This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of of June, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1387], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Dr. [961].

R E A D I N G

Born March 12, 1899, in New York City. Time of Reading 11:25 to 12:15 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Call the self Millicent [middle given name] rather than [...] [first given name as now used].

2. Yes, we have the body and those records that have been made by that entity now called [1387].

3. Call the name Millicent. It will make much difference, as we shall see, in what may be accomplished.

4. In giving the interpretations of the relationships of the entity with the universal forces, something of the manner in which the records are interpreted should be given; that the entity may study and apply that which may be helpful in the present experience.

5. While the astrological aspects have their relative influence, know that these are relative.

6. The earthly or material sojourns have their influence also, yet these influence more through the emotional nature.

7. Hence there is between the two that factor which ever makes for the changing influence, or the effect of these upon the individual activity of the entity - THE WILL FORCE.

8. However, the experiences in the astrological sojourns or in the sojourns about the earth are as a portion of the experience, just as the sojourns in the earth.

9. And one sojourn in the earth stands out beyond all the rest - INDO-CHINA.

10. In giving then the urges that arise between these two influences, we find these as outstanding in the intuitive and in the emotional forces of the entity:

11. One that is very easily influenced by vibrations. This is an experience of the soul self from not only the astrological but from the material sojourns.

12. Those things of beauty, those things of harmony, those things of nature, those things of helpful influence, all

become a part of the entity's innate influence and force.

13. The beauty as of a sunset or the movement of a serpent upon a rock - these have each an equal influence for the entity; for they take hold upon those things that are not elementals but the elements of the influences that impel individuals.

14. And this is the deeper self of the entity - the impelling force in the lives of individuals, of groups, of states, of nations, of a whole earth. All of these have for the entity an impelling force, as the crescendo of an orchestra, as the coo of a dove, as the lightning or as the murmur of a brook. These - in their extremes yet in their beauty - impel, influence, increase in the experience of the entity the worth whileness.

15. Hence if this is sought within the self, because of this, and held to and built upon, one may gain, one may give peace, harmony, beauty, joy, hope in the experiences of others.

16. For the entity has much work to do in this experience; many joys to know, many sorrows to experience. These are a part of life.

17. What, then, is Life, to the entity?

18. The expression of the divine within the realm of human experience, that others, too, may know and take hold upon God - and find Him good.

19. For being holy is just being kind, gentle, patient, long-suffering. These are manners, means and ways of finding why, how, these influences - that bespeak of the soul's relationship to the Creative Forces - take hold upon the inner self for growth.

20. Then truth, then life, to the human experience, is a growth. You grow in grace, in knowledge, in understanding of the Lord and His ways.

21. Hold fast to that which is good, and there may be accomplished in the experience that which brings peace to the soul.

22. We find the astrological aspects of the watery way or Pisces, Jupiter, Venus, all in the ascendency for benevolent influences; that is, love, harmony, beauty, grace, bigness of purpose, truth, honesty, sincerity, all become as forces that are magnifying of the relationships of self to the universe and to Creative Forces.

23. Hence in writing, in music, in that which depicts the beautiful, is the life's work of the entity.

24. For as is given in the common parlance, as you do it unto the least of your brethren you do it unto your Maker.

25. The study, the understanding, the interpretation of the

emotions of others as well as of that which prompts self becomes the life's work, the why in the experience of the entity.

26. Those influences that are detrimental we find in fire, in that opposed to the beautiful or in the black arts - the seeking for rhythm of a nature to take the place of the harmony of the spheres.

27. Study the difference between rhythm and harmony; in the beauty of the rose, the sunset, the movements in nature.

28. As to the appearances in the earth that make for the emotional forces, we find - as indicated - one appearance so overshadows the others that it projects itself through the sojourns in other environs, other experiences, and into the present.

29. It is understood that these are not merely axioms, they are not merely words, but have their intent, their purpose, their meaning in the experience of self as well as in the life, the sojourn, the experience of others:

30. What you sow in the flesh you reap in the flesh. What you sow in the spirit, in the mind, you reap in the mind.

31. As you give, so is it given. Only what you have given away do you possess. What you lose was never yours. What you gain is an opportunity. What you possess is not yours except as you use it in relationships to others, to your Maker, to your purpose, to your fellow man.

32. Not all appearances are given, then, but those that make for an influence in the experience of the entity in the present. Then as the application is made, as there is the growth, more and more will there become a unison of that undertaken as Princess La in Indo-China, where there are uncoverings even now of the city in which the entity resided.

33. The earthly sojourn just preceding the present one, though, we find was in the land of the present nativity; during those periods when there were the early portions of the activities in what is now known as or called Providence town (Provincetown?).

34. It was in those environs when there was much ado made respecting the activities of those who attempted the interpretations of the movements and motivative forces that prompted the activities, when others were persecuted for those activities, for those familiar spirits, for those undertakings.

