This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of August, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1242], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [333].

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: (In undertone, while locating the place of the individual, "That's one of the white ones.") [GD's note: Perhaps referring to living quarters? See 8/24/36 ltr. under 1242-2, Par. R3.]
2. Yes, as we find, the disturbances in the physical forces of the body are rather a complication of disorders.
3. In giving that as we find as the cause, it would go farther back than that which has apparently made for the inability of the activities of the body and those that have produced the muscular inflammation and the tendencies for contraction in portions of the structural body itself; as well as that which causes the tendency for the palsied or shaking effect that comes over the body at times.
4. As we find, in times back there were those conditions in the body in which it became apparently necessary for the use of mercury products as an eliminant for the disturbances in the system. While these in a manner eliminated the disturbances, they eventually produced that condition in the very bone covering itself as well as a condition in the blood supply, and an inflammation in the nerve forces that became a much worse disturbance. There was some period of elapse between these.
5. Then with the giving of the injections to give the body the abilities to eliminate these poisons that apparently arose in the form of an acid from lack of proper activity or elimination through the kidneys, and a general distribution of such disturbances through the system producing an ataxia and an inflammatory condition, these tend to produce greater distresses. For in the attempt to produce relaxation (which has been recently), and the tendency for the prevention of the settlings of the inflammation in the tendons and in the muscular forces of the body that are becoming rather inclined toward hardening, a greater inflammatory condition
1242-1 Page 2
is produced and great distresses have been brought - and those tendencies to break the joints. And the tendency for their contraction has made for a disturbance that becomes more than a complication.
6. Hence we find the blood supply, the nervous forces of the system and all under such stresses that to describe these would only be to give those conditions that are known to be existent with the body.
7. Then, as we find, the applications which may be helpful would not be in the way and manner as indicated at present or recently. We would leave off those.
8. And we would begin rather with that which will work with the elementals of the body-forces themselves, see? creating then a change in the vibratory rate of the blood supply; carrying with this change in rate the elements (in metals) that are lacking in the body itself, and using influences from without rather than forces that are within to stimulate a better coordination between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal nerve forces. Thus we would create a coordinant activity with the superficial and the deep circulation, and in this manner - if there is a response - we may find better conditions coming about.
9. And as to whether the body would respond or not depends upon the attitude and upon the sincerity of those applications as may be given.
10. Hence, as we find, we would begin with the Wet Cell Appliance carrying a low form of electricity, with two solutions in same - the Chloride of Gold, that will make for a change of activity in the blood cellular force as to the creative energies - and the Nitrate of Silver, that will make for a change in the impulse in the nerve forces themselves; one solution used one day, the other the next; and the attachments would be made in this manner:
11. The first day, the small plate would be attached first - to the 4th lumbar, while the larger plate through which the Chloride of Gold solution passes would be attached last - to the umbilicus plexus, or the lacteal duct and umbilicus plexus, or to the RIGHT of the umbilicus center about two inches, see? The attachments should be kept very clean, and would be made to the body every other day for thirty minutes.
12. The next day, the small plate would be attached first - to the 2nd and 3rd CERVICAL, while the larger plate through which the 10% solution of Nitrate of Silver passes would be attached last - to the 4th LUMBAR center. These attachments are both on the spine, but we should change those vibrations between the deeper circulations of the nerve forces from
1242-1 Page 3
these plexus or ganglia in the 2nd and 3rd cervical and the lumbar axis, that the activities of these should be upon the general nervous system as related to the circulatory force to release this muscular force through the body-force itself. These attachments would be made every other day, for thirty minutes.
13. Also we would have the rubs from a combination of oils prepared in this manner:
14. To 6 ounces of Russian White Oil as the base, add - in the order named: Pure Olive Oil...................1 ounce, O'Cedar Oil......................1 ounce, Kerosene.........................1 ounce, Oil of Wintergreen...............1 ounce, Oil of Pine Needles..............1 ounce, Oil of Mustard.................1/4 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root..........1/2 ounce. This as we find will separate, but shake together. Each evening when the body is ready for retirement, use this as a rub along the spinal system, principally upon the spinal column itself or in each segment; not too hard to begin with and just what the body will absorb. Let this extend over especially the joints, as in the plexus of the sacral, the knees, the feet, the elbow, the shoulder, the wrist and hand.
15. These we would do for at least a period of the full application of the charge of the Appliance, see - thirty days.
16. We would also be very mindful of the diet, that there are the properties of Atomidine as a portion of the diet; that is, those food values of same - as we would find from beets, carrots, salsify, especially the combinations of these in their various forms, and those from which the greater quantity of the activities upon the gastric flow of the organs of assimilation arise, or that from which a great deal of insulin may be gathered - which is from the root as well as the flower of those vegetables from which these are taken.
17. In these ways and manners, then. While these, of course, are not all the diets, these - or a great quantity of these - should each day be a part of same.
18. Do these for the period, and then we would give further instructions.
19. Ready for questions.
20. (Q) How long should these be followed before the next reading?
1242-1 Page 4
(A) As just given, thirty days.
21. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (GD's note 8/5/36: See letter [which was enclosed] with directions to H.H.R. Corp. for preparing the type Appliance suggested.)
