Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion - ques. at end reg. material affairs.)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1246].
2. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the better physical functioning of the body - and as we find these may be corrected and made nearer to normal; thus preventing a great deal of disorder that is tending to arise from these disturbing conditions.
3. These as we find have to do with pressures that disturb the circulation, making for activities upon the nervous forces of the body that prevent a normal flow of the circulatory forces, especially to the lower extremities and through the activity of the pelvic organs and through the lower assimilation of digestive forces.
4. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body, [1246] we are speaking of, present in this room:
5. FIRST, IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find very good when the pressures that prevent normal flow of circulation are taken into consideration, yet drosses or refuse forces are constantly being left in the body that should be carried out through the circulation or the emptying into the distribution of refuse forces or the ash or dross of the body-functioning.
6. Thus we have a disturbance in the eliminations from the respiratory system, though not involving the lungs themselves; though producing in portions of the body an awareness (only at times) of the circulation being disturbed by the fullness and the activity of the circulation especially under certain types of exercise or activity, by the shortness of breath.
7. This same disturbance produces a hardship upon that circulation between the heart and the hepatic circulation, though this as is seen is only functional in the present. But if there is the continued expansion or the stress upon the aorta artery we will find that these will eventually
1246-1 Page 2
produce a heart disturbance; functionally, organically.
8. In the deeper circulation, as from the activities through the pelvic organs, through the lumbar plexus, through the ileum plexus, through at times that even to the caecum and those portions in both the left and the right portion of the lower part of the abdomen, we find pressures exist.
9. This as we find first in the coccyx end of the spine. Later with the activities and with those applications for disturbances through the locomotories of the body we have produced a lesion in the lower part of the 4th lumbar axis, and thus have a pressure upon both the nervous systems that at times makes for an irritability that finds expression in the activities of the body without there being, as it were, any particular pain in the body; though a general feeling of heaviness through the lower portion or from the 9th dorsal downward.
10. These have made for those accumulations in the circulation that prevent the nominal flow between the deeper circulation and the superficial circulation. And in this manner the disturbance is to the respiratory and perspiratory system, or the eliminations through the pores of the skin itself; especially in the lower extremities and through the hips, through the upper portion of the body in its activity across the pelvic area.
11. IN THE NERVOUS FORCES OF THE BODY, as has been indicated, these are a part of a basis of these disturbing factors in the body itself; yet as has been indicated they have produced other disturbances to the functioning system rather than remaining only as a nervous condition. But the pressures are the cause, the nervousness is the effect, and the disturbance is the result of this combination.
12. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, in the activity of the circulation under this pressure we find that some of the organs become involved, as the lower portion of the hepatic circulation, or the kidneys as related to their excretory functioning of the uric acid from the system.
13. Hence we will find that at times while there may be alkalinity even to the upper portion of the stomach, from the salivary glands to the stomach glands, there may be acidity from the middle portion of the jejunum through the activity of the alimentary canal and through the kidneys themselves and through the bladder; thus producing an irritation at times that has through the bladder; thus producing an irritation at times that has through sympathetic conditions from lesions in the lumbar, pressures in the coccyx area, CAUSED a heaviness across these areas and the functioning of the organs become involved. Hence
1246-1 Page 3
tendencies are produced for accumulations of lymph pockets, producing pressures then in the abdominal area, through the pelvis, upon the organs of the pelvis, and through this portion of the system itself.
14. These as we find then involve the lymph circulation. Hence we will find at times through other portions of the body, as in the throat, a dryness, at other times an excess of mucus or of the saliva or those activities of a little burning in the throat. The lymph being thrown from the system in the attempts to create the proper circulatory forces through other portions of the body involved makes then a sympathetic condition.
15. The sensory forces of the system are very good. These are near normal from the 2nd and 3rd dorsal to the base of the brain, yet these all become involved. And the little heaviness between the shoulders, across the small of the back, all come from those pressures - or are the sympathetic reactions from the incoordination between the cerebrospinal and the lymph or the sympathetic or vegetative nerve forces of the body.
16. In the digestive forces - these become upset only occasionally through this sudden change, as it may be said to be, in the acidity and alkalinity, by excesses of hydrochlorics, lack of potassiums, in the system - and the lack of the gland secretions through those portions of the body where inflammation or the excess of the lymph circulation produces a tendency in that direction.
17. THEN, AS WE WOULD FIND, IN MEETING THE NEEDS OF THESE CONDITIONS WITH THIS BODY IN THE PRESENT:
18. First we would find it best to begin with applications regularly, for a period of eight to ten days, with a combination of equal portions of Mutton Suet, Turpentine, Spirits of Camphor and Oil of Pine Needles - added in the order named. Heat them all, not boiling, just to the melting point of the Mutton Suet or the combination of same. Two tablespoonsful of each should be sufficient. Dip a flannel of two or three thicknesses in same. Apply this over the lower lumbar, the sacral and the lower portion of the spinal column, each evening when ready to retire. Let this remain on for an hour. HEAT it, not so hot as to cause an irritation, but to RELAX the body.
