't [...]!

47. (Q) In just what type of life work can I find the opportunity for the greatest possible soul development? (A) In first attaining to that whereunto thou may in the material life apply thine own soul development for the HEALING of thy brethren, in the encouraging of those discouraged and disconsolate; in making for self a channel through which the glories of a risen Lord may be made conscious in the minds and hearts of those thou may meet day by day. In the preparation of self, as given, in the painting of signs, or cartooning; not as comic strips, but as educational strips. These may be a channel for material labors, if chosen. But choose RATHER the better way!

48. (Q) Just how can I gain a better or greater understanding and control of my peculiar attitude towards various individuals? (A) Look into self, and those eccentricities of thine own activity; and these may be studied better by studying nature, by studying the soil, the product of same, the varied activities as in things growing, as in the birds and the bees, as in the flowers, as in the trees, as in those things that live or act about thee. Keep ALONE for periods at a time. Let thyself make a study of these. And let much of the time be spent in meditation and prayer. Read (not until they become as rote, but as living words) the last

words, the last message as He gave, as thy Master gave, "In my father's house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a way, that where I am there ye may be also. And I pray not for these alone, but for those that may THROUGH these know of Thee." Thou art one of those. Thou didst act in that capacity. Thou didst give thy sons, thou didst give thy help, thou didst give of thyself. Then, keep thee not back NOW!
