Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
2. As we find, in some respects conditions are not so well as last we had same.
3. The vitality and the resistances, and the anxieties that have arisen in the attitude of the body itself, make for weakening conditions.
4. Yet as we find these may be materially aided if there are the proper precautions and the proper attitudes and applications for these for the body.
5. These changes have come from the lack of the proper assimilations that build for resistances in the system. Thus as we find the digestive forces of the body give a good deal of trouble. The lack of resistance has so quickened the pulse. The lack of resistance also has made for a greater strain upon the lymph circulation. And this with the irritation that has existed from the lack of the ability of the pulmonaries or lungs to oxidize or to give sufficient oxygen, produces - with the contributory effect of the digestive forces - a choking or full sensation in the throat and about the bronchi and larynx; as well as making for the effects of same do not aid in alleviating but produce rather a continual irritation that makes for dull headaches and weaknesses throughout the body.
6. In the applications then, we would leave off - or take from these and not consider other administrations that heretofore under varied conditions have been administered. Start from a beginning again, as it were.
7. First we would have the thorough osteopathic adjustments as would set up drainages not only from the upper dorsal and cervical area but that would relax also the lower dorsal, the lumbar and sacral area. This will with a few applications make for a great deal better rest for the body.
8. We would prepare rather than a cough syrup or an expectorant, those properties where there would be these combined in same, that will not only make for the relief of
1278-7 Page 2
the mucous membranes but assist in assimilation and give to the gastric flow of the digestive system activities and principles from which the assimilating system may gain strength; relieving this tendency for soreness and nausea through the alimentary canal, as well as through portions of the stomach itself - that is, if all of these are combined together - all of the treatments, see?
9. To 2 ounces of Strained Honey add 2 ounces of Distilled Water. Let this come to a boil. Skim off the refuse. Set aside to cool, and then add to this 2 ounces of Grain Alcohol (85% pure). Then to this as the carrier, add - in the order named: Essence of Wild Ginseng............1/2 ounce, Syrup of Rhubarb...................1/2 ounce, Syrup of Senna.....................1/4 ounce. Have this shaken together before the dose is taken, which may be taken every two hours - unless there is too great a coughing or too great a strain upon the nervous systems of the body. Every two hours give half to a teaspoonful, unless there is too great amount of coughing - when a little or a small quantity may be sipped.
10. Rather than solid foods give semi-liquids and liquids.
11. As a portion of the main diet we would have beef juice. Not beef broth but beef juice. This may be sipped often, but do not take great gulps or spoonsful. Have a teaspoonful taken every hour or every half hour is preferable to a whole teaspoonful once in two hours or a tablespoonful once or twice a day. But every hour half a teaspoonful - and THIS sipped, see?
12. Also we would find it well to use every character of food that is body and blood building; as whole wheat cereal, or if preferred the combination of wheat and barley. These as we find should be the main or chief diet. Milk; but preferably the malted milk with an egg and a little spirits frumenti in same; taken once to twice a day rather than solid foods. This, of course, just for three to four days, but still afterward remaining as a greater portion of the diet. The malted milk taken twice a day with a whole egg in same, but thoroughly beaten and made tasty by the addition of spirits frumenti or apple brandy or apple jack. But do not give too great quantities of the stimulants of this nature save as in food values, or in milks or the like, see? Eggs, rather the yolk - if these are cooked at all, but if these are taken in the malted milk it should be sufficient.
13. Do these as we find in full for the body, and we will
1278-7 Page 3
find betterments coming to the body.
14. Do not take a portion without the rest of it.
15. Rather than the cathartics or even laxatives, take enemas; but not hot enemas or cold enemas.
16. But if the foods are taken as given, and the massages as indicated, we should soon find a great deal of resistance and help.
17. The vibrations from the Radio-Active Appliance properly given will make for rest that is both helpful and body, blood and nerve building. Attach same once a day, or if short periods twice a day; that is, for twenty to thirty minutes. But keep the plates very clean. Have the Appliance in the ice twenty minutes before attached to the body and alternate about the body each time it is applied. If first to the right wrist and left ankle, then the next to the left wrist and right ankle, see? These would be the manners.
18. Ready for questions.
19. (Q) How often should the osteopathic manipulations be given? (A) At least every other day. Keep away from sedatives as much as possible.
20. (Q) What will relieve swelling of lower limbs? (A) To set up a circulation that allows for and produces in the system the proper distribution of eliminations of excesses and the lack of the proper lymph flow through the system. And these have been indicated for the body.
21. (Q) The pains in stomach? (A) As indicated, these arise from the improper assimilation and the drawing on portions of the body that are depleted by improper oxidization or improper assimilations.
22. (Q) Is the suggested compound to relieve choking as well as cough? (A) As given, it will relieve the pressures as produce same.
23. (Q) [Left out of original reading] What is condition of heart? (A) As has been indicated, this has altered a great deal by the lack of proper circulatory forces through the system, but it is a sympathetic and not an organic disturbance.
24. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Do these. All things taken rather in sips than gulped will be much preferable, and give much strength. Keep the body in the open, plenty of air in the room - but never drafts. In the sunshine when possible. The ultra-violets are helpful but do not gain these by a
1278-7 Page 4
hardship upon some other portion of the body.
