This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of July, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [1397], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [1402] and Mr. [877].

R E A D I N G

Born May 20, 1879, [2:20 P. M. Greenwich Time - See 1397-1 Par. 77-A, 78-A], in Warrington near Chester, England. Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [1397].

2. In the interpretation of the records as we find here, these as we interpret are that which has been builded in the experience of the entity as an entity, during those periods of activity either in the earth's plane as manifested through the emotional forces or activities, or the sensory force, or in the astrological aspects or sojourns of the entity in the environs about the earth that make for the innate or intuitive influences.

3. As we find from the records, these have been rather well applied.

4. Hence we have the astrological urges and the urges from material sojourns being well balanced through the will, which is used for the activities in the material plane for developments or retardments.

5. These in the experience of the entity then have been rather extremes.

6. Hence we find rather these as a compilation, or a combination of the influences:

7. One of a high nerve temperament, and with those innate influences that have to do not only with the mental forces and individual activities but with the spiritual influences also about the entity's home - with which this entity may deal.

8. Hence we will find there being continually influences in relationships with the entity with others that will become of a nature, from purely material aspects, or peculiar significance to many.

9. Healing is a portion of, a part of the entity's experience through the sojourns in the earth. While the

application of self in these directions has at times brought those influences and forces that have caused questionings on the part of some as to the manner in which such applications were influencing, and do influence, the lives of others.

10. Hence there still remains not merely what may be termed karmic influences, if one were - or the entity were - to define such in its own experience. For under material law one meets that it has constantly sown, but if constructive influences or forces of Creative Energies are applied, these become rather as null in the experience.

11. For it indeed becomes as has been given by Him of old, it must needs be that offences come, but woe to him by whom they come!

12. Hence because an offence may have been committed against thee, only in attempting to demand an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, or blood for blood, does one become only under the law.

13. But doing good for evil, being gentle when harshness is manifested, makes for that attunement to the influences within the soul as well as in the experience of an entity in material activity, of harmony and peace and quiet.

14. One may not sow riots and reap harmony. One may not sow indiscretions of any nature and expect the mental, the physical or the spiritual to respond as an instrument attuned to only good.

15. But they each in their sphere of activity must be met in same.

16. Hence the experiences of the entity as we find become as these in the astrological aspects of same:

17. One under those influences and forces of Jupiter that makes for the great relationships with masses, but individual in its activity; that is, those activities of the entity in relationships with individuals accelerate - yes, affect groups, communities, states.

18. Thus, as has been given, there is the leaven or the turmoil; that may make for that which may become good in these relationships of the entity and of many others, or just the reverse.

19. In those influences as we find in Mercury and Mars, these are at variance oft in their relationships with individuals.

20. Hence madness upon the part of others may oft be quieted by the entity; even possession or obsession in the minds of others may be quieted by the entity.

21. For in the appearances in the earth, as well as in those activities in Mercury and Mars, the entity has become one that may be said to have conquered much in the abilities to

quiet others.

22. Yet these very influences - unless they are quieted within self and builded from the constructive forces of the spiritual activity - may become the entity's own undoing.

23. Hence first study to show self approved unto that the self has set and does set as an ideal.

24. KNOW thy ideal, and that it is able to keep every experience in that way in which only constructive forces may be builded in the experience of self as well as in others.

25. In Venus we find an adverse influence, or one making for strange relationships that have been as active forces in the experience where friendships have meant much more than the relationships in blood or kin; where those activities have arisen from influences that have brought to bear in the experience of the entity through the material sojourns.

26. As to those activities then as we find arising from the material sojourns:

27. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the nativity among those that were of the more adventurous individuals who came to the land of the entity's present adoption.

28. The entity was among those - as considered in that experience - who might be said to be freebooters, freethinkers; or those seeking such experiences.

29. Then the entity was active among the first settlers who came with not Smith but those who followed same; with Hardcastle and those influences that brought the contacting later of the activities in the various colonies.

30. The entity then traveled from one to the other; first in Carolina, in Virginia (as these are called now), in Maryland, again in those environs about Pennsylvania, again in those about Clark; and then in those about what later became Stuyvesant's activity.

31. Hence we find these calls produced in the activity of the entity that which was in its material application a gaining experience, through a life spent in its mental application.

