Time of Reading 11:40 to 12:20 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
1. GC: You will have before you, in this room, the body and enquiring mind of [1151]. You will describe whether his mental and material decisions and procedures now being made are in accord with his best life's activity and his highest good. You will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1151]; together with those decisions as are being made in the experiences of the entity in the present.
3. In commenting upon same, there would be rather the reminder to the entity, as has been indicated, that the activities of the entity are correct in giving to those factors in the experience of human relationships - in the affairs of corporations, companies and organizations, with the factors and peoples in the development of same. Also there would be the reminder that there must be the honest consideration on the part of each factor as to its relationship, its dependence upon a cooperative influence that must EVER be the part of considerations in the maintaining of those activities under a rule of any government, any factor that has to do with the lives, the hearts, the minds of all considered.
4. Then, when there is the understanding drawn from those experiences of the entity in the activities throughout those periods when there was the determining within the creative forces of the entity as to the SOURCE, the impelling influence in the establishing of such relationships, it will be seen that the entity is again being put as it were to the test.
5. So live, then, in self; so think, so act that within thine own conscience thou art keeping faith with thy Lord, thy God.
6. Thus ye become more and more a factor, the channel through which His purposes may be carried out; with that as He gave - "Though heaven and earth may pass, my law - my
1151-18 Page 2
love - my promises - shall not pass, till every whit has been fulfilled!"
7. Keep, then, that purpose inviolate - and ye WILL succeed!
8. Ready for questions.
9. (Q) How will this entity's services be continued, with relation to a solution to the transportation problem? (A) As we find, as has been heretofore indicted, it will be more and more as one among an advisory council in the varied activities which arise under the varied circumstances respecting same.
10. (Q) Will the Security Owners Association continue my services? (A) Again, we find much of that as has been heretofore indicated. There will be periods when this will appear to have almost disappeared; yet there will come again the needs, and the AWARENESS of the needs of such representation - and that the services of the entity, owing to the abilities, will be required. Though it may appear at times that this would be either replaced or even disposed of, AGAIN there will be the opportunity for the entity to act even in a GREATER capacity as the mediator in keeping the cooperative, coordinative influence between the active force and the capital force.
11. (Q) Please describe as to whether the present decisions being made regarding the Natamsa Publishing Company, the "Savings Bank Journal," will lead to successful sequences and rightful results? (A) Not too easily will this succeed at the beginnings, but if those policies as to activities are held to, as is the purpose of the entity, we will find very soon the receiving of a great deal MORE consideration in what is now rebel camps as to SUCH publications. Thus, with the new policy, it can become not only the official organ for the savings banks but of those who are the rightful OWNERS of the capital represented in such banks. Thus in many of the UNIONS, even, it will make an organ that will become more widely read, more widely quoted even that SOME of the organs of such associations or unions. Hence as we find, this is a step that may be truly said has DIVINE sanction.
12. (Q) What ways may I protect myself against the present editor of the Savings Bank Journal, James C. Young of New York City, and plans he may have to jeopardize the standing of the Journal?
1151-18 Page 3
(A) That of, as may be well expressed, "loving indifference" towards his activities; that is, not to hold or to create any activity which would promote animosity, hate, distrust even. Hold to the purpose, the intent which IS the basic factor in the desire for a change in the status quo as it were of the Journal's activity among peoples; depositors as WELL as the institutions themselves.
13. (Q) Is the editorial policy I have in mind, dealing honestly and realistically with world and domestic conditions, apt to be well received? (A) As indicated, for the moment a wonderment - and then some criticism. But we would hold to the policies of having those who are in the position of mediators BETWEEN the varied camps express and give their word as to the policy and its needs; and this would make for a quicker adjustment towards those activities as may be the outcome of the purpose and thought prompting the change in the present. Such as those not only of the institutions - for remember, there are many of those in the savings institutions who HOLD to that of honesty and of policy and of acquainting ALL with the facts, as self. There are those in high positions politically, as well as in the economic change in transportation activities, whose mere word has its influence; and those giving same will aid in making the quicker adjustments.
14. (Q) Will the Savings banks continue to give their financial support to the publications - Savings Bank Journal and "Labor's Capital," after the changes in editorial policies? (A) They will remain in much the same position as at present; a need to them, and a factor that may be used for or against. And the very heart OF the activity is in keeping with the BETTER ones in the position for activity. To be sure, there will be some who will raise their voice against the change in policies. Most of these will soon find that the interest, the activity will be such as to help rather than hinder the purpose of their institutions.
