This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of May, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1151], Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

R E A D I N G

1. GC: You will have before you [1151], born Feb. 12, 1889, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the information given for this entity on April 22, 1936. You will continue this information for him, giving such data at this time as will be most helpful to him. Answer questions that may be asked.

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here, and the information which has been given through these channels.

3. In interpreting that as is the experience of the entity in the present, and those experiences through the activity during the periods of the sojourn in the Palestine and Roman experience, we find these are in accord with or nearer to repeating themselves in the experience and activity of the entity in the present sojourn. For the environs under which the entity was activating then and those experiences through which there may be actions in the present, are of a period in the experiences of many that THEN sojourned in the earth and are active in the affairs of a nation, a people. And it is an experience in the present that may be shaped, as then, by the very activities of the entity, as the entity shaped those then.

4. For through whose activity came those requirements by those in authority in the experience that Pilate must make a personal report of what took place in that period when a prophet - yea, more than a prophet - was condemned, when one that - by the very voice of many - was known to be of unsavory repute was loosed again in the earth?

5. And these are again making for an activity in which the entity may through its associations become one who may call many of those who gave voice for that happening in that experience.

6. For as the representative of the government, the entity then was acting in the capacity of one who was NOT one that looked upon the abilities of groups, of individuals, as a spy, but rather as an analyst of their relationship under a

divided spiritual guidance for not only their patriotism - as would be termed today - to the Roman land but as one that looked to the interests of the PEOPLE. Not as one that considered only those in authority, of high estate, but rather as man to man were the real purposes of the Roman rule in those experiences; and that they were to be carried not to the extremes but as considered by those in power, in position, these made for the activity of the entity as one in authority higher than the local government or the protectorate, or any other influence. And these then were the background as shown by the entity's report to Caesar:

7. Those activities of Herod, that was as the local representative of the peoples in their religious thought, their religious intent, their religious CLAIM as may be said.

8. Then the authority as given to the protectorate, or proletariat - as would be termed; for the civil government, law, order. And that condition which existed BETWEEN the two, as the entity set in motion; that not only was tribute collected by the Roman citizenry but rather was there to be kept, to be created, to be made, the more perfect understanding - not ONLY of the protectorate as to their religious forces but also as to their political forces and influence. And yet these built many experiences that made for the condemning of same because of the differences that arose in the powers that were altered much in their operative forces.

9. These were the conditions when this man, this prophet, this master, was presented to those in authority for civil consideration; CLAIMING by the ones in authority that there had been a neglect to pay tribute, or that there had been first that attempt upon the part of those that were as the followers of same to prevent the tax, the levies to be paid. THIS was the manner of presentation rather than much of that as ye have recorded even in Holy Writ.

10. In these conditions did the entity come under this influence of Peace, the Prince of Peace, the teachings of the Nazarene. Not as one ever that acted in those capacities of the service to the people, to the nation, to the world, as one in a passive manner; but rather ever as the POSITIVE, as the active influence in the experiences of those that came under the visions, the experiences of the Man AS a teacher, as a healer. These were the conditions the entity then saw.

11. These are the conditions or the shadows of same, or those that present themselves as conditions in the affairs, in the experiences of man in this land in the present. Yea,

there is a form of religious freedom; yea, there is an application in part of that moral duty, of that economic duty to those influences and forces that are to guide a nation, a peoples; by that which has been handed down from those that in faith to their Maker, in their belief in their fellow man, established a FREEDOM of speech, a freedom of press, a freedom of worship of the Maker according to the dictates of their conscience.

12. And as the entity upheld these and all of their kindred influences and forces in that experience, in the land as a representative of the Roman land, so must he indeed as the soldier of the Cross, of the Lamb, of those Forces, represent HIS Master, HIS Lord, in the present.

13. For as given, hath he not been called? Hath he not seen Him entering there and giving that command, "Ye must stand in my and thy brothers' stead, for as they do it unto thy brethren they do it unto me."

14. In those experiences also, there came the time when there was the report to be made by the entity upon those happenings there upon the hill of shame, upon the cross - yet of glory. There was the command that there be a report of the civil ruler, Pilate, before the emperor, the physical king.