32. For the entity gained through the experience as James Buhanan.

33. In those activities especially where there was the obtaining from the natives, as well as others, that which made for bringing bodily strength, the influences to keep that balance between the mental activity, did the entity make for those experiences in that sojourn.

34. But about that land or that portion in the land of adoption now known as the southernmost portions of Connecticut and a part of Rhode Island were the places of

the greater activity.

35. It was associated also with some of those that were more of the adventurous that went into the interior.

36. From the experience, we find these as innate, these as emotions for the entity: To try those things new, yet holding to those things proven; yet trying those things that may be in combination of the two as related to activity in individual lives.

37. Before that we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity of the entity, during those periods when there were the first of the Crusades, when there were such hardships for the entity.

38. Then in the name Miner (Minor?) Miller, the entity made for the gatherings of her own peoples for protection as being left by the men of the land.

39. And little confidence has the entity had since in men, as were zealous of that pertaining to those activities in unsettled fields of concern.

40. Those were the periods when the entity made for mental and material development, yet many of the questions as for that that made for soul development.

41. For those tendencies to hold grudges, those tendencies to be suspicious, those tendencies to question the activity, arose from that as applied in the experience of the entity during that sojourn.

42. In the present that as indicated: That ye sow, that ye reap; that ye MUST learn!

43. For evil may not be done that good may come; whether it is in what may be termed a karmic force or not. For these continue to make for barriers that must be brought to not sacrifice but mercy, not justice as upon the law but grace that ye may have and ye may make in the experience of all those influences that may bring the better forces for constructive increase in the experiences of others.

44. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Promised Land, during those periods when there were those returnings for the rebuilding of the temple.

45. And the entity was among those peoples that had been left in the land when there were the activities in the exodus of the main body, or of that peoples.

46. For the period covered years and years. Yet when there were those activities under the supervision of Zerubbabel, the priest, and Nehemiah and Ezra, the lawgiver and the priest and the active service, the entity persuaded many of her own peoples - that were called later the mixed races, or the peoples that were hated later by their own brethren - to become closer affiliated, closer associated with the

spiritual activity in the lives of the individuals.

47. Thus the entity builded in that experience not only in the material but in the mental and the spiritual activities.

48. Thus may the entity build in the experiences of others in all the various thoughts in which the entity has delved and thus contact not the differences but rather that which is coordinant in the principles, the teachings of many varied sects and activities of others.

49. These are a part of the entity's experience in the present in contacting many that are of various faiths, of various cults, of various beliefs, of various tenets.

50. These, then, if the entity will find that common ground upon which all may meet for a GOODLY purpose, will be as the experience of the entity then - in the name Shulmean, which made for that development mentally, spiritually, materially.

51. For that which becomes manifested, as is known, first has its inception in the unseen, the mental, or the spiritual forces in the experience of individuals in the earth.

52. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as or called the Gobi, or that wherein the lands now called Indo-China or Siam, India or the Zulu[?] land and Mu or Lemuria, were combined with the teachings of many peoples.

53. The entity was among those who were close with those activities wherein Saneid, Ra-Ta, Mu, La, brought about or produced a correlating of the teachings of the day.

54. Hence those peculiar forces and influences that have and do become a part of the entity's experience in the present.

55. The entity then, as the interpretation would be in the present, was in the name Zmulu.

56. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain, and how:

57. It has been indicated that the greater experiences in the earth have been for advancement.

58. Do not let those things that were as grudges, that were as differences, again ever build that which may become as destructive forces.

59. But first know self and in Whom as well as in what ye believe.

60. Then, studying to show thyself approved unto same, never making for that questioning in self or of others as to their purposes - so long as they are constructive.

61. Wipe not thy skirts from those that may be questioned, but from those that are wordly-wise and satisfied with themselves pull aside thy skirts oft.

62. For these are they that make for the stumblingblocks in the experiences of men, and will produce those that have

been and are the turmoils of a mental and material world.

63. Keep the faith that has been a part of thy present experience. For the SIMPLE faith confoundeth the wise.

64. These are the things that make for the greater development.

65. Ready for questions.

66. (Q) My activities and my work are to a degree involved in and dependent upon the working out of my affairs as they relate to some Texas Oil property in which I am interested. Please give me at this time any advice which will be helpful in handling this situation. (A) As there are developments and progressive developments in speculative fields in progress, it is well that all of these be taken into consideration in respect to the activities in those fields leading toward the holdings of the body. That is, do not lease too soon; neither withhold too long, but as the offers come for the use of same for activities, then make for those connections with same.