19. Then once a week (not on those days when the applications are made, or leave off the applications the evening before) we would have an osteopathic adjustment and massage. The adjustments are to be made in the coccyx, in the 4th lumbar and through the sacral area; only coordinating the upper portion - that is, the 9th dorsal,
1246-1 Page 4
the upper dorsal area and through the cervical - with same. The applications then are to be to the lower portion and not the upper portion, only coordinating the others to set up proper drainage and proper reactions in the nerve and circulations of the blood supply.
20. During these periods we would take about once every three days an ounce of the tea from watermelon seed. Take half an ounce of the seed, crush, and put in two ounces of water. Let come to a boil. Strain. Use this for the drink. Once every three days should be sufficient. This will CLARIFY the kidney circulation as combined with these properties as with the corrections and manipulative forces.
21. All of these are to WORK TOGETHER! Do not do one and leave the others off! Leave them all off first.
22. Also use each evening, just before retiring, the Radio-Active Appliance that makes for the correcting of the vibratory rate of the circulatory system, by equalizing the vibrations in the extremities.
23. When the manipulations are set, after the second treatment of same, extend same to the knee, under the knees, and especially to the feet and the bursa of the feet. This will give to the whole body more elasticity, more of the vital forces in its activities.
24. In the diets, beware of these - of fried foods of ANY character, of too great a quantity of white breads. Keep about an eighty percent alkalin diet to twenty percent of an acid diet. These are necessary forces, yet their combinations are the detrimental conditions to the body.
25. Ready for questions.
26. (Q) How can I escape nervous tension? (A) By having those pressures removed that exist in the coccyx and lumbar area, and by eliminating from the system the irritations that produce the pressures upon the nerve forces and by equalizing the circulation and vibratory forces as has been indicated. These have been given, as to the causes and how to remove them. If these are applied in the manner as indicated, all of these will be effective. Do not take the activities for the kidneys oftener than given. Do not stop because at the first period of the applications of the heat and the compound for the lower portion bring ease to the body, but keep it up for at least three or four complete periods - then rest for a month or two months, then repeat. This is to eliminate the conditions from the system. The compound applied will only break them up. The activities of the manipulations and the vibrations are only to throw them into
1246-1 Page 5
the system for eliminations, and then these are to be repeated same several times in order to eliminate same entirely from the system.
27. (Q) Regarding material activities, is this the time to launch the furniture program? (A) As we would find, as has been indicated in the furniture mart, as has been given respecting these, this is an excellent time - especially for the next two and a half or three years, to launch this program; provided it is kept in that as we find where the considerations are given in the various centers or in various groups as to the PERIODS, as to that which satisfies in this change that is gradually coming about in the experience of peoples - not to extreme to the modernistic, not to extreme to be kept to the old type or style, but that which is a gradual innovation towards that which makes for the more perfect cleanliness, the more perfect orderliness in furnitures and fixings for homes.
28. (Q) How can we improve this furniture, examples of which I hold? (A) In following those lines as has been indicated, that which makes for - These, as we find - See there are, as in some of these, the various types. Some fill a room, some make larger rooms of small rooms by the lines of such furniture. These are to be taken into consideration in the various types and manners, see?
29. (Q) What name should we use? (A) That should be choice of self. Those that will make a combination with self as to time, period, change - any of these may be taken.
30. (Q) Should we work with Estey Mfg. Co., Owosso, Mich.? (A) These as we find are very good, though there are some hindrances. If the financial situations of the organization are set in motion for those changes that have been intimated may be done, would be well. If these are not, they are not so good.
31. (Q) Should we work with [257] of ... Ave., N.Y.? (A) This may be changed around so it may be worked well with those lines or those specialty lines designed FOR that work.
32. (Q) Would this new type of furniture be acceptable to public? (A) As has been indicated, the changes and the time of changes are ready. Don't let it be too radical in either direction. Maintain this as an ideal or a standard; that which is easy to care for, that which is more cleanly in its appearance, that which is more to the lines not those - See, everything
1246-1 Page 6
has gone STREAMLINE - Well, this may be carried to excess in furniture, but it should be taken into consideration because the psychology of the whole effect is active upon the consumer or the public.
33. (Q) If we should work with [257], producing furniture designed for the small metal and prefabricated house, should the approach be made by him through the General Electric Co.? (A) This should be made through this and would be very good, for these are branching more and more into this type of consideration of this activity in the home. For eventually we must come to those where there will be all straight lines, you see; though these are broken as in this new type as being suggested.
34. (Q) Through what individual, Swope [Gerard Swope?], Young or Swope, Jr.? (A) Swope, Jr.
35. (Q) Any other advice for this body at this time? (A) We have wandered rather far afield from those things as we have indicated from the first here, but follow those suggestions as to the physical forces of the body, to give the abilities and the opportunities for a greater service - not for fame alone but for that beauty and that hope that may be brought through the activities of the body into the lives and experiences of other individuals. Keep that as a SIGN, as something to tie to - and don't forget it!