15. (Q) Is "Labor's Capital" a suitable name for such a publication? (A) This is very well. As we find, it will need some considerations as progress is made.
16. (Q) Is Mr. [1724] the right entity to take over the editorship of the publication? (A) The abilities here are rather unique for such an activity. While the purposes, the desires are in the right
1151-18 Page 4
direction, we find that the training and the activities have made of the entity one rather malleable. Thus, with stiffening that purpose with the IDEAL, would be correct.
17. (Q) Should this be done immediately? (A) As soon as the policies are to be changed. It would necessitate then an immediate beginning of activity.
18. (Q) Should the cover design of the Savings Bank Journal in January be completely changed, or should the old cover design be continued for a while? (A) Be continued NECESSARILY for a while. Two to three months - then the evolution of the idea.
19. (Q) Is it timely for the Savings Bank Journal to feature the discontinuance of its relationship as the official organ of the National Association of Mutual Savings Banks? (A) It is rather that the policies are to be such that it will REPRESENT BOTH faces of the situation, and thus become rather as an advice TO the official organ, see?
20. (Q) It would not be harmful to divorce the publication from the Association of Savings Banks? (A) Would not be harmful - this will be of itself, see? because it will separate naturally itself from them. It will be rather, you see, the VOICE of the people as RESPECTING savings AND the labor as respecting ITS savings in such institutions!
21. (Q) Will the repercussions be satisfactory or unsatisfactory? (A) There will be some of each. MORE satisfactory, provided the factors indicated are a part of the change.
22. (Q) What factors do you mean? (A) As just indicated - the voice of those who act in the capacity as the mediator - the voice of those who act in the capacity of the directing of corporations, organizations that are a part of the directing factors of those who are the depositors in such savings institutions. As Wheeler, as Railroad directors, as some bank institutions, see?
23. (Q) Would it be advisable to secure a letter from Senator Burton K. Wheeler and others, to be published in the January issue of the Savings Bank Journal, commenting on the new editorial policy of the magazine and praising my record? (A) This is as has been indicated. This has been spoken of as advisable, see?
24. (Q) Would it be advisable to send a Christmas letter to Savings Bankers notifying them of the new independent policy of the Journal? (A) This would be very well, if it is not made to be a bone
1151-18 Page 5
of contention but as the Season represents - rather peace BETWEEN all factors in such associations and organizations.
25. (Q) Is it effective to pursue the adequate financing of the new publications - Savings Bank Journal and "Labor's Capital," through John D. Rockefeller or some other public spirited individuals? (A) This is well to pursue through such channels - and that of the Rockefeller will be a part of such aid.
26. (Q) Is Mrs. [1782] a Divinely led contact for the public work of the new editorial policy in which I am engaged? (A) As we find, one through whom there is to be the leading TO the ones who would be, as it were, DIVINELY sent - and thus the factor, the channel, the door to same.
27. (Q) Should I retain Gerald Dumars as advertising manager of the publications? (A) If there is the ability of Dumars to see that the change of policy is represented properly in the class of advertising sought. Very well - capable; but one that seeks SELF'S interest without the thought of an ideal.
28. (Q) Is there any other advice you can give me, which will build up, on a self-sustaining basis, the editorial and publication policy I am pursuing? (A) This is a publication that is breaking new ground, as it were, in a manner; going into fields that have been heretofore considered by many as a divided field - and is making rather here a bid for coordination and cooperation of efforts. Thus it will require on the part of the editorial staff considerations that will be rather in the form of NOT revolutionary but evolutionary in concept. But as has been given, the TIME is at hand - the policy is His. Then do not grow weary in well-doing.
29. (Q) Will these policies I am pursuing permit me adequate economic release for promoting further development of good labor-management relationships? (A) They should - and will.
30. (Q) Will I amply meet my obligations for retaining my Bronxville home, and to relieve me of other indebtedness? (A) As we find, these are working out satisfactorily. There may be yet some periods of anxiety - yet all of these will work out correctly. Keep the faith in that which has been, which is the prompting of that purpose ye gained as ye walked in the way to Emmaus.
31. (Q) Will it be necessary for us to go to Florida this winter? (A) Be POSSIBLE - be probable; in February.
