1. GC: You will have before you the information as given in reading on Monday, Feb. 14, 1927, regarding treasure buried in stump in Lostman's River, Monroe County, Florida. You will please give the location of this in such a way and manner that there will be no error by ones seeking same that would prevent their locating and obtaining the treasure. You will answer any questions that I may ask you regarding this.
2. EC: Yes, we have the information as has been given regarding the treasure located in stump, in island, in Lostman's River. This we have had before.
3. Now, as has been given, this would be easy to reach, and easy to obtain, for the channel is an open channel to within a short distance of where the treasure is located.
4. The location would be found in this manner: One measuring the distance from the entrance of the river from the bay, when at the high tide there is the first of the movement in the channel, begin the measurement, see? for we have still water for quite a distance in the channel, but when the movement in the water shows from channel flowing, begin measuring, and six miles up the channel we come to two islands on the eastern side of the channel. In the second island, at the center of same - center of island - we find the indications, as given, of the shoot or sprout, about the roots of the stump in which treasure is located. The shoot, or the offshoot of the root is on the south side of stump. Some dirt and three rocks are above the container. Necessary only, then, to use probing rod and the shovel to remove what little earth and leaves are above these rocks, and then the treasure chest would be exposed. The stump is rotted away in many portions of same, but a projection from same is on the northeast side. Then being almost opposite from the shoot or sprout that has been given. The island, as we see, projects in the central, or toward the central, portion of stream. Not that it obstructs channel, but the first island laps behind shoreward of the one on which

treasure tree and chest is located, see? There should be no error or trouble in locating and obtaining this treasure, which, as given, is near to five hundred thousand dollars in the amount, for monies and jewels both will be found in this treasure. This has been sought often, and by many. The nearest any have come to the treasure is some hundred feet. We see that there have been occasions when the water has been OVER the spot, yet the greater part of the time this remains dry, see? Ready for questions.
5. (Q) Give us the latitude and longitude of this treasure. (A) This may be obtained here. We have not the instruments for obtaining same here at present. We may obtain same by seeking others who know of same. There should be no trouble, though, in locating this from these directions as have been given, see?
6. (Q) Would ones seeking this experience any difficulties in recovering same? either from natural or other sources? (A) The natural conditions would be easily overcome with following these directions. The other conditions - it would be better that one camp here, and that the search be made as a casual condition, rather than as of hurry - for we have peculiar conditions to meet. While not of the nature that would cause any trouble, if handled in that manner, yet just as searching party this MIGHT cause such comment as to incite trouble among those near about, and some that seek for same at the present time further up and along the other islands.
7. (Q) Outline for us the proper procedure to recover this treasure. (A) We would go as one in search for game, or fish, or prospective, or looking over the improvements as have been made, and are being made, in the vicinity - and camp on the island, not far from the place as designated, for this could be accomplished with little labor and preparation. Then, the search made in the casual way and manner, it would not require long to remove same - when once the party ready to remove it, see? but not under the vigilance of those that watch should it be done, see?
Follow these directions as have been given. There should be no trouble experienced in discovering and removing this - for it is here, and, as has been given, EASIER - from natural conditions - to be removed than any as has been located, see? for, as is seen here with those conditions surrounding that from Broad Creek Channel [[1274] series], these have begun in the right way and manner, and have gone inward to that place where the turn should be made - but have turned a little too soon. Hence are not in the right

channel in the last operations here.
8. We are through with this reading.