67. (Q) When should I take the trip to Texas to settle the present difficulties? (A) As we find, in September or October are the periods when it will require the body's activities.

68. (Q) Is my lawyer, [...], trustworthy? (A) Trustworthy to those activities in relationships to holding companies. As to the developing companies, well - question him about these.

69. (Q) Do you find any conditions relative to William Stofft that I should be warned of while in Texas? (A) None.

70. (Q) Do you find from the general trend of my development that I may expect material income from oil? (A) As the entity from the experiences in the earth has obtained and given to others help, hope, strength, even health, from the earth, then there may be - in those returns, and there may be expected from the earth - material gains.

71. (Q) Please explain past associations with my partner [...] who has apparently become unfriendly. Just how should I handle the situation with her to our mutual advantage? (A) These had best be approached from both angles. Only the one we have here. But keep in mind those things indicated. Put thyself oft - in understanding the situation - in the other person's place. Do unto the other person as ye would have him do to you. Study his relationships.

These relations or associations arise from the period when destructive forces came into thine experience, or during the Crusades; yet these are to be worked out. How? First, as has been given, studying as to what ye believe, studying as to what the other individual believes. Put these together. Coordinate those where cooperation can be had, and not continue to find differences. Reason together. And as we find this may come to the mutual advantage of each. But it is only the one approach, to be sure - as we give here. [See 1402-2, Par. 15-A, 16-A, 11/20/37.]

72. (Q) Has Helen Maxwell any important place in my dealings with my partner? (A) This should rather be a helpful influence, though ofttimes appearing just the reverse. For this as we find, the entity Maxwell, was in associations when good influences from the entity aided Maxwell when much in need.

73. (Q) What can I do in my present healing work to produce greater efficiency both from my patients' standpoint and my own? (A) The natural tendencies and inclinations in the healing are such that, if the entity will use more and more of the magnetic forces of self, closer and closer may the entity come to be of a help to those who seek aid. More and more the use of those vibratory forces - as is understood - also brings material gain. For again it is not alone from the earth's storehouses but from the universal forces that strength of material natures may materialize in this experience for the entity. Hence these: More and more of the personal self given. More and more also of the dependence upon etheronic, the electronic influences in those disturbed in body and mind, for the greater material gain.

74. (Q) With which type of the following machines will I be the most successful: Calbro-Magno Wave, Ellis Micro-dynamiter, Straborcam ray - aetheronics? (A) Now these each have their place in the experiences of types of individual activities. But the aetheronic offers the greater advantage for a universal influence in the experiences of the individual. This as combined with the magnetic forces of the BODY, you see, will make for the greater experiences in the present sojourn of the entity.

75. (Q) Can I look for improvement in these machines? (A) In the latter, or in the aetheronic, yes.

76. (Q) Please give the hour of birth. (A) As we find, there is a variation in the experience of most entities or individuals between the material birth and the spiritual birth. These as we find show for oft that variation in determining from the application of the series of influences from purely astrological variations. As in this entity's experience, in entering the present experience we find coming in the early afternoon, or just after the forenoon; while the spiritual entrance was in the late evening. Hence the entity may test this within self. When there are the activities with material things, the mornings are the periods when greater changes may be wrought. But in dealing with those in the mental, and when reason may be brought to bear, the shades of evening are the periods when the entity may reason and may work the better with those influences that abide in each soul in its relationships to purely mental and spiritual forces.

77. (Q) May I have the exact hour of physical birth? (A) Two-twenty - Greenwich time.

78. (Q) A.M. or P.M.? (A) P.M., as has been indicated; in the early afternoon. As to those things that are constructive as to colors, as to stones, as to numbers, as to signposts for the entity, all of these have their welcome as it were in the experience. But WILL - as in compliance with Creative Forces, or God - is the greater influence in the experience of every soul. As was given, these are signs - which man with his mental self is to use and not abuse. But in flowers - those colors that are deep and rich should be oft about the body. As to stones - those of blue, as well as the agate should be about. In Numbers - the influences as combined from the birth date, but including the hour, two-twenty. In the vibrations - these we find are the greater in the aetheronic.
