This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of January, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1091], Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., via his niece, Mrs. [601].

1. EC: Yes. We have the body here.
2. Now, as we find, there are disturbances in the physical forces of this body, [1091]. There is rather a complication of disturbances. And in the activities of the physical force there have been and are the attempts of the mental and physical self to meet the emergencies that have arisen, and that do arise, in the general functioning of the body.
3. At times, owing to the varied disturbances that arise, in the varied conditions that are being attempted to be taken care of in the physical functioning, we have the varied effects produced in the body.
4. At one time we may find the nerve forces become affected, that become disturbed in the lower portion - or the locomotories of the body in the lower portion - by superacidity.
5. Another time we will find the effect of the superacidity is to produce congestion and cold, that may affect the muscular forces across the back, in the lower lumbar area. Also the kidneys and the organs of elimination may become involved.
6. At other times we will find that the distress, through acidity or super-alkalinity, may make for disturbances in the digestive forces. So, with the hindrances that exist in the system's attempting to care for same in the mucous membranes and the tissue and the structural portion itself of face or head, the antrum and the nose and those portions of the face give a great deal of disturbance and distress.
7. This will depend upon the atmospheric pressure. This depends upon the astrological pressures that affect the body in a mental and material way. And then the conditions surrounding the body, as the material anxieties or the activities in the marital relations, may bring about distresses that will sympathetically affect ANY or ALL of these conditions; as has been indicated in portions of the body-functioning itself.
1091-1 Page 2
8. Hence we will find, in taking all of these conditions into consideration, it becomes necessary that all effects, all disturbances as well as effects, become a part of the consideration as would be given.
9. And, in bringing about helpful aid to one portion of the system, under certain distresses, we would find there would become anxieties in other portions; so that, apparently, for a time there would be a greater distress in some other way or manner.
10. But, if there is the consistent and persistent application of those things that we find would make the necessary corrections in the physical functionings of the body of [1091], we find that these may be materially aided. And not only may the hormones of the life-giving flow itself be increased as to make for a greater activity throughout the system, giving greater vitality, but the body would be able to put on greater resistances in the physical force. Thus there would be supplied a physical and mental capacity for greater reactions in whatever may be the choice of the mental and material body for its functioning.
11. The blood supplies of the system, as indicated, have quite varying conditions; in that there are various periods of these distresses, or the various characters of distortion in the physical function.
12. While the body recuperates at times very quickly, at others there is constantly being left a little dross here, a little dross there, in the distressed portions - or an excess of the conditions that become as hindrances; making for a tightness, as it were, on the muscular forces as in the lower extremities, as indicated by the very nature in which the ligaments and the tendons in the feet give, too, the distresses - in the muscular forces of the calf of the leg, or under the knee, or along the whole of the sciatic area. Each of these distresses, we find, is in a portion where there has been left the poisons because of the poor eliminations through the drainages from the circulatory forces from the lower portion of the body; owing to pressures and slowing of circulation ofttimes through the lower extremities. The more and more that these make for these disturbances, more and more is there caused the heaviness upon the activities about the organs of elimination - as related to the activities in the kidneys and the whole of the hepatic circulation. For the more that the toxic forces are thrown upon those portions of elimination, the more do the organs force from that assimilated the necessary influence for the activity through the body.
1091-1 Page 3
13. Hence we may find, unless corrections are made, there may come about a partial paralysis - EVENTUALLY. This might be years, it might be soon, dependent upon the congestion - or the various forms of bacilli that might be effective or active upon the system in a weakened period, or weakened condition.
14. Or we may have the same effect upon the soft tissue of the face or the neck, or even the larynx or the lungs themselves. For these weaknesses, these tendencies, of course, tend to make for a greater aggravation in various portions of the system.
15. While, as we find, if there would be not just a little period but a period of consistent, persistent application in the corrections directly for the various disturbances in the body, we may build - as indicated - quite a resistance; and give or EXTEND the periods of activity for this body for many, many moons.
16. Then, in making applications for corrections, all portions of the system must be considered - as indicated:
17. First we would begin with periods of setting up drainages through the lumbar and the dorsal areas more specifically, osteopathically. These periods would be two to three weeks, with the applications about twice a week; then a rest period from same for almost an equal period; then again. The corrections should be more specific, as indicated, in the lumbar, coccyx, dorsal and upper cervical areas of radial vibration, and then the other portions coordinated. To be sure, some treatments would be at times of a GENERAL nature for the coordination of all centers. And in making the corrections, extend the treatments to the feet more specifically, to the arms and to the hands.
18. During the whole period that the osteopathic treatments are being made or given, we would also - just before retiring at night - use the low electrical vibration from the plain violet ray (hand machine, bulb applicator). This would only be used every OTHER day, or evening, for three to five minutes, up and down the spine, over the face, over the frontal portion of the body. To apply it ALL OVER the body, from the tip of the toes to the top of the head, would be well for the body! but this should be applied directly to the skin itself. Keep the anode or the applicator clean.
19. As to the conditions in the face or in the nasal passages, we find there are obstructions. These, as we find, may be materially aided by the general osteopathic treatments and manipulations. But, for the FULL correction, the condition has GROWN to such an extent that the operative measures would be the more preferable - for the REMOVING of
1091-1 Page 4
those obstructions; that there might be the more perfect taking in of the breath, or intake in the breathing. And this will not only aid in relieving those stresses in the face, but it will aid in making for less of the soreness that comes at times to the throat - or the drippings, as may be said, from portions of the system not absorbing the circulatory forces and the lymph that passes through portions. This would overcome in part, too, some tendencies for the superacidity that arises in the system - from the drainages that are often taken into the esophagus and to portions of the digestive forces. These conditions may be materially aided, to be sure, by the adherence to an equally balanced diet - but tending towards the alkalin-reaction rather than the acid diet. Or, beware of too great a quantity of starch and of carbohydrates being taken AT THE SAME meal.
20. These adhered to, we would find we would bring the greater, the better physical forces for this body of [1091].
21. Ready for questions.
22. (Q) When would be the best time for the nose operation? (A) After there has been a setting up of the circulatory forces through manipulative measures.
23. (Q) What causes the drawing in the calves of the legs? (A) As indicated. Do these things as we have given, and - as we find - we would bring the better forces for this body.
24. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See letter [which was enclosed] to Osteopath; also Alkalin-Reacting Diet list [which was enclosed].)