35. Then in the name Lillian Garth, the entity gained. Not only did the entity aid in making for a better understanding but for a better interpretation of that which prompted the ministers, the teachers, the leaders, in their persecutions

as well as tempering of those who had material experiences of mental and spiritual visions for their use in a more practical, purposeful manner.

36. To THAT the entity may hold in the present, and find the experiences worth much; as well as the activities from the East Indian, as well as the peoples who persecuted those who had such experiences.

37. Before that we find the entity sojourned in the English land during those periods when there were those joinings together for the Crusades.

38. The entity was among those who were left, those who were not understood, those who were not trusted.

39. Hence we find in the experience then, as Catharine Carnwell, the entity was one that suffered in body, suffered in mind; yet made for mental gains during that experience.

40. For those influences of that period make the entity in the present, as it were, "careful" here, there, in the relationships, in the trusts that are given, in the trusts that are necessarily made by self respecting others. Also they make for the questioning of purposes as to those with an over religious tend or trend. And these are well.

41. The entity then was well balanced in mind, in body, in purpose, in aims; yet from the material suffered mentally, physically - yet gained, because of the soul experience.

42. In the present we find the entity mentally and physically balanced. So, keep that which is good in these directions.

43. Before that we find the entity was in the earth during that period when the Master walked in the earth, and during those influences of the persecutions and that of want in body.

44. Those were a portion of the entity's experience, and have brought that which has ever been and is in the experience in the present - the wonderment at those who may suffer in body, in the things of life or of material experience, for a cause.

45. Not that the entity is not given to charity, yet patience AND charity are portions of the lesson to learn in this experience.

46. The name then was Charlean.

47. Before that we find the sojourn that is the outstanding one; during those periods when there were the attempts upon the part of the teachers from Egypt, India, Mu and China to correlate the truths.

48. The entity then was a princess in the City of Gold; and in the temple of same did the entity minister - not only to her own people but in aiding to draw the activities from

other lands; as from Saneid, as from Ra, as from Wu, and as from the teachers from the Carpathians and from Og (Oz?). These all were a part of the entity's activities - the teachings of these.

49. And as the entity gave hope, understanding, faith, confidence, knowledge to the whole of the earth in those experiences, so may the same be a part of the experiences in the present; in writing, in teaching, in ministering through those channels where harmony and peace may reign in the experiences of those who are divided as to the source, the purpose.

50. For, know this: Know in WHOM you have believed as much as or more than in WHAT you believe; and know that He in WHOM you have believed is able to keep that in your experience against ANY experience that may arise in your activity; whether mental, spiritual, material.

51. For the earth is the Lord's (as you did so oft proclaim), and the fulness thereof.

52. Hence all power, all glory, is His, and not of any individual entity but an entity that is of the Holy One - God.

53. Keep, then, that thou didst give to thy peoples, to those of India, to those of Egypt, to those of China, to those of Persia, and to those of all the lands from which the various teachers in the period attempted to correlate the truths.

54. Hence your interpretation of he that has a vision of the elementals, as well as he that has the vision of the angel or of the loved one, is just as purposeful, just as helpful in this experience as in that sojourn when as Lala you gave so much to the world and kept those tenets of Ra, of Saneid, of Wu, of Og, AS those that made for the foundation upon which He whom thou sawest in the garden brings to the world the understanding in the present.

55. Before that we find the entity was in the land now thought of or termed as La, or Mu - Lamu.

56. Those experiences then made for the determining between the thought forms and those that materialized into what became man.

57. These are a part of that to which the entity may gain by the study first of self.

58. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain - and how:

59. First, study to show thyself approved unto THY ideal, thy Maker - the god within self, yet the God without self.

60. Keep the self unspotted from questionings of thine own conscience.

61. Then give of thyself, of thy understanding, in the interpreting of the experiences of others in their relationships to Creative Forces, and differentiating between elementals.

62. Ready for questions.

63. (Q) Can you tell anything about the Maya incarnation? (A) This was a portion of the Indo-China experience; it was a part of the same.

64. (Q) Anything particular I should do in my own work to better it? (A) As has been indicated, first know within self WHERE you are headed, what is your purpose - then as you study to use that which is a part of your own heritage, you become more and more close to the adepts of yourself - that adapting of yourself in the experiences that are a part of your own self.

65. (Q) Is Abdulla, the guide that I have, a worthy one to work with? (A) Only when such influences are kept in accord with your own ideal are they worthy; but keep thine own ideal! For each soul must answer to self and the consciousness within!

66. (Q) Why should I be called Millicent? Please explain. (A) Gain what is the meaning of same; as one that ministers with, one that gives to, one that interprets for, one that means so much to, others.
