Time of Reading 10:40 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1241].
3. As we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the better physical functioning of the body. These in part are from prenatal conditions, or those stresses under which the mother labored or suffered in mental attitudes while carrying the body.
4. Thus we find there is a regurgitation, or what might be termed a spasmodic sigh, between the lungs and the heart.
5. This causes the improper circulation, or the slowing in the distribution of the circulation to the superficial areas or to the veins. While the arteries at times fill, we find that the effect is spasmodic - as of the deep sigh.
6. Unless corrections are made - and even with these, if there were to be any real excitement or overfeeding - there might be caused such a filling as to stop the circulation and bring on an organic reaction in the heart, or a disturbed circulation as to become acute. Thus there might be caused disturbances such as to bring sudden separation, or spasmodic reaction and a hemorrhage in the lung or an engorgement of the heart itself.
7. Then - to bring the better conditions, the more normal forces - it is necessary that the body be in as pleasant, easy and quiet surroundings as practical to be had for the body.
8. And have osteopathically the very gentle manipulations, according to the very nature of the disturbance, of those pressures that exist throughout the upper dorsal and cervical area. This will enable the whole of the circulation to be more coordinated. The effect of this incoordination is indicated by the conditions in fingers,
1241-1 Page 2
toes, limbs, and all of those branches in which there should be the coordination of the superficial with the central circulation.
9. Thus we may bring the bettered conditions for the body.
10. The disturbances in the throat - the cough, and the like - are a part of this suppression that is manifested in the EMOTIONAL forces of the body itself. Hence there may only be brought a better condition in this respect by the corrections osteopathically that will take into consideration this flooding of the lungs at times, through the deep emotional forces, and the filling of the spleen and heart at such times.
11. Do these, then, if we would bring the bettered conditions for the body.
12. In the diet - not too great quantities of foods, but those that are easily assimilated; and feed the body rather three to four to five times each day, than just the regular periods - but small quantities.
13. At least twice a week give one minim of Atomidine, either in the food or taken separately in a little water. Never give more than the one minim (one drop), else we may create too great an activity in the circulation; though the thyroid needs this for its better condition.
14. Ready for questions.
15. (Q) Who would you recommend to give the osteopathic manipulations for this body? (A) Such an one as Richardson, with the care that may be given. It is most important, of course, that the home environs for the body be pleasant - if it is to manifest through this experience.
16. (Q) Is it better for the body to remain in the home where she is now staying, or should she be with her mother? (A) It will be rather hard for the first few weeks, but the body will be better in the present home than in the environs which have brought about much of the disturbance.
17. (Q) How often should the osteopathic treatments be given? (A) This should be governed by the response the body makes. Thus at times we will find twice a week, and at others once a week should be sufficient.
18. (Q) In feeding the body for or five times a day, would it be better to outline a specific diet? (A) Rather give those things that the body will assimilate. Of course, not too much of sweets but sufficient of the carbohydrates that there is plenty of the vital forces. Use honey or Karo as the sweets.
19. (Q) How much milk a day?
1241-1 Page 3
(A) At least a pint to a pint and a half. Oatmeal, whole wheat, bacon (very crisp), liver, chicken, fish - these should be the principal foods to be stressed in the diet; not dried beans or the like, but celery, lettuce - even though they are made into soups or broths with or from the other foods - see?
20. (Q) What is the cause and relief for the sore on the body? (A) This comes from a poor circulation and the inability for coagulation or healing, because of deficiencies in the circulations. Use any good ointment that is of an alkaline nature as an antiseptic - as bathing with Glyco-Thymoline or such, and then using a good antiseptic balm.
21. We are through for the present. Three copies to Mrs. [303] (one for Dr. Richardson and one for the mother, Mrs. [4722]) Copy to Ass'n file [Ques. answered without being asked: Is there any organic heart trouble? What causes and what may be done for darkness around the finger nails, toe nails, and purple lips?] ps?]