15. The entity then may be said to have been the influence, even greater than the apostle Paul, in bringing to the Roman conscience a correct report of what happened in Jerusalem; yea, in Galilee and Samaria.

16. For those that made for that accounting for what happened brought to the peoples a PHYSICAL activity, yet - as known of those who seek to know His ways - not of self but rather an appointment, a judgement, a CALLMENT of the Father.

17. Hence the entity then in those activities at this period in the history of his own land stands as in the balance for those influences and forces that will bring to fore, to judgement, the conditions that exist in this his native land today.

18. In these experiences oft, the more oft, yea again and again, call ye then upon that promise, upon that influence which has prompted from within; that ye be guided aright, that ye be led by Him even as the Prince of Peace. For the burdens of those that would again crucify the truths of Him that IS the Prince of Peace have been delivered, as it were, to a peoples - and makes again slaves of those that would come under the tyranny rather of the money changers and those that have let position, fame or fortune become their god rather than Him that guided those in the establishing of

the land.

19. This is thy message then:

20. Hold fast to that thou hast purposed in thine heart as to the dealings between those that are in authority and those that labor for their home, their loved ones, their friends; they that would be at peace with their fellow man, they that would know the ways of the Father among His children, rather than those that only seek for the satisfying, the gratifying of their own selfish motives, their own selfish minds. For again judgements are at hand.

21. Ready for questions.

22. (Q) Will it be necessary for me to take a leading part in politics in order to serve as my life's destiny seems to be? (A) As the experiences and activities then led the entity into the influence and the powers, the counsel and the directing of those in authority, let same be such in the present - in a political POSITION, yet rather one as a COUNSELLOR in the relationships between those in authority in their varied positions among the fellow man.

23. (Q) That does not mean then that I should aspire to or accept political preferment? (A) Rather remaining as the counsellor, rather remaining as one in the position of being among those upon the Board - or a counsellor about the Cabinet, about the Board of Council in the affairs of individuals, of groups, yea of the individuals and nations.

24. (Q) But not as President? (A) Rather as the advice and counsel to same, see?

25. (Q) Would my life indicate talent in respect to transportation and distribution of the products of nature? (A) This is a NATURAL, NATURAL, experience from the activities of the entity throughout the sojourns in the earth. For these have been not only in that experience as we are giving concerning now, but in the Persian, the considerations in the Egyptian experience. Yea, this is as a warp and woof of the very fibre of the entity's experience or being, that these are the principles - as has been given by others oft: He that labors not eateth not; he that is active is deserving of a voice in the counsel of the maker, the distributor, and the very activative forces. These then carry with same the consideration as of a nation, a group, an individual; those that make for the CREATING of the substance, the CREATING of the experiences of their distribution of same. Hence the entity's associations and connections with same,

even as in the religious, as in the civil, as in the state.

26. (Q) Did I travel along the road to Emmaus with the Master or did I meet Him at the end? (A) Traveled along the road.

27. (Q) Then I knew the Master and understood Him well? (A) Knew the Master; not understanding wholly, even as the conversation would indicate: "Hast thou heard the happenings of the day? Hast thou known the considerations upon or of this man, both from the religious and the economic standpoint, also the civil experiences of same?" And yet only in the breaking of the bread did the consciousness come of that He had said. Then it cannot be said that the entity fully understood Him, from the MATERIAL or PHYSICAL angle; yet the inner consciousness did understand - else HOW would there have been that call again, and again?

28. (Q) Was I condemned at that particular time in Rome for the report I made? (A) Not condemned by those that knew; condemned rather by those who became fearful of the change in the social order of the day - only in that; not by those in authority civilly, not by those in authority from the religious point of view, but rather the social.

29. (Q) Did I pass on naturally then in the body? (A) Passed on naturally, yet losing much in the strength through privations of self that there might be help to those condemned later. Do not confuse the condemning that arose in the years later with that character of condemning in the period of the entity's sojourn. For some sixty, some ninety years later the entity's activities became very much evilspoken of. Only in the latter days of those experiences some two hundred years later were they lauded or put in their proper place. Let His light, of love, of service, of mercy, of peace, of judgement, rest upon thee. Let His love so fire thy heart, they being, that He may say, 'Come, I will keep the faith with thee.'
