R E A D I N G
Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y. (Entity, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to his life and work. Ques.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the records here.
2. As conditions develop, more and more it may be comprehended by the material mind (if it is spiritual in concept) as to what was meant when the Keeper of the Records gave, "You have not finished yet." [See EC's experience 1151-1, Par. R2.]
3. In giving advice or counsel, from what has been given and intimated from and through the activities of the entity now called [1151] in the Roman and Palestine period:
4. As is seen and indicated, the effects of the activities were far-reaching in the Roman land, and in what ye term in the present as the Christian way of thinking.
5. Then, the activities and the desires were not that self might be exalted in any way or manner; not even KNOWN in the help, the aid given to those that were giving their all in the bringing to the minds and the hearts and the consciousnesses of men the teachings of the Nazarene.
6. Not that the entity THEN attempted to keep self as a blind, or was even fearful of what might be done or said by those in political authority - and as is seen by the activities among those in power, even with the changes wrought by the very nature of the changing of the Caesars during that experience.
7. And with all of the varying forces that may well be signified in those conditions that in the activities of the entity in the present are indicated in political powers, or political followings, the entity remained true to the ideals, the principles from within.
8. And as that period in the experience is the outstanding, and a parallel to the work, the efforts of the entity in the present - THIS - THIS must be the criterion for the entity in the dealings with the problems in its efforts in the present that have to do with its fellow man; that:
9. There must be the ANSWER WITHIN as to whether the choices
1151-12 Page 2
to be made are in keeping with that as thy Lord - in spirit, in mind, in soul - would have thee to do; in determining the time and the place, and the factors that have to do with the problems, the situations that are to be brought into the lives and the experiences of those whom the entity in the present would aid with their problems.
10. That consciousness of His presence, then, must be the real criterion of thy choices that ye make day by day.
11. For how hath He promised? "If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments."
12. What does this mean? for He has said, "My commandments are not grievous, nor my burdens hard to bear; but take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for my yoke is easy, my burden is light..." if ye abide in the Lord. For, "To him that loves me will I and the Father come, and we will abide with him; directing him in the choices made in his dealings with his fellow man day by day."
13. Then, indeed must these choices be from within.
14. For continuously, TODAY, is the acceptable time. If ye will hear His voice, He will guide, He will direct thee day by day.
15. Ready for questions.
16. (Q) What is the significance of the recent activities in which the entity, [1151] has been engaged in respect to bringing together Capital and Labor generally? (A) This is that same as may be paralleled with the experience of the entity in bringing the better understanding between the POLITICAL situations and the populace situation as related to those of the Roman experience. Or the practical application in the present is that ye may show forth in the activities of those in authority, that will consider each phase of the experience, the knowledge that while Labor is necessary to Capital - or while Capital is necessary to Labor, Labor is JUST as necessary to Capital! As might be said of the tenon and the key; as might be said of the many such illustrations; and that only when Capital considers Labor's position, and Labor considers Capital's position - and that they coordinate - may there be the good for all, in a manner commensurate with what is expended; in spirit, in truth, in particular. These then are the activities that are again being enacted as it were before and through the entity of that as He gave, "THIS is the whole law - Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, thy body, thy soul; thy NEIGHBOR as thyself."
1151-12 Page 3
This may be exemplified then when Capital and when Labor love one another as brethren. For indeed it is the same cry, "Thou ART thy brother's keeper!" Whether this is spoken of or to Capital or Labor it IS one and the same. THIS is the significance; that - as in common parlance - "the show is on!" Do thy duty in the relationships as one to another. Thou are the counsel, thou art the advisor. But keep the spirit of truth as the guiding factor IN the motivative forces of thy leaders, as near as possible.
17. (Q) The entity, [1151], would appreciate as much information regarding the procedure and possible pitfalls, as well as helpful advice. (A) Just as has been given, constantly held before each of the groups - whether Labor or Capital - that there must be that ideal permeating the desires and motivating the activities of each group. Keep these in the way and manner that is so near to the entity's heart. Not that disappointments do not arise, but again - and yet again - the entity may see and know, by keeping quiet within, that he is but the channel through which the spirit of brotherly love, the spirit of cooperation, the spirit of patience, the spirit of charity for all, the spirit of long-suffering may be manifested - in kindness, in gentleness, in quietness keeping those principles before the leaders in each group. And as these are kept, they may work as one with another. It, such, the spirit IS the foundation that made the empire of Rome powerful. Only did it begin to fade and its power begin to lessen when it became overburdened with the desire for self-aggrandizement, self-glorification, and forgot that it was its brother's keeper. So it is in this land of thine own in the present, that is builded upon that FREEDOM of speech, FREEDOM from those things that would make men afraid. But freedom means rather the individuals working in cooperation according to the dictates of their conscience as to the MANNER of worship, but the WORSHIP ITSELF of Truth, Life, Love, Brotherly Love and Kindness! And these are the basis of this land; and its union of
1151-12 Page 4
strength lies in KEEPING such as the motivative forces in the lives and hearts and minds of those as they labor one with another.
18. (Q) Is the time ripe for the entity, [1151] to request a suitable sum for compensation and expenses, and how is this best to be secured? (A) In the manner as has been indicated, that: As the entity has through its efforts preserved peace and harmony, thus far bringing to both sides a gain in the material affairs of all, it is then but just and right that there should be the recognition in the manner as termed by the Lord Himself, that "The laborer is worthy of the hire." Choose one of the company through which such commensurate relations are to be born (borne?), and let him present the needs. And this leaven the whole in such a way as to bring the proper, the correct relationships.
19. (Q) Is the entity, [1151], pursuing the course which will carry him to his greatest service? (A) This, as has just been given, must be answered within; for His Spirit beareth witness with thy spirit as to whether or not ye are keeping in that way. WE would judge, or we would give the purpose is right, the desires are in keeping with the God of love, the God of truth, the God of right and justice to all.
20. (Q) Is is wise for the entity, [1151] to inaugurate a wage deduction movement amongst railroad employees after the rate decision of the Interstate Commerce Commission is handed down? (A) Not until there has been an adjustment from the Interstate relations and some consideration given the railroads in that direction; then, to begin a campaign that the laborers are willing to cooperate with the railroads in keeping such in order that there may be not only an equitable income for the investor but proper consideration for the employees and in their being able to keep such for those DESERVING consideration at such times that the varied conditions arise in its affairs. Be well to consider such a movement WHEN this has been accomplished, and when there has been created in the soul and mind of the brotherhoods this proper way of activity. Not as an individual yet, of course, must be individual in its administration.
21. (Q) Would it be wise or necessary, considering prospective conditions in the national economy, for the
1151-12 Page 5
entity, [1151], to sell his home and substantially reduce his expenses? (A) If this is the desire of all that are in the position of being AFFECTED by such a change, then it is well; though this is not in the present a good period for such an activity. When there has begun to be the nearer NORMAL conditions in business relationships, this would be better. Hence as we find, this beginning in the months of April or May - and thus about July or August; unless other conditions intervene - would be the better period for such consideration - or even in the beginning of the next year.
22. (Q) Any other advice that will be of help at this time? (A) Much might be said, but if there is the looking within so much more may be received than could other than be referred to here. The Lord bless thee, the Lord keep thee in thy purposes, in thy desires. Faint not because of disagreements or disappointments. Sow the seed of Truth, as ye are directed by the God-force within; then have the patience to leave the increase to the Giver of all good and perfect gifts. Ye do not plant a seed and constantly scratch it up to see what has happened, but you do nourish it, you do water it, you do feed it in the way that is in keeping with the NATURE of that you are seeking to gain from same. You do not sow salt upon those things that need iron. You do not give iron to those that need soda. You do not give this, that or the other to those that need something else. But as He is the water of life, as He is the bread of life, so in all thy undertakings ye water, ye nourish, ye feed; and leave the results to thy God!
23. We are through for the present. [Mr. Cayce on waking, said "What a long, long way that was!"]
